i also have no idea what my face shape is. its in btwn a long face shape/diamond face shape. if i were to describe it accurately, it would b a long diamond, except the outer edges of the diamond r not pointy, but rather round. i also have a short forehead, which makes my face look extremelyyyy long. i don't know what hairstyle to use...my grad pics came out n my hair looks bad/awkwrd in every single one which makes me kinda sad :( it'd b great if u can help or suggest anything~
Nobody can decide what shape my face is :( I've been wanting to chop my hair off for a while and go for a faux hawk for a year or two, so I posted a pic of myself on fb and asked for opinions. So far diamond, oval, and square. More say oval that diamond or square. Can u help??
Hi, wispy bangs are great to help soften the roundness. You can style them so they don't get puffy with a blow dryer and round brush or flat iron. Wearing your hair longer and blunt cut one length with help with the puffiness.
Hi! I have high and wide forehead but my cheekbones are a bit smaller and my jawline is even smaller. I have long hair for as long as I can remember. I still want them long but maybe that a bit trendier if you know what I mean. I have searched everywhere but I still can't understand what would suit me. Thank you!
Hi, it sounds like you have a heart-shaped face, but of course, I cannot be 100% sure without seeing you. I think you would look great with side swept bangs and not too short. You want them to hit the top arch of your brow. Bangs look great on a heart-shaped face because they balance out your face which is larger on top and smaller on the bottom. Side-swept bangs will help to draw attention to your eyes and downward.
heyy!i am really tired of my natural hair. i have long black curly hair.I am an indian. am not too sure of the shape of my face these are the measurements. Could u pls advice me on how my hair should me kept.
face length : 22 cm
forehead: 15 cm
jaw: 21 cm
cheekbone :17 cm
Thanks so much. i look forward to the hairstyle u advice me to keep =]
Hi, it's very hard for he to venture a guess just based on measurements without also seeing you, but I would say that you probably have a pear-shaped face. For that you want to expose your forehead more to draw attention away from your full jawline. Try pushing hair back with a stylish headband or hold bangs back with a clip. Tuck your hair behind your ears this helps to highlight your cheekbones. Avoid excessive waves or curls as they tend to widen the jawline. Layers work great to soften.
Hi, I think short hair would be very nice with your face shape. Either curly or straight would look equally well. If you have naturally curly hair, be sure to discuss the short hairstyle you want with your hairdresser before he/she cuts your hair to make sure it is easy for you to style. Many times people will opt for a beautiful short style, but it takes so much to achieve the look because the texture of their hair isn't as suitable for the style.
hi! ur videos are all so helpful! ive recently decided to have my hair cut after a long time and right now its a little longer than the middle of my back.my face measurements are:
forehead=13 cm
cheekbones=24cm (mainly due to my big nose :P)
jaw = 21 cm
face length = 19 cm.
could u pls advise me as to what would look good on me? i love bangs of any kind :) but wud they be good on me??
I'm getting my hair cut and getting blonde highlights (all over). I think I've got a square face but I'm not sure so what hair style do you think would suit me/my face shape??
Hi, it's hard to suggest a hairstyle without seeing you, and I definitely think you should ask your hairdresser for her opinion before she cuts your hair. With a square face, you want to minimize the squareness by softening your look at the jawline. You didn't mention your hair length, but if you have longer hair, adding layers that start at chin length and go down are very flattering. Bangs are great too to add some height at the crown, but not blunt cut straight across. Good Luck :o)
Hi, it's so hard for me to say without seeing you in person. Generally a person with an oval face can wear any type of hairstyle successfully. The same goes for a diamond-shape face. As a diamond shape face has more dramatic features, wearing your hair in a way that add width at the chin area such as chin length bob cuts work great as do cuts that are tucked behind the ears. You want to concentrate on adding fullness at the chin and not the cheekbones; and a bit of fullness in the bang area.
Hi, for a long face, you want to try to add width and minimize vertical length. You can do this by adding bangs; side swept or wispy but no height in the bangs. Also, chin and shoulder length looks that turn under or out also work very well to add width.
hi i have a heart-shaped face but then i love to have bangs so i cut it and the effect is too bad.. i don't really like it because i cut it just above my eyebrows. it's too short.. i felt bad bout my hair.. how could i make my hair looks good again by just fixing it?? i mean what's the style in fixing a short bangs for a heart-shape face?
Hi, you can try to brush them off to the side. But unfortunately, you just have to wait for them to grow longer. In about two weeks, they will look better as they will have grown a bit.
Hi, bangs are fine, but be sure to add some volume at the top of the head through a series of layers or heightened bangs. This will help elongate the face. I would also suggest side-swept bangs rather than straight across. Keep them a bit on the longer side. Just past your eyebrows is fine and you can sweep them to the side.
hello! I have a round-shaped face. I'm so sick of my black, shoulder-length hair right now. I was thinking of an auburn or brown red hair. Bob. And i wish it has a little volume. ^_^
