  • great post... thanks! Robert Palmer's version is a great take on this as well

  • Actually two Jews wrote this song, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stroller. They wrote many R&B hits in the late 1940s and 1950s. Rock n' Roll is just R&B played faster. Let's be realistic please. I like Rock n Roll and traditional R&B. Today's R&B is bullshit.

  • @Gork8686 Amen, brother.

  • @tippimail, big mama wrote this song and performed it first! the version is much much better!

  • I first heard this song in 1956 by Elvis. This version is great also.

  • Brilliant

  • people forget that Elvis got this from her!! long live Big Mama!!

  • @txdragon2008 I believe that Elvis got it from Freddie Bell.

  • @txdragon2008 Actually, Elvis got it from Freddie Bell.

  • Is this, the first version of this song?

  • I love the guitar in the background of this version. Simple and sexy at the same time. This slow version is much better than the fast version that Elvis did and it doesn't have the stupid background vocals that was intended to tone it down for the white teenagers of the fifties.

  • @NEWGUY562 Hm interesting that you find this to be "horrible", as every genre of music around today is based on the 12 bar blues progression so....

  • @MyOwnGuitarHero ok compared 2 elvis's version of it.

  • @NEWGUY562 how can you compare elvis' trash with this? what a faggot...

  • @NEWGUY562 Your brain is horrible! Sorry you have to live with it!!!

  • Maybe because Josephine Baker is just way hotter than Big Mama Thornton. C&C Music Factory did the same thing when they made videos, got sexy models to lip sync...

  • Elvis who?

  • @JrFLYnnIV idiot

  • Great recording, but why a pic of Josephine Baker? TOTALLY different person.

  • @3salamanders At the time of this posting I was only using a few stock pictures I had...It is Josephine Baker....Standard picture at that time used for my blues and jazz.

  • @3salamanders Maybe Big Mama broke the camera.

  • Excellent sound upload but the visual of Josephine Baker is misleading, no?
