Stargate sg1 was the the better one when richard dean anderson was in it
but then ben browder took his place and the show lost its spark probably because ben browder was always more farscape then stargate and it was hard to see him play cameron mitchel when most peopel wanted to see him as john crichton so Stargate atlantis became the better show to watch and as it went on the there stories got better while SG1s didnt. SGU SHIT

I'm just gonna put this out there, there is no thrid season of SGU If you go to a store and look for a copy of season two, it's say "The Last Season of Stargate Universe" on it. I think that pretty much sums it up.

In SGA and SG-1 the story was actually pretty good and interesting, even though there were plenty of "filler" episodes. Still they were mostly actually interesting to watch. But in SGU well you could watch the whole first season and nothing happened at all.

I really don't understand why people hate SGU, sure there is not much alien interaction and much fighting but between Rush and Young, you really don't need aliens as these two prove to be very antagonistic towards each other and Rush got farther in deposing Young in an episode, much farther then aliens did in SG1 and SGA which got kinda boring since they sucked at combat. I do love this video. I personally believe that Vegas was possibly the best episode in both Sg1 and SGA and possibly SGU.
@Kharandis No doubt Vegas was one of the best episodes , the best from SGA for me , but let's face it.. the ending scene with sheppard dying on Jhonny's Cash music.. that was the epic moment that made the episode so good..

SGU is what happens when SciFi decided to abandon it's base and try to draw in drama queens and emos. SGA was one of the best science fiction series of the last 20 years. Great characters and a sense of fun that is missing on soap operas like SGU. At least Rush and Eli are kind of cool. I would much rather see Rodney, John, and Ronan back saving the universe with a smirk and a laugh.
SGU is great. As the creators said in an interview, it was an "experiment" to produce a more mature, realistic show. SGU has done a great job accomplishing the goal.
i agree with opacid, sg1 and atlantis are 2 of th best sci fi shows ever but SGU is shit. it seems like an attempt to milk the stargate franchise for some more money
@91JamesT I actually diagree. I think SGU is a great move. While loved SG1 and SGA, there were fundamentally very similar. If SGU had remained in that same style, the stargate franchise might have fallen into the same pit as Star Trek did before JJ Abrams came along. Star Trek got to be so formulaic and derivative of itself, that it just lost what made it special. So I think by moving SGU into new narrative territory, they can keep the SG franchise fresh and movie forward.

But SGU has thusfar failed to live up to my expectations. And the producers clearly don't hold out much faith for its longevity, as they only signed for 3 seasons. Honestly, it seems that the SyFy brass bullied them into making SGU "edgy", but instead we have BSG meets SG. Why Anderson, Tapping, and Shanks are part of it, I can't imagine.

I can handle 2 of the 3 in small doses, but sex scenes are just made to fill gaps. They're pointless, if I want to see that I'll rent a porn. Minor dribble, like we need to know in extensive detail who a character is by flashbacks. It could be done throughout the storyline. Focus on individual feelings, can be expressed without a sideline of feelings.
@opacid I actually agree with you about sex scenes. They aren't necessary except to focus on a certain relationship, but this can be done quickly or by being implied. However, ever seen Lost. That show had extensive use of flashbacks to show character's motives and intentions. SGU isnt as good at it, but it is still a viable story option, especially when used to juxtapose with the present. However, I agree that SGU sacrificed plot for feelings. However, it got better toward the end of the season

At first the only thing that kept me watching is b/c I liked Stargate & Atlantis & figured; its from the same people...it just has to get better...right? It finally did but the sex I can definitely do without. I think a slight adjustment in the balance between the crew's feelings & somewhat of an actual plot other than devoting entire episodes to just getting water & basic survival needs was long & boring. BTW, Greer is awesome!
@opacid Where sex scenes are concerned, SGU isn't nearly as bad as some other shows/movies. Most times they just show the foreplay, or aftermath. As for conflicts, I've heard that the show is going to move from internal strife to external threats in this second season.
@lostrekkie SG-1 was getting kinda boring in the middle of seasons for me, the real fun started just with Ori? or how its spelled, anyway SGA was just the best for me, now i am watching SGU and i think its different, maybe not as good as SGA/SG-1 but for me its good piece of sci-fi to look at.