Is it a good or bad idea? I have dark brown skin!
Just want your opinion. Or, could you suggest another one if it IS a bad idea?
Hi, go ahead and experiment with color, but be sure to choose a semi permanent or demi permanent color which will wash out in either 28 days or 7 days. It's a great way to see what looks nice on you without the commitment of permanent color. It's hard for me to recommend a color for you without seeing you, but dark skin does look very nice with a brown red or auburn on most. I would not recommend a bob hairstyle for your face shape as this will only result in it looking rounder and fuller.
If you want to go shorter, I would recommend that you add volume at the top of the head through a with layers or heightened bangs. This will help elongate the face. Using an off-centered part with a short style helps break up a rounded look. You want your hair to either fall longer than your chin or shorter than your cheeks to offset the fullness of a round face. Hope that helps! Please stop back and let me know what color you decided to try and how it came out.
Hi--I have a heart shaped face--I have to wear softer cuts--waves---not choppy styles and bangs do not work for my face...would you agree side swept bangs are good for heart shape faces? nothing severe right? I love short punky hair and my friend can wear it like she invented it--she looks great--I cannot pull that off..
Hi, I agree that side-swept bangs would be great. When you have time, look up pictures of Reese Witherspoon. She has the classic heart-shaped face. She has been wearing side-swept bangs for a while now and she looks awesome.
Hi, to bring out your eyes and make them look bigger, you may want to keep your bangs at or slightly above your eyebrows, but not below or you will make your eyes look smaller.
Hey, first of all, I wanna thank you for this video :)
so i have a round/oval face, but its a bit of a more round one. I reeeally want bangs cut across, but with a bit of layers on the side rather than just a blunt cross cut. Should I go for it?
Hi, you should definitely go for it. Keep them side swept, choppy, layered, wispy, or angled, but not straight across as this does not flatter a round face.
my face shape is a mixture between oval and heart shaped right now i have an inverted bob but i realllly want to go shorter i also have a crooked jaw due to a cross bite would i still be able to go short?
Hi, regardless of your face shape, this hair cut will look great; whether you have a round, oval, diamond, heart shaped, square face shape this hair style will look great.. If you would like to go shorter you certainly can :o)
Hi, it shouldn't be a problem if you remember to dry and style your hair without wearing your glasses. Once your hair is dry and styled, wearing your glasses won't alter how your hair lies. This is what I do as I too wear glasses.
Hi, avoid bangs cut straight across; will square you up too much. Keep them wispy. You can add some layers with them at the crow to help give you a little height. This will help elongate your face.
Hi, since your pointy chin tends to be the focal point of your face, you want to draw attention to your eyes and cheekbones. This can be done with side-swept bangs brow-grazing fringe. If you like your hair short, keep the top layers soft and long. If you like long hair, long layers that graze your cheek bones are best.
My face is more of an oval. But not a lot of hair styles work for me. My hair is around six inches past my shoulder and very thick. Towards the top of my head the hair is soft and smooth, but it gets poofy more towards the ends. I have had long layers and it seems to just make my hair more poofy towards the top. Bangs make my nose look very large, and when my hair is very long it tends to be flat at the top and fluffy as it go's down. I do not want to flat iron it. What should I do?
Hi, you can have your hairdresser cut a layer into the bottom of your hair or texturize the bottom to thin it out. You can grow your bangs out to at your cheek to chin area to minimize your nose.
i have curly wavy hair and i wear it naturally but I also straighten it, so when i go in to get it cut should i go with my hair natural or straightened?
Hi, when you go to the salon, you should go the way you always wear your hair, unless you want to do something with your natural hair. If the hairdresser sees your natural curly hair, she may have suggestions for you on how you can best wear your hair to suit your face and to avoid straightening it all the time.
i have an oval face and i dont have a big forehead...so when i get side swept bangs it usually covers up most of my face on the side...i have long black hair and huge curls and its kinda wavy too..please suggest a nice hairstyle for me..i dont really want my hair short ..i just want it medium or a bit long...usually i go for a layer cut but it doesnt seem to be going well with my face...please help :)...
Hi, your hair sound beautiful. Why not grow your bangs out longer and blend them with your side hair. No need to cover up your face. Trim your hair to the length you desire. I would suggest about three inches past your shoulder so it doesn't puff out too much as you said it's can be wavy and the extra weight of the long hair will hold it down more. Cut a few long layers that start at your chin and go down to add some interest at the sides. What do you think?
i have a round face and i personaly think i have a big forehead :l i have sideswept bangs for about 6 years now and im kind of tired of them, i found a cute way to pin them back but i dont like showing my forehead so i dont know what to do,my hair is med length, straight and thin, and i also have alot of baby hair, is it possible to grow them out someway? im 16 and i dont want hairstyles to make me look younger than i already do . any tips?
