One way to grow it out is to cut it every six weeks. If you let it grow by itself, it will get a bunch of split ends and grow slower. If you get it trimmed regularly, it will grow thicker and faster.

lauren, you're preaching to the choir. last year, my hair was halfway down my back. didn't cut it for a year and got a bunch of split ends.. had to cut off 4 inches at the beginning of summer. it isn't growing back. basically i cry whenever i see a girl with long hair haha wahh :( we can get through this together!

I've had really long hair in the past, some tips:

- Be super nice to your hair: natural + conditioner, less dyes, etc.

- Only use a comb when wet, brushes tend to rip wet hair.

- Don't let your barber trick you into cutting it every 6 weeks! 6 months is perfectly fine. If it's really bad w/ split ends - just cut those off, not 5 additional inches.

- Vitamins are always a plus.

No promises, genetics may have a lot to do with it. Good luck! =-)

i know exactly how you feel! One thing you can try is making sure you aren't deficient in any vitamins. Take vitamin c, d, b12 and some flaxseed oil helps your hair grow in healthier. You can also try this stuff called "macadamia oil", they sell it at CVS and it makes your hair super soft and repairs damage. Also, don't go to the hair dresser for like 3-4 months, so that you can let your hair grow a bit. :) I hope this helps! Good luck with your hair growth Lauren!
