  • No tuning isn't new! What's new is bolt on accessories. Back in the day it was building engines and porting by drills and hand bigger jets headers cams and 4speeds 4.11 gears. Now days it's all about big wheels ugly paint and big 5gallon mufflers. The 80's were great cause it was a come back to performance. We really have 5.0 to thank for that!! You might say Chevy but aftermarket came from ford mustangs. Technology is better now. But I'm a BB guy

  • I had a sante fe blue omni glh non turbo was a nice car stoplight racer no lag all motor fun little cars

  • should have raced for pinks! oops i mean bill of sales! heheh bc the Omni is over 20 now! the viper dude would have gone home in his GF's car!

  • For Cisco kid1970,,are you INSANE???? Tuning just got started???when? I was alot older than you then and the old1983 Colt 1.4L Turbos were being tuned by my buddies. remember them???they predate all the SHELBY2.2's and we did this in 1985!So what drugs you been smoking homey??? they were tunin as far back as 1980! and the older guys than me will tellyou they were tuning the old 1980Turbo T/A's too...but i bet you werent even born then! HAHAHA

  • I had an 86 glh turbo, we put a dohc in it and my gosh...."I miss that little car."... No I just bit my lip..no tears here,,,sob sob.."

  • I HAD AN 86 GLH AND LIKE A BONE HEAD I ACTUALLY GAVE IT AWAY!

  • damn i miss my 85 glh.

It was my college car, in early 90s tuning had just started...so not much was known.

I loved that it looked like a simple little car but could SMOOKE most muscle cars. That car won me sooo many bets and soo much braging rights.

    .

I almost bought the 2005 SRT4 which was supposed to be similar.

    .

Sad day when I traded it in...12 years old 110k miles...it had lots of problems past 80k miles

  • Those little Omni's and Horizon's have surprised more than a few people speed wise and still got better mpg than today's average car.

  • LOL! I have a GLH TII Im getting together and OMG! Thay little quick 4cylinders. A VIper\??? WOOOOW!!!

  • Thats sick... but does anyone know what year the viper was?

  • scootin' past that viper

  • Someone couldnt drive that Viper my Friend... A stock Viper runs about a second and a half faster then that!!! Bad ass Omni though, I miss mine.

  • @uwysh2 lmao, that would make a standard srt-10 almost as quick as a ACR xD. no they run about a low 13 or high 12.

  • @875109725710 Um no even my stepfathers old 1994 RT/10 ran a 12.80 when it was bone stock, his 1997 ran a 12.22 bone stock and the new SRT-10 has the same exact power as an ACR my friend... The ACR didnt need to do any engine mods only weight, suspension and braking... L@@K IT UP!!! King of Nurbergring ACR Viper

  • @uwysh2 lol, to-shay xD. And apparently the ACR doesn't hold that record anymore o.O

  • @875109725710 Yeah unfortunately no it doesnt, it only took them a million times to beat a clunky old Dodge though... Therefore since Dodge did it on their first try I still call the ACR the king, but thats just my opinion. And opinions are like assholes everyone has one!

  • @uwysh2 AND MOST OF THEM STINK! lol, idk why you called it a clunky old dodge though, that is one clean sexy car. Also back in the day when America made there own shit, anything that was reliable was always called "dodge reliable" no matter WHAT it was. idk, America has gone to shit and no one knows whats good anymore... Haha i just had to bitch about it xD

  • @875109725710 I love the Viper and ive always been a Dodge guy but most Dodges are pretty clunky and rattle alot on the inside... They have the design part down pat but quality control seems to slip on by, I wish I could afford a new SRT-8 Jeep though... Those things are solid but child support trumps nice car!

  • @uwysh2 Dodge's goal is to make reliable, well designed cars that are affordable to the general public. Which is one of the reasons they are not all the fancy and luxurious. Now Dodge is stepping it up and making vehicles with much higher quality materials which will unfortunately make it harder for the poor man to afford.

  • thats a load of fucking bullshit

  • @spoolinomni ive seen twin turbo v8 swaps in omnis, but the srt4 swap is more common, so yes it could have a dohc motor with a 6 speed, awd is a little uncommon tho and would take ALOT of work.

  • @nxmoparmatt84 srt 4 isnt a 6 speed. thanks for playing.

  • @spoolinomni

Chrysler made a dohc motor based on the 2.2 2.5 turbo it was used in the Spirit r/t and Daytona r/t and i think the Chrysler t/c Maserati. these 2.2 turbo motors were 220 225 hp stock, since these are k car based its very feasible it could be a swap,

now AWD well ......unless he modified a AWD minivan which used 2.2 2.5 motors and heavily modified it it could be feasible, if you can weld you can do almost anything.

  • @corvettebuddy - You are absolutely correct. You know your Dodge history. Except that the TC used a Mazerati head. The other DOHC 2.5's used a Chrysler built head. The most noticeable model with this engine was the Daytona IROC. AWD was designed but never produced. However I have seen minivan AWD systems swapped in. Not hard to do at all as most of the major components were all shared. As far as the car in the vid, who knows. He could be running a Super 60 2.2 Turbo which I've seen put out 300HP

  • Bull SHIT!

  • Apparently a trans swap too!

Do you have a website to show your hard work? I'd like to see what you have done there.

  • at least the viper guy knew not to peg it right away at race city. geez a viper running 13s race citys prep is really awful. but big respect for that omni. thats an awesome sleeper.

  • Your description of this video and the omni are a joke.

  • nice to see what a little elbow grease can do for a car that looks like a POS but outruns a 70K$ viper.

  • nice