Hi, try letting them grow out to a longer side layer and keep it closer to your face to narrow it. You will still be able to reduce the fullness of your face without having bangs on your forehead.
what types of bangs work for girls with round faces. I have a round face but i have a larger forehead that is slightly narrower than my cheeks b/c of the bone structure. My hair is medium to thick, more wavy than curly, but i can straighten it quite easily. Would straight across bangs look bad compared to side bangs if i keep them light and choppy so they aren't so blunt???
Hi, you don't want your bangs cut straight across your forehead; your face will look rounder. It's best if you keep them side swept. You need a bit of forehead showing to balance out the rest of your face.
Hi, adding layers to your hair at the crown and blending to the sides will help give you volume. Let the hair fall in different directions from the part area. Having an ambiguous part will help to hide the thinning. This may also lighten the weight of your long hair. Sometimes the weight can cause thinning at the crown. Be sure to avoid pulling your hair back tightly you don't want to put any pressure on the area.
Hi, for an oblong face, you want to try to add width to give you a more oval appearance. I think you would benefit from cutting your hair to shoulder length to give the illusion of width. If you don't want to take that much off your hair, you can keep your medium length and cut some face framing layers. Cut them at your nose level, chin level, and base of your neck. I would also recommend bangs.
@YouTips4U its quite long and thick, its african hair, but i straighten it all the time. Its below shoulder length. I have a young looking face and i thought my hairstyle would help me out wit that. thanks alot. Would you have anymore advice?
Hello, I have a round face. I have tried several haircuts such as medium length parked to the side, a buzz cut(2 all around) and a high and tight hair cut where i got it very short on the sides and the back and left more hair on the top. What would you reccomend to me?
i have a round face with thick wavy hair and right now my hair is about between my chin and shoulders. I find my hair is bland and i would like to get a style. what do you recamend.
Hi, long layers look great on round faces. I would recommend that you grow your hair longer than your chin and ask for long layers cut into your hair. Start them below your chin to help narrow your face.
I have brown, mid lenght hair ( Near the elbows) I have a round face and I'm still hesitating what hairstyle would suit me best. I've been thiking of getting bangs, I have large forehead. Though I have glasses. =// tips please. ;;__;:
Hi, I think bangs would be lovely. Keep them wispy and perhaps side swept rather than blunt straight across. You may also want to consider long layers framing your face which when worn close to your face will help to make your face appear more oval which is what you want to do to balance your look.
thank you so much!! i have an oval face and i'v never really liked my hair down. Now i know its because i wear my hair very close to my face and it makes my nose look wierd. Just subscribed!
I'm not sure about my face shape, but i have a very well suited side fringe, and the rest of my hairs length ranges from half an inch to 1.5 inches. Now thats short
and my hair has side bangs going to my left with some layers that aren't that short but its at least down to half the size of where my hair is actually grown out which is down to my shoulder
i really want a new style but im really confused and i dont really wanna cut my hair
Hi, can you be more specific about your face shape because I would vary my answer depending on whether you are round or oval. These are two very unique shapes with different ways to enhance. . Thanks :o)
Hi, the same theory applies to men as well. As a general rule you want to balance your face to achieve an oval shape, which is the most desired shape. To do this, long faces need shortening, and wide faces need lengthening. A great tip is to flip through a magazine of celebrities and find some that have your face shape. You don't have to be exact. Chances are their style will look terrific on you too. You know that most celebrities go to pro stylists so they have done your ground work.
Hi, with a pear shaped face, you'll want to add volume at the forehead with bangs to creating some height and fullness at the top of the head where you are narrow. It's best to angle them slightly. Or, you can expose your forehead which helps draw attention upward and away from a full jaw line. Try pushing your hair back with a pretty head band or use a clip to hold bangs back. You basically want a style that will narrow your chin and widen your forehead.
hi I'm Bea. i just used my cousin's account. i think i have long shape face and i'm going to have a haircut this weekend. i'm just thinking on what hairstyle i'll go with. i recently have slightly long wavy hair. any suggestions? Thanks a lot!
Hello :) I am Zoe and my face shape is like yous, it's a bit squeary.Right now my hair is medium to long and I have a kind of beng that covers a lot of my forehead.
It's curly but I straight it all the time ,so my hair looks always straight. What type of hair suits me?
Hi Zoe, to help soften the squareness you said you have, you can add some long layers starting at your jawline and continuing on down to help minimize a prominent jaw. If your bangs are cut in a straight line that will make you look more square, so you may want to angle them or grow them out.
Hi, with a diamond shaped face, you want to add fullness and width to your forehead and chin. You can add width to your forehead with side-swept wide bangs. You should also keep the sides of your hair close to your cheeks to narrow that area. The perfect length is chin cut full , but if you want to wear it longer, layers starting at the chin and going down would be great.
