George Lucas is a hack. The prequel films are excellent examples of poor movie making, lame story-telling, autocratic production and excessive visual effects. The mere fact that Lucas ignored criticisms and critiques and made the same mistakes from film to film proves he has limited talent. Or that he doesn't care. He's a businessman, right?
How much more can he milk from Star Wars, it's gotten stupid now, Ridley Scott makes new movies every year. You don't see him rehashing his movies for thirty years squeezing every last drop from them and fleecing his blind devotees for more and more money. I hear he's turning them into 3D now, for gods sake! It really is boring now and over half of the saga is terrible anyway. The new ones are awful and the Return of the Jedi wasn't all that. It died for me after The Empire strikes back.
Well when you think about it, Darth Vader had triple personalities: James Earl Jones / David Prowse / Sebastian Shaw. Still, would love to see more post-Jedi purge.
@klbates I know that Luke Marries a ex sith bounty hunter named Mira Jade and they have a kid named Ben Skywalker. and Hon and Leia get married. and have 3 kids a set of twins and Jade and Jaina, Jade turns evil. and then there is Anakin Solo. and Chewy dies trying to save one of the Solo kids thats all I know
@sharonafox1 My name is Amy Bates and i just listen to your message what you said about. Should George Lucus stop making Star Wars. Well I have a friend me and her were talking about that they should make another Star Wars episode 7 or something. I'm a huge Star Wars fan.
you're so web2.0, gee. George Lucas changed my life, too, but not in a way that i neglect a ringin phone while talkin to a digital recorder. You're way beyond cool, you're a goddess! A brunette goddess, nonetheless!
I don't think George ruined the franchise, the EU did, at least George Lucas made the Saga have a happy ending, the EU kills off Chewie, make Darth Vader rellavant and temperarally turns Luke to the Dark side, but anyway I love this vid, believe or not I met Darth Vader Chewbacca and the guy who said Rebel scum, I just hope I meet Mark, Ford, Carrie, and George! He seems like a nice guy
Well...thank you for that. I keep on getting messages from my subscribers to start video blogging...but I keep on thinking why would anyone really listen to what I have to say about anything. But then again I do have a rather interesting life where I get to live out my dreams, do fascinating things and meet amazing people. But do people really want to hear about all of that. I'm not so sure.
Maybe I'll have to do a video and ask my subscribers if they want to hear about all this stuff.
Thanks...I tried to change it in edit but since the original title was too long and youtube changed it's program to settings which didn't allow such long titles I couldn't make the correction without losing the ability to have the long title.
So after seeing your comment I just decided to edit it and go for a shorter version.
It was time for a change anyway...thanks for the inspiration!
I have to say I wasn't impressed how they took out Sebastian Shaw and replaced him with Hayden Christensen in Return of the Jedi. Star Wars Episode I was pretty good, Episode II was a bit hard to follow, Episode III was excellent. The problem I had with Episode II was the love story just felt non-existant to me. I mean Anakin was just too whiney in my opinion and some of the dialogue was way too watery.
To be honest, I have nothing against Lucas as a person; I'm sure he's a great guy and everything, especially after hearing what you said. I absolutely love the original trilogy of Star Wars, but I wasn't much of a fan of the prequels, especially Episode II.
But I still watch the original trilogy from time to time, and I will always acknowledge the impact those movies had on films and culture in general. I just kinda wish he would return to that time period, if you will.
I've never seen the last three Star Wars. I've been crazy busy with my personal, philanthropic and business life so I have cut way down on seeing every movie that comes out.
I have an inbuilt radar that selects the movies I need to see. It's kind of like my inner adviser hand selects the movies for me. At this time the last three movies in the trilogy weren't on the list so I can't comment on them. But I'm sure the last 3 must have some hidden insights for the audience to learn some lessons.
i think it is pretty cool of him to continue it. I am sometimes disapointed when something ins't continued like if you've ever seen The Iron Giant (cartoon) The way the ending was it should have continued but it didn't. :(
I do not believe George Lucas has ruined STAR WARS, I thought all 6 films were great (well I thought he could have done a better job with Episode 2, but it still fit into the storyline.) Actually it was STAR WARS that got me interested into film a long time ago. I just did not know how to do it, and when I discovered how, I was already married and working on becoming a journalist. But if it was not for these films I never would have taken this step into a larger world.
The world needs fine screenplay writers. You might want to check out my youtube video called "Sharon A. Fox - 10 Minute Recipe For A Perfect Screenplay"
In it I talk about Joseph Campbell's book that became the bible for George Lucas and Spielberg, "Hero With A Thousand Faces".
In it can be found the secret code for all successful stories, "The Hero's Journey".
I'm in spiritual boot camp and I just go where God feels I can be of service.
I have to admit there are times when I talk back to God, "Can't You get some one else for that job?" Sometimes things He asks me to do seem quite impossible...but then I finally surrender to His Will and say yes.
If there's one thing I have learned it is not to try to negotiate with God. He really does know what is best for me.
The other thing I realize is that I don't really do anything It's God who does the work.
wow well he was like one of my child heros, him and luke :) Ya i used to see the return of the Jedi so many times when i was 10... when i saw episode 1 in theaters it was like wow, my dream come ture i just could not sleep the night before...after it came out in VHS i just saw it so much that i remembered ALL the lines of the movie by heart, ya the best scifi or any other kind of movies ever...i mean can there be anything cooler than a lightsaber?well maybe just jimi hendrix but thats about it.

