It is not just the issue of pills themselves but the equally bad issue of how their use and associated beliefs that they are a harmless drug that expose people to adopting a similar belief about other (traditionally addictive) drugs like cocaine, speed which ARE very addictive. This is why meth has taken off..
from personal experience, I have been closer to "ODing" and killing myself on Alcohol alone than pills or any other illegal substance, When im under the influence of Amphetamines or pills or whatever i actually know what im doing and have found myself in far less trouble.
Yeah well you must have drunk ALOT of alcohol...I mean hell science has shown you can OD on water if you really want to have that conversation but amphetamines and associated drugs are much more potent and stay in the system (ie have longer half life) than alcohol. And just because alcohol abuse exists in society does not mean that a blinf eye should be turned to the ever growing problem of amphetamine abuse.
But suggesting that they stamp out this event due to "amphetamine abuse" is completely ridiculous, there are still plenty of people who enjoy this event without being under the influence of illegal drugs
When are the government going to move in & stamp out this event. It is always held on extremely hot days where people are whoffing down pills in the heat with no aircon..totally askign for OD'S..there is less ability to recognise & attend to individual cases when u have large crowds. There are always significant arrests for possession & dealing which these events both attract & foster. The arrests are only ever the tip of the ice berg since most slip undetected thru security or take b4 going in.

Ok, if there's big potential for ODs (i.e. everyone's in speeding cars), then where are the casualties? The actual damage caused by the drugs you mention doesn't add up to the dangerous picture you are painting. Show us the deaths and then you might have some weight to your argument, in the meantime you're just slagging off people having a good time at an event you don't like.
@bruceyeah where are the casulties,,well Bruce go look around in Australian society, go to the emergency dept of St Vincents hospital on any weekend,, chat to police who frequently have to deal with violent and psychotic people who are on "party drugs" etc...drug use and associated mental illness caused by this is now amongst the highest in the world. And much is due to the every groing club culture and it's populisation of amphetamine use. Society is yet to fully realise the damage it is doing.

Alcohol is way more of a concern then pills in all aspects of health and social problems, so how bout you get off your knees and stop sucking the government dick and wake up to the real facts

Alcoholism has always existed in our society but only a small fraction of those who drink are aloholics...the number of people who take drugs regularly as a proportion of those who have taken or "tried" drugs is actually quite high in Australia.