tnx... :D but there's another problem, if I would keep my hair close to my cheeks, the first thing that people would notice about me is my nose and I'm kinda not liking my nose since it's flat (i'm southeast-asian) any tips about that... sorry for too many questions...
Thank you very much. This video was so helpful, and you explained everything so simply. I've been battling what to do with my hair, but I know what would look best now. Thanks again
I THINK I have a rectangular face shape. My jaw is 2 inches wider than my cheeks and forehead (which are equal) and the length of my face is almost 2 inches more than the width. My chin is also narrow and very rounded (not square at all). It looks like a slope from my jawline to my chin. I always have trouble finding the right hair cut because it either makes my face look too long or too wide at the jaw.
Hi! My name is Petrina and I have a thin oval face/oblong with a high hair line (thanks to the Italian gene). I don't exactly know which category I fit into so I'm going to guess that I'm oblong..? Anyway, I have thick, curly brown hair with bangs which I cut myself. The bangs cover the harsh hairline, but I have a predicament. I want to get my hair cut soon, but I don't know what to do because my hair type is hard to work with sometimes and it poofs....lol. What should I do? Help! haha
Hi Petrina, you hair sounds beautiful and I do think the bangs are a great idea for you. You may want to consider wearing your hair a bit on the longer side to help keep it from poofing. I have a video upcoming on curly hair tips that I think you will find helpful, so please stay tuned :o)
I also have the same problem...my hair is a fine texture. I have it in medium layers, but it still manages to poof a bit. Naturally, it is slightly wavy, but not drastically (one of the reasons why I don't like to let it air-dry unless I'm at home!).
Hi! My name is Angel, and i have a round-heart shaped face. My hair is blond and it's shoulder length with a little layers and side-swept bangs, so what hairstyle would you recommend? More Layers? what kind of Up-do's? Should i wear it down more? It's also a little curly. I'm stuck on what to do! haha. please help!!! :]
Hi Angel, you hair is lovely and suits you so well. I saw you in your video. I don't think you need more layers. You have nice movement to your hair already. You could grow it a few inches more, perhaps a bit past your shoulders. I love your side bangs. You could neaten them up a bit the next time you go to the salon. An up do would look super on you. Take a look at my video for how to do it.. Pulling a few curly tendrils out to frame your face would look lovely.
I used to have blonde hair- that my natural colour but i died it dark brown and it starting to go away i really want it back to a lighter colour without waiting for it to come out as i dont like it when roots show please help
Hi, did you use a permanent hair color. If you used semi permanent, it will wash out in about a month. If you used permanent, you will have to wait for it to grow out, otherwise you would have to try to color correct it, which I wouldn't recommend you do yourself. You should definitely see a professional colorist for this and get their opinion..
I have a TOTALLY square head..the squarest I have ever seen! At my age(a youthful 58) I cannot locate any hairstyle magazines that present anything other than young women and complicated hairstyles. Is there a site that may help me seek a new style? Currently my hair is almost to my waist and very straight! I do not color it, so the color could be called pewter...lol. I would cut it in a heartbeat if it was the right style!
Hi, the right cut would do wonders to soften your square face shape. How about adding some wispy face framing layers. Curving layers that fall around your face tends to remove the squareness of your face. You can stay long or cut your hair up to a medium length. You may also want to consider side parting or side swept bangs. I will email you some virtual makeover sites where you can upload a photo of yourself and try different hairstyles.
My hair is just slightly shorter than yours and very curly black hair. I am desperate for a change, but don't know what. I would prefer to keep it long, but I have asked hairdressers for suggestions but no avail. I have looked in magazines etc but it seems that for long curly hair the options are limited. Have you any suggestions?
Hi, in my opinion curly hair looks best when kept in it's natural state without too much fussing. Perhaps you can make a small change around your face to give you a different look without getting too drastic and see how it comes out. Speak to your hairdresser about perhaps cutting some layers into your hair around your face. Be careful not to go too short with them because you don't want it to puff out. I have a curly hair video upcoming in the future that I think you will find helpful.
Hi, an oval face is very versatile and can look very nice with many different hairstyles, so it's really up to you how short you want to go. Pay attention to whether your want to bring out your eyes with bangs, whether you want your hair in a more high maintenance cut that depends a lot on styling vs. something easy to take care of. Speak with your hairdresser before she cuts your hair and while it's still dry and get some feedback from her/him. Good luck :o)
I have a pear shaped face and I have no idea how to wear my hair! I've noticed that I do need to have layers around my face or else my forehead looks huge. Normal bangs make my face look poofy so I generally go for side-swept bangs. Any tips?
