  • At 0:42, are they killing people??? what's going on???

  • @uterang It was an enactment of what the tribesmen used to do. Those days, Samoans lived by the law of the war club, sought every excuse to make war. Those days warriors were camping in rainforests & foraging for food, living on whatever they could find while war raged on. Samoans also carried out amphibious attacks, which were at times a tactic used to trap the enemy between land and sea, while the head of the fallen was carried off as a trophy. A well known ancestor of mine used to do this.

  • I am Hawaiian and surely through my ancestors many generations back I am of Samoan heritage. I am grateful to have learned about Tu'i Manu'a, Malie Toa and other great Warriors of Samoa. I dont assume to know fully what Fa'a Samoa is, but I believe it is why the People and culture of your islands are alive and flourishing and representing Big Time on the world scene. Soon the Kanaka Maoli of Hawaii will cease to exist, Never let Samoa suffer the same fate. Keep Fa'a Samoa strong. Fa'a Fetai.

  • wish i was born back in those very old days when the samoan culture was strong

  • Thank you for sharing this ... My dad's family comes from Manu'a! I recognize that Tui Manu'a Picture. It's in the family album. I don't really know too much about Manu'a ... but I hear that life is really beautiful! One Love

  • honestly, i feel this music is way better than this new samoan reggae comin out...not to say that they aint got catchy beats...but u cant beat the true original music like this...this right here is pride. remember our roots!!! onelove

  • @samoanballer50 dang str8 man... I luv this chant... IMO this is pure (ancient) polynesian.

  • @samoanballer50 ...Yeah, I agree. I just posted on another Samoan video saying that exact same thing. We really need to get back to our music roots 'cause this reggae/hip hop/rap ain't our music. Samoan/polynesian pride!!!

  • This is similar to the ancient tongan songs, which till this day no one understands the old language but still sang the same way

  • cause its samoan..haha

  • Original warriors & chants. So original.

  • thank you for sharing this with the world.

We should never forget our past.

  • Hey Uso, LUV this vid... the old song sends shivers down my spine, and is more purely a Samoan chant unspoilt before the Christians settled in the islands.

May I ask where u got the images from? Looking for some over the net.

  • This is an old-time chant we young'uns used to call "pese a koeaiga". A few old men would sit around the breadfruit tree chanting away. I can remember my eighty-something old grandfather back in the mid-1970's sitting with his rellies doing this. Magnificent!

  • seki a

  • R.I.P. Umaga. I beleive Umaga stands for morning in somoan am I correct?

  • this is beautiful, i am maori but always had respect for our polynesian culture as a whole, ive heard some very old songs from my own culture, and they dont sound anything like what you hear them perform on stage these days. abit similar to this, the photos are good 2, much respect to the old people, alot of 2days people just aint cuttin it.

  • it's good to know that we or you guy's still remb our island and who you are or we are..malo lave le faamalosi

  • This kinda scares me listening to it. Was this before christianity? It doesn't sound like a typical song one would hear today.

  • Of course u should scared; in the old days we only made war; we glorified it. Read our history.

  • @Tonganroyalty

dude thats awsome.. if u dont mind.. u mind sharing some of the stories yourve heard.. my family is from manu'a and ive heard tons of our family stories..

    much alofaz to you

  • @ajulutu well my grandparents state that Tui Manu'a Anciently ruled the ocean and that the Manu'a Islands of Samoa were considered sacred to not only Samoans but Tongans as well. I just asked them now what do they mean when they say he ruled the Ocean and they said when they were young they heard Legends about Tui Manu'a in Tonga one of the legends deals with Maui who went to Tui Manu'a in Samoa to receive power from Tui Manu'a or something to create the Tonga Islands its hard translating lol

  • @ajulutu they also say that Tui Manu'a Anciently ruled Tonga and other islands across the ocean I kind of figure thats why they said he was the ruler of the ocean lol but yeah uso Samoans & Tongans are the same people separated by War.

  • 0.15 very similar to ancient Mayan, Aztec & Egyptian drawings. I am most certain there is a ancient connection some where down the line.

  • Of course theres a connection; Samoa is in the Pacific Ocean, just to the West of America.

Shot Uso, this is an awesome vid.

  • a friend of mine told me, a friend of his with a Samoan pe'a (from waist down) went to Mexico and visited a ritual temple (with the long as stair case). A Mexican tourist guide asked him about his Tattoo, interested he asked the Samoan to follow him into a temple tomb. There on the walls were same Samoan tattoo designs - fish shape and other shapes.

I am happy to say ancient Mayans did have a significant connection to Samoa. Columbians also connect with Samoa, knowledge is not free. money plz

  • interesting that you mention that. There is an actual theory of migration from South America.

  • MAIAVA AIGA and LAULU AIGA CHEEEEEEEEE HOOOOOOOOOO!
