Yes, but she is playing a part. She is playing a part, so she smoked to fit the character description. And personally I think she sounded great.

i mean, she doesn't sound terrible... but her voice definitely isn't what it used to be... if you want to hear her at her best; look up her performance in new orleans around 1980... primarily "shine on harvest moon", and "but the world goes 'round"... anymore i think she sounds like an imitation of her former self...

@TheDaguerreotypist I agree that she does sound much worse, but listen to anyone who has gone through her throat operation and most likely, none of them will sound very good. Plus, her singing was never her main quality, shes a great actor and dancer.

@JansterBanana i always thought she was the type to sing, act, and dance well... but the thing that made me really respect her as an artist was the way she could sell a song... it was nothing short of amazing... but the fact that she's focused her career efforts on singing -after- her voice has gone away is rather concerning to me... because she really doesn't do much else at this point... and it seems to... somewhat lessen the impact of her previous work...

What a fantastic job she does! I believe this song was written for her.  There is another songe by the same title, an older song, with a similar thing. Both are great songs, and Liza just kills with this one. Great job!
