It's just his voice, it just sounds like he has water in the back of his throat constantly...

Like, compare the soundtrack of Toy story with the soundtrack of The Princess and the Frog and you'll now what I mean.

@Spudfish93 No, you go and listen to his early work that's not from movies. 'Short People', 'It's Money That I Love', 'Mama Told Me Not To Come', 'You Can Leave Your Hat On'. This guy is probably the best lyrics writer in America today, talking about racism, religion, greed and inequality. He is praised by many many popular musicians and people in the industry. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

@Spudfish93 I know his voice is bad in the films but Toy Story etc. was after the 1990's. He's been around since the 60's. Also you have to understand that the music has to fit the film, which is normally Disney. Try and compare 'The Natural' soundtrack and 'You've Got A Friend In Me' or 'Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now'. They are completely different. Obviously you've just seen a couple of Disney movies and decided that all his stuff sounds the same. Look into things before making assumptions.

I Love Alan Menken, but I Agree Randy Newman's style fit's the setting much more. Do I think that Menken could haved done wonders with the movie? Yes, But Newman was a fine choice as well.

what i know is that alan menken was hired for Enchanted when this was in the making, so they wanted to pick another composer so that it wouldn't be repetitive. randy newman grew up in new orleans and knew a lot about jazz, so he was a great choice.

Randy Newman plus Dr. John equals incredible! I was born and raised in New Orleans and this song is perfect! The lyrics are very true. Come on down to New Orleans and see for yourself. I can't wait for this movie!:)

i hope they add dance scenes in the film like The Charleston dance the 20s was all about flapper girls/jazz music & charleston there've added in everything esle why not the dance which was developed by African-Americans white people took it i love the 20's era and disney princess films both together in one AMAZING would be nice for people to find more 'bout that era, how most of 20s was made buy afican amercian Alans too contemporary randy will add great jazz music and still in disneys style

I think there are a few dance numbers int he film. There's a couple moments in the trailer where you see people dancing to Jazz in the street

But yeah, I agree with you on Alan Menken. His stuff is really good, but his stuff is a bit recognizable by this point. And Newman is the perfect choice for this film.

i agree, i'm very disappointed that john lasseter got randy newman instead of alan menken, it's just that randy newmans songs all sound the same to me, and this one's no different, i just think alan menken's style would be more suited for this picture. o well, can't knock something unless u try it, and i guess it's not all bad, the lyrics to this song do sound pretty good

I'm not bashing you or anything, but I'm surprised that you think Randy's songs "all sound the same." Are you sure you think "You've Got a Friend in Me", "Strange Things", and "I Will Go Sailing No More" sound too similar? Or do you think it's just because HE sings them?

I'll admit that he has his own style and everything, but he's got a good variety of music in my opinion.

i think the characters will sing as anika is a broadway tony win star look at all the other girls that voice the other princess they did stage work some princess had one voice actor and proper singer but its easy just get stay musical stars as they are trained singers/actors Kristin Chenoweth another tony winner will be Rapunzel (a film thats been in producion sense 2004)