star wars changed my life i love star wars especailly the knights of the old republic series i love the films i love the legacy of the force books i love lucas i love Vader, Revan, Bane, starkiller and all the others (except palpatine)
Poptalk, I agree, Lucas not only paid homage to Campbell's, "Hero's Journey" but he also brought it to life in a way in which thousands have discovered this tool and have used it not only to better their writing but to better their lives as well.
I talk about this on my video...Sharon A. Fox - 10 Minute Recipe For A Perfect Screenplay.
Oddly enough I was invited to give a "Hero's Journey" talk at a local school. Lucas' daughter was one of the students. My way of saying thanks to George.
I came across this vid by accident, but to answer your question... YES! Mr. Lucas inspired me. I was very young when Star Wars first came out, but it put me on the path to going to film school at USC, where I desperately wanted to make a breakout student film like THX-1138 4EB Electronic Labyrinth. I did. I met him several times. Spent time on the ranch. I've been making science fiction movies to inspire kids myself, all mostly thanks to Mr. Lucas. Go 'SC!
Lufo1138...thank you for sharing how Lucas was such an inspirational spark in your life.
Lucas also donated 175 Million to the USC so his inspiration and movie ticket and merchandising purchases have helped to inspire thousands more.
Skywalker ranch was owned by our neighbors across the street until they sold it to George. As you could tell it is a very inspirational and healing place to nurture creativity.
I visited your site. Your work is awesome! I wish you well in following your bliss.
sharonafox, I think Star wars has influenced a lot of creative people. And the creativity is what I love about Starwars. It's a shame that people don't appreciate what Lucas is trying to do. I grew up with Star Wars and it game me a childhood. It allowed people to dream. I hate that saying that George raped our childhood. That's such a repulsive extreme insult to the man who created star wars. Who gave many inspiration. I don't feel he lost it. I think there are a bunch of fans that have.
I'm both shocked and saddened to hear that anyone would put out the notion that George Lucas raped their childhood. What a malicious thought for anyone to broadcast.
George Lucas has inspired and motivated more people than most presidents. And it is not just George it is the wonderful team of creative people around him that have shared their hearts, soul and creativity.
It's up to parents to create the family environment to give their children a well rounded and inspirational life.
(Special Added Note...Rickinhollywood...I just want to be clear that I wasn't referring to you when I mentioned that it is malicious for people to broadcast the notion that George Lucas raped their childhood. I'm glad you brought that to my attention...because George Lucas can't come out and stand up for himself on that one...but wonderful fans like you and others can...thanks for sharing.
sharona yeah for some reason it's amusing to people to say this stuff about Lucas. Someone even wrote a song with that title and it's on you tube. Check it out it's pretty bad. I'm glad Lucas ignores all the bad and continues to focus on the true Star Wars fans that appreciate the fact that he gave us more. The ones who love Star Wars. And for all the creative people out there who were inspired by this intelligent film maker. Because of Lucas many people have made their dreams come true.
sharonafox1 - I'm a big fan of StarWars and if it wasn't for George we would not have it. And I'm a StarWars chic. Star Wars is growing in Hottness with all the female charachters. It has become a growing fantasy world where fans can dream. I think it inspires anyone with creativity. And George has been a visionary. All the disgruntled fans however that don't appreciate, have gone to the dark side. May the force.... you know the rest.
Well obviously The Force Is With You... One of the most powerful forces in the would is gratitude and you have that in spades. Good luck with all your dreams.
This is the first time that I have seen any of your webdocs on youtube but I have to say that was a very Cool piece. I too had an instance where I spoke with Mr.Prowse on the phone when he owned his fitness centres in England, a very nice man.
Have a good one. I am going to subscribe to you. 5/5 stars
Happy you had a wonderful experience with Dave Prowse. Thanks for sharing good news.
For years I've been so saddened by lies that the tabloids have broadcast about Dave. Many of those lies have Dave saying negative things about George, Star Wars or the fans, which is the furthest from the truth as I'm sure you discovered.
I've known Dave for 30 years and never have I heard him say a negative world about George, Star Wars or fans.
Dave is deeply grateful for Star Wars, George and the fans.
George Lucas best work is done when he collaborates. He has so much depth and creativity. And his gifts really come to fruition when he works with other talented directors, writeres and producers. I for one hope that he has Verdi like longevity in his artistic career.
Well said channeIreview, I think that most creative endeavours are strengthened by collaboration.
