This is such a beautiful song. With Emmylou's voice and this sweet melody and musical arrangement and moving lyrics, it makes this song one of the greats.
Gram Parsons OD's near his fav place, Joshua Tree N.M., CA. soon after a wish made to be cremated & ashes spread there, & was nearly thwarted by stepdad. Mgr Phil Kaufman & pal bodysnatches the coffin at LAX, drives hearse filled w/ liquor to JTNM, dumps Hi-Test gas into the coffin & tosses a match. Fireball is seen 5 mi's away in night sky (but NOT by Emmylou, who was over in Conn.- 09/ '73) 35 charred lbs of GP were left; stepdad takes them back for burial. They made great tunes, E & G<3
@lowspark68 Indeed it is. Gram was cremated, at his request, Plains Indian style....on a funeral pyre made of tree limbs & leaves...raised 6 feet high over the Colorado desert...so that his ashes & his Soul might reach the Heavens faster. That's the part about " I watched you burn". She did....literally; "watch him burn". What a Beautiful SONG; and what a Beautiful WOMAN!

I believe this to be Harris' most beautiful song--amongst all her beautiful songs. Love it.

Sorry, something got pasted there by an error. Richard Bona is one of my favourite artists, but he had nothing to do with this song:-)