Side swept bangs are great. If you have bangs, angle them slightly and tuck them behind the ears to frame the jaw line and draw attention upward. While height is good, too much fullness at the crown is not. Long layers are great, but keep the hair as close to your head as possible; anything too voluminous will add weight to the bottom of the face and since a pear shaped face is larger at the jawline, you want to diminish that. You want to widen the forehead and narrow the chin.
Hi I have really long hair and a round/oval shaped face. I don't like my nose much tho. What can I do with my hair? I would like it more styled at the moment I have no layers or bangs. what would suit my face shape? x
Hi, you can make a small change to spruce up your lovely long hair without too much commitment. How about trying some long face-framing layers? It will add some interest around your face and help to bring out your features. Speak to your hairdresser about your face shape and hair texture and ask her where she feels your layers should begin.
i have a realllyyy round face!! but i don't really want any bangs... long bangs would be ok, but i don't want any acne on my forehead. i have shoulder length hair now and want to grow it like 3 inches above my elbow. what hair should i get?
Hi, bangs should not cause you further acne. I had them for years in college and thereafter and they did not cause me any more breakouts than when I didn't have them. Acne is more of a hormonal issue. If you keep your face clean, you can control it a lot. With a round face bangs are nice, but you don't have to have them. You can have longer layers that begin at chin length and come in at your cheeks. This will help elongate your face.
Hi, bangs would be great for you. they will help you soften your wide hairline. Layering your hair also helps to soften the jaw line.Side parting and side swept bangs as you have been wearing is also nice because it breaks up the squareness of your face. Hope that helps :o)
love your tips, really makes sense and i wanted to ask what hairstyle would be best for a oval/round face, the problem is i have very fine/thin hair and need volume but i want to make my eyes pop b/c i think thats my best feature on face, anyway do you think bangs will suit me? or any other style you have in mind? thank y
Hi, I'm so glad you are finding my videos helpful. Bangs are a great way to bring attention to your eyes. I think you can definitely wear them with your face shape. For very fine hair, you'll want to keep hair to shoulder length or shorter cuts, it helps to add volume. One length bobs work great and if your hair has a wave to it you can try layers too. But not too many
niceee!! thank you!! any more tips for a long face?? i have a long face but i don't like short hair, and is straight; what kind of bangs do you recomend? or what other haircut besides layered or short? thank you ;)
Too long hair can pull your long face down and make it appear longer. You can do long layers with pieces hitting at the nose, the chin and the collarbone. You may want to consider a v-shaped style where the length is mainly in the back, while the sides and front of your hair appear shorter. I think bangs are great, brow length is nice and side swept. Avoid any height with the bangs because it will make face longer.
I have a long thin face, I lprefer my bangs straight across, bc, I tried the side swept, but they made fy face look thinnner, straight across makes it look shorter
PLEASE HELP!! I have a oval face shape,But with a sort of pointed chin. I have medium Thickness with my hair and i was thinking of layering to give it more voloume it looks lank. Can i get a Side fringe as well?
hi! Thanks for uploading this video! it helped me abit (: But, i still don't know what hairstyle fits me! I have a round face, pretty wide sides if you ask me. I have my fringe tilted to the right. I was thinking of cutting long bangs? any suggestions? :D
Long layers would be a great option for you. Keep hair longer than the chin to minimize the width of your face. You can also try layering the top to achieve fullness and keeping the rest of the cut relatively close to the face, your round face shape will appear longer and narrower. Hope that helps :o)
Hi, for a long face, you'll want to add a little width and fullness at your sides.Curls and waves also add width, but avoid short layers that add volume on top. Chin-length bobs and cuts are also ideal for you because they create the illusion of width. If you have straight hair, you can create more width with bangs. Bangs make your face appear shorter. You can wear anything from blunt bangs to long, side-swept bangs. Hope that helps :o)
You are gorgeous! If you have a round face you can style your hair like selena gomez, wear huge long hair, wear layers highly recommmended!well there's tons you can do ...I have a round face and has experimented with many hairstyles ..lesson learned try a wig that has the hairstyle you're thinking of getting BEFORE GETTING IT CUT!
ok I have a tough one.... I have the chin of a heart shape face but my face is also round. my forehead is literally an inch long (soooo small). I am a new mom but everyone thinks I'm a "teen mom" (I'm a month away from 25!) Right now, my hair is at my shoulders, with layers and a side swep bang and I've had this look for about 3 years and it's getting old lol any ideas???
Hi, congratulations on your new baby! Your hairstyle sounds great, but I understand you wanting a change. Have you thought about growing out your bangs and wearing your hair longer with long layers (kinda like Jennifer Aniston)? Since you have a round face, longer layers at the widest part of your face can be slimming and since you have a small forehead you're a great candidate for growing out your bangs. Let me know what you think :o)