@bevvox On the more pleasant note, this is great music! video, revealing a newer edge to the good old* series. Personally, i think the whole Alt.Universe conceptualizations** add to the general tones*** of this series, already quite something in itself, and now, it only gets better; with a previously developed, not to mention substantial, cult(dare i say? i dare!) following of the franchise only augmenting the experience....
the only bad thing about this programme is that whenever the is a problem its always been done in sg1 before and they always mention it like back on earth this happened a few years ago
I actually really like SGU. I like how its taking the SG series in a new direction instead of redoing what SG1 and SGA already did. However, I can agree that it needs more action. But, watch the episodes Time and the mid-season finale (I forgot the name). Both of those episode are really good.
@lostrekkie SGU so far is a lot like BSG with less action. I actually lost a lot of interest, maybe next season it'll be more interesting since it looks like they did a lot of the character development and have the plot set on course now.
@lostrekkie SGU has some things that were not thought through or that were underdeveloped which is sad because i can't see my life without Stargate if the show will not continue. and also it lacks some action and humor. I also wish Destiny would face more than one new race over the whole season. I hope they will improve though seasons like SG1 did because i like the new approach and the new themes in SGU.

@lostrekkie With those episodes, I agree. But it's not so much a lack of action that bothers me (and many others). It's the fact that Scott, Wray, Chloe, and others utterly piss me off with very few (if any) redeeming qualities McKay also pissed me off, but he came through in a clinch, and so I respected him. As far as I can see, Rush, Young, Greer, and a scant few others manage to keep that balance. The others are mostly just annoying chaff, and should die off along with Spencer.
SGA was well better than SGU is, & SGU is pretty good. I really want them to bring it back, atleast they are making an Atlantis film (apparently) Stargate: Extinction
Its ok quality. Unfortunately Stargate Atlantis IS over. It had to do with actor salaries more than the ratings.
Actor salaries go up the longer they're on a show so unless the show does great, characters are bumped off for cheaper ones, until eventually, the show is cancelled..
Theres a spinoff. Stargate is a franchise, so they hit the "salary reset button" with the new show.
Please People, I really need Stargate, I did n ot want SGA to finish, there are still Wraith out there! So now we have SGU and I don't care the casting is bad, I need to know why the Atlanteans Sent that Starship a more than a billion lightyears away, you know the producers will can SGU if public opinion drops so hype it up!!
1. Stargate Atlantis: Extinction ( a movie about SGA), will be made
2. SGU is intended to be different, that includes the characters
3. The show explains why they sent the ship out
4. It's only been 2 episodes. Give it a a chance, let them establish an antagonist at least before you make too much of a judgment call. It IS still Stargate, after all.

This is my fav. episode. A lot of it (the desert scenes) where filmed in my home town, which is small, so I was able to go on set. I sat down and talked to Robert Cooper, Joe Flanigan, and others. It was the greatest experience I have ever had. Watching them film was amazing.

They never explain what's going on, it's fucking stupid that they can't control the ship for the whole first season, and looks like Space Beautiful.
If i wanted to see a soap opera, i'd watch a soap opera.
If i'm watching stargate that means i don't give a fuck about the characters' love stories and i want to see action.
Plus, the characters are just horrible. The only acceptable one is Rush, and he's the bad copy of BSG's Baltar.

@opacid Where sex scenes are concerned, SGU isn't nearly as bad as some other shows/movies. Most times they just show the foreplay, or aftermath. As for conflicts, I've heard that the show is going to move from internal strife to external threats in this second season.

