It's too much to hope that the military starts a mutiny. Any military personnel will tell you a war with Iran is suicidal. It's bad enough to be at war with Iran but to also have 2 countries bordering Iran at war at the same time is insane. It's only compounded by oil spill at home. The BP oil rig was supposed to supply the oil (crucial strategic resource) during the war. The mass evacuations from the spill will cause civil unrest/anger and the closed fishing ground means FAMINE!

The borders with Mexico are unsecured. Drugs and criminals are openly coming across and shooting at local citizens. There's more than enough trouble at home.

The military should rebel against the gov't like McChrystal did against Obama because an Iranian war will mean a destruction of the gov't anyways. It's also obvious that the only way you're coming home from any of the wars is in a body bag or being fired. This benefits 1 party only : Israel, no one has wanted war more.

There is a simpler explanation. Maybe the same people who were behind starting these wars under Bush are still behind the decisions being made about these wars under Obama. I truly doubt presidents are entirely free to do whatever they want once elected. There are tons of entrenched powers that the corporate media rarely if ever reports on. These wars may seem to be failures according to the publicly stated purposes, but it can't be denied that certain people & corporations have profited greatly

The US President truely is not free to do as he pleases. He is just like the Wizard of Oz... all the real power is behind the curtain. Republican or Democrat, it does not matter. "Elected" officials make up a very small portion of our Govt. Certain key players remain in positions of power & great influence in each and every Administration, crossing party lines, & never answer to the voter. Our Democracy is an illusion.

@hiphopmecca I do believe the president still has some power, but it's become extremely constrained. It's possible he really has no power at all and the position is merely of figurehead. Some have argued that a president would be assasinated or his power undermined if he ever stepped out of his pre-defined role and acted according to his own conscience. I'd like to believe otherwise because if we exist in a society where the powerful elite have this much power then it's all pointless.