Hi, it sounds like you may have a round face shape or a square face shape, but without seeing you, it is really hard for me to say.

i also have no idea what my face shape is. its in btwn a long face shape/diamond face shape. if i were to describe it accurately, it would b a long diamond, except the outer edges of the diamond r not pointy, but rather round. i also have a short forehead, which makes my face look extremelyyyy long. i don't know what hairstyle to use...my grad pics came out n my hair looks bad/awkwrd in every single one which makes me kinda sad :( it'd b great if u can help or suggest anything~

Nobody can decide what shape my face is :( I've been wanting to chop my hair off for a while and go for a faux hawk for a year or two, so I posted a pic of myself on fb and asked for opinions. So far diamond, oval, and square. More say oval that diamond or square. Can u help??

Hi, I have an Oval Face and I have medium length hair. I was just wondering what I should do with my hair so that I can bring out my cheekbones.
fricklove 9 months ago

YouTips4U 11 months ago
@YouTips4U thanks so much. but do u think i should straighten my hair or keep it curly. and would short hair suit me?

Hi, I think short hair would be very nice with your face shape. Either curly or straight would look equally well. If you have naturally curly hair, be sure to discuss the short hairstyle you want with your hairdresser before he/she cuts your hair to make sure it is easy for you to style. Many times people will opt for a beautiful short style, but it takes so much to achieve the look because the texture of their hair isn't as suitable for the style.

I'm getting my hair cut and getting blonde highlights (all over). I think I've got a square face but I'm not sure so what hair style do you think would suit me/my face shape??
Renitsonx 1 year ago
Hi, it's hard to suggest a hairstyle without seeing you, and I definitely think you should ask your hairdresser for her opinion before she cuts your hair. With a square face, you want to minimize the squareness by softening your look at the jawline. You didn't mention your hair length, but if you have longer hair, adding layers that start at chin length and go down are very flattering. Bangs are great too to add some height at the crown, but not blunt cut straight across. Good Luck :o)

Hi,can you tell me what is a good hair style for diamond-oval face shape?
1Isabella11 1 year ago
Hi, it's so hard for me to say without seeing you in person. Generally a person with an oval face can wear any type of hairstyle successfully. The same goes for a diamond-shape face. As a diamond shape face has more dramatic features, wearing your hair in a way that add width at the chin area such as chin length bob cuts work great as do cuts that are tucked behind the ears. You want to concentrate on adding fullness at the chin and not the cheekbones; and a bit of fullness in the bang area.

what is a good hair style for a long face.. i have medium length hair..
freebitch92 1 year ago
Hi, for a long face, you want to try to add width and minimize vertical length. You can do this by adding bangs; side swept or wispy but no height in the bangs. Also, chin and shoulder length looks that turn under or out also work very well to add width.

Or, could you suggest another one if it IS a bad idea?
tanyaaX000 1 year ago
Hi, go ahead and experiment with color, but be sure to choose a semi permanent or demi permanent color which will wash out in either 28 days or 7 days. It's a great way to see what looks nice on you without the commitment of permanent color. It's hard for me to recommend a color for you without seeing you, but dark skin does look very nice with a brown red or auburn on most. I would not recommend a bob hairstyle for your face shape as this will only result in it looking rounder and fuller.
YouTips4U 1 year ago

I love short punky hair and my friend can wear it like she invented it--she looks great--I cannot pull that off..
chey66 1 year ago
Hi, I agree that side-swept bangs would be great. When you have time, look up pictures of Reese Witherspoon. She has the classic heart-shaped face. She has been wearing side-swept bangs for a while now and she looks awesome.

so i have a round/oval face, but its a bit of a more round one. I reeeally want bangs cut across, but with a bit of layers on the side rather than just a blunt cross cut. Should I go for it?
Annmarie8632 1 year ago
Hi, you should definitely go for it. Keep them side swept, choppy, layered, wispy, or angled, but not straight across as this does not flatter a round face.

Hi, it shouldn't be a problem if you remember to dry and style your hair without wearing your glasses. Once your hair is dry and styled, wearing your glasses won't alter how your hair lies. This is what I do as I too wear glasses.

