"Peter L. Corsell, founder of GridPoint Inc., contributed $50,000 to [Barry Soetoro's] inauguration...GridPoint has benefited from scores of smart grid deals funded by the stimulus bill...in 2010 GridPoint won a $28 million contract with the United States Postal Service to install energy management systems in selected post office locations across the US."
No offense closet monopolists, but use of electrical power is done all wrong throughout the world if we were hoping for good or efficient usage. It is like we are all "thermodynamically" illiterate in the way we use and chuck heat when using fuel. (especially suit jobs) who are always on the side of "status quo", and "wasting for dollars". We tend to believe these "suited authorites" who have no interest in ever making things work right compared to raking in $s.
In our business culture we throw fuel away and never pay attention. We always always always, "chuck the heat" when generating power. With central distribution we can get 10% of the fuel used at the point of use. If we produced our own electric power with methane at point of use, we could effectively capture all the heat and not "burn two times" and "chuck the heat". That's about configuration using present methods. We got rid of the steam engine because it's way better than heat-toss-tech.
This is generally a dry video, but in terms of investment possibilities, smart grids, distributed power, demand response is a wide open field. In order for renewable energy to have any impact on the energy crisis facing the world, the first thing that is necessary to do is update the electricity transmission system; an electric interstate system, so to speak. Many utilities are very interested in the software and hardware that will enable increases in efficiency in relation to transmission.
