Well, I never really had the patience to learn to play this game, it was always too damn hard! But I did record several of its tunes on a cassette tape, and listened to it for years! And this (title) theme, in my opinion, is one of the most EPIC video game tunes on Amiga, EVER! To this very day, I still have that audio tape with it, and even though I don't have a working tape player anymore (and I have this tune in full quality mp3 now), I just can't bring myself to throw that tape away! :)
You know what? Fuck the people who don't like this game because it is too different from the board game.
If you want to play the board game, go play the board game. Maybe some other people like the idea of a game mixed with first person horror, action, and strategy.
@jackoneill45 I didn't even know there was a board game till 2010 and I had this game when it first came out on PS1. To me, anything I can play instead of "acting it out" usually is better. Sorta like the difference between reading a manga and watching the actual story unfold in the anime of the same manga. I don't care about the board game, and even if I did I wouldn't dislike the game because of it, but hey, that's how some are. I laugh remembering, "EZEKIEL LET ME PASS!"
Thank you kind sir for uploading this. For the soundtrack- unbeatable. Welcome in your worst nightmare and please enjoy your stay (if you survive long enough).
guys i need help please, im playing space hulk off of dosbox on xp and i am duing mission 3. so i destroy the statue an then genestealers come pooring in. i kept killing the hord of genestealers but they just keep coming and coming! i fought the hord for an hour or so and died. is the hord eventualy going to stop or do i have to do something?
Ahh, yes, this game scared me shitless on the amiga. Hearing this epic music, creeped me out, and to top it off having a 4 speaker system hooked up to it where the speakers are half my size and all around my basement made it seem like i was in the game. I didn't play much of the first SH back then, i mostly played VOTBA, but what i do remember of the first one was epic.
I remember playing a demo of this from Amiga Format magazine, the game only got like 74% but I thought the game kicked serious ass and bought the full game the day it was released.
With Amiga it was funny thing, in comparison to PC's it was relatively weaker but the way the hardware was used was much better. It's true what people say that Amiga was one of a kind!!!
I know what you mean, Amgia was weaker than the contmparary PC systems at the time in some respects; graphical capabilities were not as good, but the Amiga sound chip was superior. Have you heard about the techincal trade show in Germany? Amiga has been apparently reinstated. Three prototype computers with Amiga technology were demonstrated.
763kjm did say the Amiga was weaker than contemporary PC systems at the time in 'some' respects; but not all... but yeah, I do remember vaguely seeing Gunship 2000 screen shots in either Amiga Format magazine, it was damn good for the time. (I never owned the game though) Both the PC and Amiga graphics were the great, the differences were negligible. I remember looking in envy of the kids who could afford an Amiga; all I had was a Spectrum +2 when I was a boy.
This soundtrack actually sent chills up my spine when I heard it WTF!! That's what you call known how to write music. The game itself was the one of the few that gave me an adrenalin rush :O The AI was awesome and really kept players on their toes.
I would say, of any series of games made by different companies for a franchise the Warhammer 40k series of games, from Space Hulk to Dark Omen have some of the best AI writing in gaming. I think this is because all the raw data was already written by games Workshop, so the AI was always top notch!
AI is one of the most difficult element for game programmers to make good; at the moment it can in no way match the skill of an actual human player, but in the games mentioned, it appears the programmers compensate by designing virtual game enviroments to be an advantage to computer opponents, that in itself makes the AI appear smarter.
I would say that with pages and pages of data for the W40k boardgames, let's call them dice rolls for movement, dice rolls for fights, dice rolls for enemy strength, etc, all written in those board game manuals, made writing the AI easier and making it smarter. Not appearing to be smarter, which is a uthinism for the AI cheating, which in the early W40K games, I do not think happened.
You can get an Amiga emulator on the Internet easily.
I know what you mean with the :( , it really is one of the few computer games that are worth attempting to run in current PC systems, it really does stand out, like Worms, what a game that was. Both are amazing games, although Space Hulk did not quite get as much development over the years due to bullshit red tape on Electronic Arts part.

Still the best 40K based game in terms of atmosphere methinks.

Have you heard the music from the PC version? Absolute trash in comparison; it was not the same as in the Amiga version, which was far creepier.

I'd have to disagree with you there, I saw Gunship 2000 on both, and the Amiga version was way superior graphically.