I have a long squared face.... do u think i should get front bangs( cover my whole forehead) if not then what should I get??
Themsbeatlesrock 1 year ago
Hi, avoid bangs cut straight across; will square you up too much. Keep them wispy. You can add some layers with them at the crow to help give you a little height. This will help elongate your face.
YouTips4U 1 year ago
what about a hair style for a heart shaped face??
rocktaffy4 1 year ago
Hi, since your pointy chin tends to be the focal point of your face, you want to draw attention to your eyes and cheekbones. This can be done with side-swept bangs brow-grazing fringe. If you like your hair short, keep the top layers soft and long. If you like long hair, long layers that graze your cheek bones are best.
YouTips4U 1 year ago
i have a round face and chubby cheekbones, but also my chin points out a bit too. would i look best with short hair, or long hair?

My face is more of an oval. But not a lot of hair styles work for me. My hair is around six inches past my shoulder and very thick. Towards the top of my head the hair is soft and smooth, but it gets poofy more towards the ends. I have had long layers and it seems to just make my hair more poofy towards the top. Bangs make my nose look very large, and when my hair is very long it tends to be flat at the top and fluffy as it go's down. I do not want to flat iron it. What should I do?
megawhateve 1 year ago
Hi, you can have your hairdresser cut a layer into the bottom of your hair or texturize the bottom to thin it out. You can grow your bangs out to at your cheek to chin area to minimize your nose.

Hi, when you go to the salon, you should go the way you always wear your hair, unless you want to do something with your natural hair. If the hairdresser sees your natural curly hair, she may have suggestions for you on how you can best wear your hair to suit your face and to avoid straightening it all the time.

i have an oval face and i dont have a big forehead...so when i get side swept bangs it usually covers up most of my face on the side...i have long black hair and huge curls and its kinda wavy too..please suggest a nice hairstyle for me..i dont really want my hair short ..i just want it medium or a bit long...usually i go for a layer cut but it doesnt seem to be going well with my face...please help :)...
sophiak93 1 year ago
Hi, your hair sound beautiful. Why not grow your bangs out longer and blend them with your side hair. No need to cover up your face. Trim your hair to the length you desire. I would suggest about three inches past your shoulder so it doesn't puff out too much as you said it's can be wavy and the extra weight of the long hair will hold it down more. Cut a few long layers that start at your chin and go down to add some interest at the sides. What do you think?

chelsyelise 1 year ago
Hi, try letting them grow out to a longer side layer and keep it closer to your face to narrow it. You will still be able to reduce the fullness of your face without having bangs on your forehead.
YouTips4U 1 year ago
what types of bangs work for girls with round faces. I have a round face but i have a larger forehead that is slightly narrower than my cheeks b/c of the bone structure. My hair is medium to thick, more wavy than curly, but i can straighten it quite easily. Would straight across bangs look bad compared to side bangs if i keep them light and choppy so they aren't so blunt???
crazydancer9288 1 year ago
Hi, you don't want your bangs cut straight across your forehead; your face will look rounder. It's best if you keep them side swept. You need a bit of forehead showing to balance out the rest of your face.
YouTips4U 1 year ago
hi im 30 years old i have long hair but latly its geting thiner from the front can u help me with ahair cut to get volum thx
badboy4ever5 1 year ago
Hi, adding layers to your hair at the crown and blending to the sides will help give you volume. Let the hair fall in different directions from the part area. Having an ambiguous part will help to hide the thinning. This may also lighten the weight of your long hair. Sometimes the weight can cause thinning at the crown. Be sure to avoid pulling your hair back tightly you don't want to put any pressure on the area.
YouTips4U 1 year ago
Hi, for an oblong face, you want to try to add width to give you a more oval appearance. I think you would benefit from cutting your hair to shoulder length to give the illusion of width. If you don't want to take that much off your hair, you can keep your medium length and cut some face framing layers. Cut them at your nose level, chin level, and base of your neck. I would also recommend bangs.
YouTips4U 1 year ago

Hi, I think bangs would be lovely. Keep them wispy and perhaps side swept rather than blunt straight across. You may also want to consider long layers framing your face which when worn close to your face will help to make your face appear more oval which is what you want to do to balance your look.

smartchild100 1 year ago
Hi, the same theory applies to men as well. As a general rule you want to balance your face to achieve an oval shape, which is the most desired shape. To do this, long faces need shortening, and wide faces need lengthening. A great tip is to flip through a magazine of celebrities and find some that have your face shape. You don't have to be exact. Chances are their style will look terrific on you too. You know that most celebrities go to pro stylists so they have done your ground work.

what about a pearface?
LolaExotic 1 year ago
Hi, with a pear shaped face, you'll want to add volume at the forehead with bangs to creating some height and fullness at the top of the head where you are narrow. It's best to angle them slightly. Or, you can expose your forehead which helps draw attention upward and away from a full jaw line. Try pushing your hair back with a pretty head band or use a clip to hold bangs back. You basically want a style that will narrow your chin and widen your forehead.

