this is the 21st century and everybody feels okay about coming out and all that. This is not back in 70s or whichever that everybody gets all offensive.
Invest in Microsoft, and don't worry so much about what people think about you. (technically one sentence)
World wide literacy and book sharing. So many people don't have the amazing libraries that we in the U.S. share. That's a cause worth fighting for. I'm not sure if it's a real charity/cause or whatever but that's what I feel passionate about. Reading. Everyone should be able to learn to read, and everyone should have access to more books.
Advice that I would give myself would be to always be proud to be diferent!! - Like I am proud now :D
If I could only chose one big social change/cause to represent would be Anti-Discrimination in general. I already do things in my community to work against discrimination.
1) Don't push away everyone who ever loved you; eventually you run out of people who can make you love them back.
2) For family members to treat each other with love and respect no matter what because family love should be unconditional. I don't know how to make that happen, but...I decided to start by loving my own family whether or not they'll disown me if I come out.
*i would totally devote myself to straits for gay rights[ fyi: i wish i was a lesbian but it didn't work out that way...i couldn't wish myself gay, they cant wish themselves strait. were all in the same boat <33]
(2) I'd say world peace, but I'd drive myself crazy with that impossible dream. Therefore, wake up each day with kindness on my mind and spread it as far as it will go.
I'd love to give a video response and I do have a camera, but I have no idea how to get a video from the camera to youtube. And: since ALL your friends can see any vid you post, it'd be akward considering how far back in my closet I am.
I think I would tell myself "Kiss her already!".Things might have worked out differently.
I would give my life for religious tolerance. There are some many people who say they give their lives and many whom have given it to their religion.Well I say tolerance!
1. dont let people take advantage of you, be stronger.
2.Save the music. there are so many causes people fight for that dont change anything or that dont directly effect thier lives or that they arent really involved in. what i'm passionate about is saving music. saving the classics. save the music class in school that budget cuts are taking away. . with out music we would have a language undiscovered, a beauty not revealed,a gift never given.
1) I wouldn't allow myself to be so trusting. Individuals are not as trusting as you are and some people just don't deserve to be trusted.
2) I suppose maybe more programs for awareness in substance abuse and more outlets for treatment that are not religious based. It's hard enough for someone to accept they have a problem and actively seek help, only to be beaten down in other ways. I think if there was more outlets non-religious based maybe more people would seek help.
I really enjoy your videos. I didn't really see just how amazing you are until now. Sorry it took me so long to adjust<3.
1. I'd tell myself to not worry about the world when the world doesn't worry about you. I would of given more thought for myself, who I am, who I wanted to be, Who I want to be now, and who I may be in the future.
2. For causes I'm gunna pick.. gay rights..because lately...YEARS AFTER COMING OUT.. people aren't "understanding" anymore? *My family I mean*
1: Don't be a scardy cat..there are good risky things you can do without getting burned.
2: Aids and Sexual awareness. I believe that ppl should understand that from all things in life, sex has a lot of consequences. i'm not saying to go all chast and not enjoy it, but ppl should inform themselves about diseases and have a safe sex life with their partners and be honest about what they've done.Sadder than someone being infected (with AIDS for ex.) is to know it and keep acting like all's ok
1. I would tell my mother not to tell everyone I'm gay. I told her, she accepted me (thankfully), then started making calls to tell my family and her friends. It was all very bizarre to go to my next family function and find out that everyone in my entire family knew.
2. Gay rights overall. If it had to be more specific, I'd go with doing something to stop hate crimes and discrimination against gay people.
Gender, Class, Ethnicity, Political Inklings and Social Behavior - Doesn't matter. If you are a human, and you have a pulse, the law should grant everyone the same rights.
Social Cause: Trans Rights, especially in the mental health field. I think we need more power over how and when to do whatever we wish with our bodies. The DSM-IV and Psychiatrists have way too much power over my body and my life.
I'm partially closeted. I'm open to most of my family (who took it very well, luckily) and certain friends, but closeted with others and the military. Once I'm out of the military, in less than two years, I'm coming out entirely, and to hell with anyone who doesn't like it.
Advice to young self: Do not sign up with the military. -_-
I think I'd go with gay rights in general. This group is hit hardest by the open bigotry in American politics today.
1) I'd tell myself that i shoudln't worry about all the people that have hurt me over the years that they are all idiots for what they've done...
2) For causes i'd have to say a work for a better world for all causes a better world would be my cause... trying to figure out the video rply thing i'd like to start them... Happy NCOD Everyone! <3 from sammey-jo-jo!
1: When your parents find out about your ex-girlfriend, dont say you didn't mean it and you arnt gay. It would make coming out now sooo much easier and less painful.
2: I would fight for child abuse. It is one topic that gets me going and I would love to one day be there for children who have been abused, especialy children who have been abused because they are gay.
1) I'd fricken punch myself in the face as hard as I could, and say, "WTF were you thinking?!". That would be my advice. And, "Direct your life with your heart, not logic." The latter would have changed a lot of things in my life.
2) My big Social Cause to fight for would be world hunger because it's so EASY to fix. We have more than enough food to cure all hunger, yet the process of distributing it is uberly slow. Effeciency in this process would be my second wish ;).

aww, you are so cute! ok, for the questions. if i could give my past self advice, it would be to not be so quick to define myself, to just be and not feel like i had to fit into a category. and if i had to pick one battle for social change, hmm, that's tough. i would probably pick ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, which i think should be accomplished by abolishing the gender binary and heterosexism that have become so ingrained in our society.