Love the collaboration video I did with you and shyaporn "Two Virgins & A Bottle". What an awesome experience. None of us have met. You in Japan, shyaporn in NY and me in Calif.
West Side story was co-directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins. Wise said he would never co-direct again but look what the team created.
The two Steves, Wozniak and Jobs, Simon & Garfunkle....and the list goes on.
Also...channeireview...I wanted to add...I made the comment to Dave, "Gee, Dave is that interesting that the Man known for playing cinema's most famous film villain is one of the planet's biggest champions for children", back in 1978 when there was only one Star Wars movie in existence. Darth Vader's past had not been revealed then. In fact when I heard Lucas planned a 2nd film I told Dave that we would find out that Darth Vader was Luke's dad. Dave didn't believe me...but I was right.
Thank you ... I checked out your site ... hesidoabducido and saw the stormtrooper training video in your favorites box. It was totally hilarious. See it is so amazing how Lucas keeps inspiring people to be creative.
I used to LOVE the George Lucas franchise. He and other directors were the reason I want to make films. But now he is so reliant on green screen and digital effects that the qualities which made his movies so amazing (creativity) is gone. You can tell it's CGI rather than believing that the alient or whatever is real. I miss the old Goerge.
I was awestruck by the original trilogy when I first saw it when I was younger, and I still love it today. I think the prequels however were lacking in the same emotional depth and characterisation the original trilogy had - I can watch and enjoy them, but they are simply not on the same level as the original series. I think Lucas is obviously a very imaginative and talented filmmaker, but he's gone too far with Star Wars.
star wars has actually helped me out through life greatly...but the new clone wars looks like it was made by disney and miley cyrus would be the cocky li`l alien jedi girl. clone wars is totally out of character with its universe and has succumed to the brainwashing `family channel` trend of todays crappy earth society.
Sure - George Lucas inspired us to do our 15th Episode of PipersPicksTV! Don't think he's seen it...yet! I'm sure he'd appreciate the Rescue on Fractaulus/Behind Jaggi Lines reference.
I just viewed your video. I hope George does see it. It's totally brilliant! Your whole site is fantastic!
I think it is great to see how the things that have come out of George Lucas' mind have spawned such creativity.
Two years ago I got to see the amazing film some kids made by duplicating shot for shot the entire movie of the original Indiana Jones movie. I laughed so hard I cried and the whole house from kids to parents filled the theater with ear splitting laughter. It was genius!
Wow! Thank you so much Sharon! We REALLY appreciate that! We're working on our 17th Episode (or "Pick") right now!
I think George Lucas was behind the "Alien Encounters" attraction that was at Disney World. We weren't very happy when it got converted to Stitch. It was so awesome and original.
Thank you for watching! We're going to read the other comments you've posted right now!
Thank you SO, so much Sharon! The ET Episode is always overlooked...and we LOVE that one! ET is just not en vogue at the moment! Maybe with the next re-release! Strange!
It is obvious he really cares about the state of the world and his movies contain cautionary tales about how we are giving our power away to unscrupulous individuals who should not be leaders.
I so appreciate his support of the Dalai Lama and Tibet
Has anyone noticed that Princess Amadala's name, Padme Amadala is actually paying Homage to the Dalai Lama by using the same letters and the word Padme comes from the most famous Tibetan mantra...Om Mani Padme Hum.
The biggest problem the pre-quels had was they had to live up to the expectations of the original trilogy. Given this expectation from the fan-base, which was valid, they had a major let-down with the first one. GL's first chance at showing the fan-base, and he shot himself in the foot when it became obvious he was catering to kids and not the SW fan base. Jar Jar, while being a valid character in a comedy, does not belong in a SW movie. SW is not a comedy.

Darth Vader is not a "villan"!

Thanks for the vid! :-)

George Lucas is awesome. He's infallible. He's like Jesus on guitar.

star wars has actually helped me out through life greatly...but the new clone wars looks like it was made by disney and miley cyrus would be the cocky li`l alien jedi girl. clone wars is totally out of character with its universe and has succumed to the brainwashing `family channel` trend of todays crappy earth society.

I loved the original star wars and have them all on dvd plus episodes 1-3. I have not seen Clone Wars and won't till dvd comes out.
George Lucas has not ruined it just maybe gone a step too far now with his latest movie.
Hugs all the way to you today from James
I am happy is.

Sure - George Lucas inspired us to do our 15th Episode of PipersPicksTV! Don't think he's seen it...yet! I'm sure he'd appreciate the Rescue on Fractaulus/Behind Jaggi Lines reference.
Very nice, personal video you've posted, Sharon!

Strange!

George Lucas inspired me too.
