If it could be stopped by biological means, that would be the most straight forward option. The alternative would be the eventual transfer of brain functionality into electronically devices, theoretically still occupying a human body.

I don't think death is such a big problem, though it's quite regrettable that all the character growth, life lessons and academic studies of a prolific individual are eventually lost.

Although im only 17 years of age I am enthusiastic about ending aging, I am an art student, I love painting, exploring, I look forward to the grand future and would like to live long enough explore outerspace, extra solar planets, space colonies, vertical farming. I want to live ON!

@PsychoJosh They may be wrong, but like I said they will never know it. The rest of us have only the belief in superior insight, which provides little comfort when embracing the great unknown. I personally believe everything in the universe (my own personal God) gets recycled. And if there is truly no end to time, then the universe will one day recombine the chemical formula to recreate a carbon copy. Within a billion years this is highly unlikely. But within eternity it is closer to 100%

@BrettDunbar if you are american you probably have a different version of what socialism (maybe even communism) than what i was brought up with in the welsh hills. socialism according to the my area was caring for the weak and looking after each other like as Jesus is said to have done...i am not religious per se but I used what Jesus said to show you that socialism is not just about oppressive government forces and doctrines...My version was consideration for others..no man is an island ;)

@BrettDunbar I come from a small island. Malta (Independent state off the coast of Sicily) The only progress our country had really made where ALL citizens benfitted from was during the Socialist years. (Mid 60's till mid 80's)

We have so called 'Nationalists' running the show now and our country is now burdened in debt. Joining the EU was the only chance left to at least try and live a decent life. Which hasnt worked yet btw.

In 1900, in this country, the average life expectancy was about 48 years. Now, it's closer to 80, and we have more centenarians than at any other time in recorded history.

I don't know about "immortality", but we can certainly expect to live longer.

I think voluntary euthanasia will become popular with the advent of living longer. I truly believe that it's completely possible for humans to create technology that will allow them to stop aging, but I'm sure it will take a lot longer to change human mentality. And as such there will still be problems of mental illness among I believe other issues that will come to light once the technology has been created.
