@durianriders I eat low carb now and rarely get hungry. I used to be hungry all the time when I was on mostly carbs. Some fruits actually made me hungry more than anything, particularly apples and bananas. I would also wake up hungry. So I'm not sure you're right about this. I never ate chocolate except at Christmas. I also cycle to work 8km there and 8km back every day.
Now I wake up at 8, eat 2 boiled eggs about 1pm. Then I eat a big salad with some protein and fat at about 6pm

I've done a fair amount of research on the subject and found that grains(pasta,rice), legumes, meat, dairy, and nightshades(potatoes) contain a lot of lectins(for a quick rundown on lectins visit krispin.com/lectin.html). not all varieties of lectins are particularly harmful to everyone, but "loading up" could have some hazardous effects. Fruit is the ONLY option!

@TheBeastLordViking Protein is not an issue, because you do not need as much as you would think. =) About 2.5% of total calories is protein, so if you eat enough calories from any source you will be covered, even strawberries has 3% protein. So if you eat 3000 calories as a minimum for males you would get more than enough. Plant protein is also superior to animal protein in that they are easier to assimilate and do not cause the same strain on the system.

I went on a low fat raw vegan lifestyle and have lost 20 pounds since August 2011. I hardly did any exercise. All I did was walk my dog and walk to work.
@shakalakabaka It still might not be enough for you. Feel free to eat as much fruit as you want. Just keep fat under 10% of total cals. No oil, no animal.
@durianriders cool,but i've gotta be honest, I'll greatly minimize my animal diet, say down to 20% from now on and as I progress i'll be 100% vegan, I honestly can't turn vegan overnight although I know it's great.
@shakalakabaka have you tried the faux meats 1st? The gardein stuff is great - though it does have gluten.
Personally, for me I went junk-food vegan full stop for a few years to prove to my subconscious mind that I could survive anywhere in the country with a vending machine only if need be. Not healthy in the short term, but since it led me here seemingly effortlessly - it seems credible to me.

Have you considered getting a rebounder (mini tramp)? They are like jumping on a mattress when you're a kid - very fun - easy as pie to do whilst watch TV etc.. I'm with DR with exercise in that you shouldn't force yourself to do it - only do what you're driven to do.

But that model uses bungies like the Bellicon (though reviews say it still doesn't match the Belli's smoothness. But they are probably the next best thing except they are only 39" whereas the Belli has very wide sizes (for 3x price though!).
@CreateYourWorld1111 BTW, I cannot recommend the coretrainer2 yet - which is more an upper body - arms/back/shoulder exercise machine.
Their first model used an electric starter which petered out on people after weeks. But now version 2 has a pull cord so I'm hoping it will last a few years.
Anyways, for grins look up Dynaflex core trainer 2. It's a gyro that weighs 3lbs, but has up to 200lbs of isometric torque. It really does kick ass (er - arms, pecks, etc.) fast. Kinda new paradigm though.

Hey Durian, love your vids just wondering your thoughts on protein sources. I for one love meat and have been training calisthenics for 1 yr, I love running also. I generally try to eat balanced meals. Maybe vegan is right for you but I need lots of protein for muscle development.

@TheBeastLordViking Protein is not an issue, because you do not need as much as you would think. =) About 2.5% of total calories is protein, so if you eat enough calories from any source you will be covered, even strawberries has 3% protein. So if you eat 3000 calories as a minimum for males you would get more than enough. Plant protein is also superior to animal protein in that they are easier to assimilate and do not cause the same strain on the system.

long running causes lots of oxidative stress to your body and brain which lowers hgh and testosterone
we never ran for slow pace for long distances but we walked and sprinted for fight or flight
loot at 100m sprinter and marathon runner marathon runner has that catabolic look to them their skin is loose and their eyes are popping out low muscle tone and mass, low bone density etc

I went on a low fat raw vegan lifestyle and have lost 20 pounds since August 2011. I hardly did any exercise. All I did was walk my dog and walk to work.

@durianriders cool,but i've gotta be honest, I'll greatly minimize my animal diet, say down to 20% from now on and as I progress i'll be 100% vegan, I honestly can't turn vegan overnight although I know it's great.
PS: Gluten officially eliminated from diet

@shakalakabaka have you tried the faux meats 1st? The gardein stuff is great - though it does have gluten.
Personally, for me I went junk-food vegan full stop for a few years to prove to my subconscious mind that I could survive anywhere in the country with a vending machine only if need be. Not healthy in the short term, but since it led me here seemingly effortlessly - it seems credible to me.
Though everyone's different on how they get there that's for sure!

Its easier to keep fit in cold climates vs hot climates judging by how many elite athletes come from cold climate countries vs hot climates.

Have you considered getting a rebounder (mini tramp)? They are like jumping on a mattress when you're a kid - very fun - easy as pie to do whilst watch TV etc.. I'm with DR with exercise in that you shouldn't force yourself to do it - only do what you're driven to do.
I also have a powerball gyro and coretrainer2 both of which are fun and hard to *NOT* do!

@CreateYourWorld1111 - Hi! I've used cheapees, but I just ordered the "Jumpsport 350i" at Costco - eeks looks like it just went off sale - $50 more than I paid for it. But that model uses bungies like the Bellicon (though reviews say it still doesn't match the Belli's smoothness. But they are probably the next best thing except they are only 39" whereas the Belli has very wide sizes (for 3x price though!).

@CreateYourWorld1111 BTW, I cannot recommend the coretrainer2 yet - which is more an upper body - arms/back/shoulder exercise machine.
Their first model used an electric starter which petered out on people after weeks. But now version 2 has a pull cord so I'm hoping it will last a few years.
Anyways, for grins look up Dynaflex core trainer 2. It's a gyro that weighs 3lbs, but has up to 200lbs of isometric torque. It really does kick ass (er - arms, pecks, etc.) fast. Kinda new paradigm though.

@CreateYourWorld1111 I live half the time in a hot country and half the time in the UK, It is much easier to get active in the cold then the hot. The heat saps your energy, the cold makes you want to jump up and down to get warm!