@lostrekkie SG-1 was getting kinda boring in the middle of seasons for me, the real fun started just with Ori? or how its spelled, anyway SGA was just the best for me, now i am watching SGU and i think its different, maybe not as good as SGA/SG-1 but for me its good piece of sci-fi to look at.

@lostrekkie i agree man, the sg1 and sga got to formulaic. more so with sga. sg1 towards the end got bad i thought, but thats just me. i like sgu. its entertaining. once again just my opinion.

@91JamesT I think SGU tryes to show more of the human part of the people playing the roles in a Sci-fi movie, like battlestar galactica did, and it had a better succes then any sg serries

@91JamesT I kind of agree, with the principle point that is, not necessarily about the totality in SGU's failure... although, as a future classic? etc. - yeah, here you're right on the nose. Unfortunately that's going to be a no...
To me it seems like they tried to cross (MOST unsuccessfully, mind you) SG franchise with BSG style in execution(seriously did anyone else notice that???).

@bevvox On the more pleasant note, this is great music! video, revealing a newer edge to the good old* series. Personally, i think the whole Alt.Universe conceptualizations** add to the general tones*** of this series, already quite something in itself, and now, it only gets better; with a previously developed, not to mention substantial, cult(dare i say? i dare!) following of the franchise only augmenting the experience....
It's really is so, so sad that they canceled....

I actually really like SGU. I like how its taking the SG series in a new direction instead of redoing what SG1 and SGA already did. However, I can agree that it needs more action. But, watch the episodes Time and the mid-season finale (I forgot the name). Both of those episode are really good.

@lostrekkie SGU so far is a lot like BSG with less action. I actually lost a lot of interest, maybe next season it'll be more interesting since it looks like they did a lot of the character development and have the plot set on course now.

@lostrekkie SGU has some things that were not thought through or that were underdeveloped which is sad because i can't see my life without Stargate if the show will not continue. and also it lacks some action and humor. I also wish Destiny would face more than one new race over the whole season. I hope they will improve though seasons like SG1 did because i like the new approach and the new themes in SGU.

@lostrekkie With those episodes, I agree. But it's not so much a lack of action that bothers me (and many others). It's the fact that Scott, Wray, Chloe, and others utterly piss me off with very few (if any) redeeming qualities McKay also pissed me off, but he came through in a clinch, and so I respected him. As far as I can see, Rush, Young, Greer, and a scant few others manage to keep that balance. The others are mostly just annoying chaff, and should die off along with Spencer.

Its ok quality. Unfortunately Stargate Atlantis IS over. It had to do with actor salaries more than the ratings.
Actor salaries go up the longer they're on a show so unless the show does great, characters are bumped off for cheaper ones, until eventually, the show is cancelled..
Theres a spinoff. Stargate is a franchise, so they hit the "salary reset button" with the new show.
It's sad in a way.

1. Stargate Atlantis: Extinction ( a movie about SGA), will be made
2. SGU is intended to be different, that includes the characters
3. The show explains why they sent the ship out
4. It's only been 2 episodes. Give it a a chance, let them establish an antagonist at least before you make too much of a judgment call. It IS still Stargate, after all.

The only redeeming qualification they gave this character was to alude that he went to MIT. Please Hollywood SGU Writers, , give this guy better scripts, you are crucifying him.

now what i am about to say is rumour i have heard so don't hold me to it haha i have heard that SGA could get a 6th season depending on a few things firstly how the first SGA movie does secondly how the new stargate does and thirdly if they can get Joe Flannigan back since he is on a new show (deep blue i think) and if there is no 6th season there will be 3 movies remember just rumour i have heard not facts hahaha

This is my fav. episode. A lot of it (the desert scenes) where filmed in my home town, which is small, so I was able to go on set. I sat down and talked to Robert Cooper, Joe Flanigan, and others. It was the greatest experience I have ever had. Watching them film was amazing.
