You're accidentally double clicking. The best way to avoid problems when this happens (and it will) is to make small selections, and then add to that selection a part at a time. Hold down shift and then click to keep adding to the selection after it's closed.
The other good trick to keep in mind is to start the selection from the center of the object, rather then starting on the edge of the object. I believe I talk about that in one of the videos.

could you help me please?
i have a problem...
when i am selecting something with lasso tool...this little fucker makes its own selections...like last time , i was cutting out for 10 mins and then at almost very end it made its own selection , i was not finnished and could start over...
i have allmost bitten myself in the ass..
did you had this phenomena ever?