It's curly but I straight it all the time ,so my hair looks always straight. What type of hair suits me?

TheBlackZoe 1 year ago
Hi Zoe, to help soften the squareness you said you have, you can add some long layers starting at your jawline and continuing on down to help minimize a prominent jaw. If your bangs are cut in a straight line that will make you look more square, so you may want to angle them or grow them out.

what should i do with my diamond face? pls rply...
JoeloveLovelle 1 year ago
Hi, with a diamond shaped face, you want to add fullness and width to your forehead and chin. You can add width to your forehead with side-swept wide bangs. You should also keep the sides of your hair close to your cheeks to narrow that area. The perfect length is chin cut full , but if you want to wear it longer, layers starting at the chin and going down would be great.

Help! haha

I also have the same problem...my hair is a fine texture. I have it in medium layers, but it still manages to poof a bit. Naturally, it is slightly wavy, but not drastically (one of the reasons why I don't like to let it air-dry unless I'm at home!).

YouTips4U 2 years ago
I have a TOTALLY square head..the squarest I have ever seen! At my age(a youthful 58) I cannot locate any hairstyle magazines that present anything other than young women and complicated hairstyles. Is there a site that may help me seek a new style? Currently my hair is almost to my waist and very straight! I do not color it, so the color could be called pewter...lol. I would cut it in a heartbeat if it was the right style!
MissPickletoes 2 years ago
Hi, the right cut would do wonders to soften your square face shape. How about adding some wispy face framing layers. Curving layers that fall around your face tends to remove the squareness of your face. You can stay long or cut your hair up to a medium length. You may also want to consider side parting or side swept bangs. I will email you some virtual makeover sites where you can upload a photo of yourself and try different hairstyles.

Thank you!!

TheScubadiver1976 2 years ago
Hi, in my opinion curly hair looks best when kept in it's natural state without too much fussing. Perhaps you can make a small change around your face to give you a different look without getting too drastic and see how it comes out. Speak to your hairdresser about perhaps cutting some layers into your hair around your face. Be careful not to go too short with them because you don't want it to puff out. I have a curly hair video upcoming in the future that I think you will find helpful.

I have quite fuzzy hair and an oval face, I am also very tall and I am going for a short hair style. Can you help me?
jellybeansrkool 2 years ago

Any tips?
NellBrent 2 years ago
Side swept bangs are great. If you have bangs, angle them slightly and tuck them behind the ears to frame the jaw line and draw attention upward. While height is good, too much fullness at the crown is not. Long layers are great, but keep the hair as close to your head as possible; anything too voluminous will add weight to the bottom of the face and since a pear shaped face is larger at the jawline, you want to diminish that. You want to widen the forehead and narrow the chin.

Hi, you can make a small change to spruce up your lovely long hair without too much commitment. How about trying some long face-framing layers? It will add some interest around your face and help to bring out your features. Speak to your hairdresser about your face shape and hair texture and ask her where she feels your layers should begin.

This will help elongate your face.

hi!i think i have a rectangular face.i want to have a fringe..but i always had swept side fringe and i want to try something new.any ideas?

Hi, bangs would be great for you. they will help you soften your wide hairline. Layering your hair also helps to soften the jaw line.Side parting and side swept bangs as you have been wearing is also nice because it breaks up the squareness of your face. Hope that helps :o)

@YouTips4U thank you very much.i have a last question.the fringes and the bangs are the same thing?
margitaki 2 years ago
I think so. I'm referring to hair that comes down your forehead up to or past your eyebrows. Are you referring to that too?
YouTips4U 2 years ago
@YouTips4U yes i suppose they are the same!

love your tips, really makes sense and i wanted to ask what hairstyle would be best for a oval/round face, the problem is i have very fine/thin hair and need volume but i want to make my eyes pop b/c i think thats my best feature on face, anyway do you think bangs will suit me? or any other style you have in mind?

I have a long thin face, I lprefer my bangs straight across, bc, I tried the side swept, but they made fy face look thinnner, straight across makes it look shorter

Hope that helps :o)

i have a long face pointed chin and small eye ...which hairstyle is suitable for me?
5588easy 2 years ago
Hi, for a long face, you'll want to add a little width and fullness at your sides.Curls and waves also add width, but avoid short layers that add volume on top. Chin-length bobs and cuts are also ideal for you because they create the illusion of width. If you have straight hair, you can create more width with bangs. Bangs make your face appear shorter. You can wear anything from blunt bangs to long, side-swept bangs. Hope that helps :o)

ok I have a tough one....
