Everybody has there predicitions in the fights, but it only matters when they step into the ring and battle it out once they do it whos a matter of time for who ever to knock them out or submission or whatever , but they have to have good codintioning for the fight to keep there self going for it also this is why UFC is such a amazing sport adn will remain teh best in the world to watch on tv and do
Perhaps the only achievement that people might see is that of the fighter's ability to go the distance in the fight...often referred to excellent "cardio" or conditioning. Just because championship and top fighters have fights ending prematurely, it definitely doesn't mean they lack supreme conditioning.
In BJ's case, it can be said he lacks supreme conditioning. And it can be demonstrated. He's gassed in enough fights to legitimately question his cardio. In fact, his lack of conditioning is well known throughout the MMA world and prior to his NSAC complaint, was the biggest knock against him. I mean, that rock underwater bull while taking off for a vacation while supposedly training - that's the BJ the world knows - lazeeeee.
With fighters like BJ, who don't lack supreme confidence to end fights quickly, their fights hardly go the distance simply because they know they can end it beforehand...and if I may add more often on a winning note with the rare loss that comes with the job. A fighter with too many fight results via decision (including 3-round ones) will make it too difficult to reach championship status.
I would like to point out something about the discussion between quick-ending fights (by KO/TKO, submission, or referee stoppage) and 5-round decision results as it relates to "conditioning": trust me, I don't know of any fighters who wishes to go the distance for a win...nobody. Those who do however already profess what he can't do - end the fight early against opponents.
KF, a black belt as well, has been extremely void of champion status in major championships and his list of opponents. in general. is nowhere near the quality and depth that BJ has challenged. I do like KF as he is a supremely talented fighter (I especially like his Thai boxing skills that is questionably the best).
You do realize that KF went to college and played D-1 soccer and only after college did he become interested in MMA, where he immediately jumped directly into MMA avoiding the BJJ-first-then-MMA path to the UFC that Penn took? Really, your argument only proves that Penn is a world class BJJ practioner. It does NOT preclude KenFlo from being nearly as good. Try again.
My take is that BJ was a addition to black belt a "world" Brazilian jujutsu champion, a multiple UFC titles, and fought the highest quality of fighters out there, no matter the weight class to add to that.
I cant comprehend why sherk stood with penn >.>, makes me wonder if he was paid to lose, or wanted to get revenge by beating Penn standing :P. I wouldn't mind seeing a Penn vs Sherk 2, Go Huerta!
Kenny Florian is not anywhere near as good as BJ Penn... It's a much bigger difference than you made it out to be.
I think your prediction of a 5-round decision for Sherk made sense. It's just that BJ Penn is too damn good, and he refused to allow it to go 5 rounds. Hahaha.
Kenny isn't BJ's equal. He is, however, an excellent fighter whose skillset is slightly less than Penn's. It's not a huge difference. That's the thing about the skills at this level, small differences in ability get exploited for success and give the false impression of being greater.
I'm still puzzled by Sherk's plan to box with BJ. Perhaps the dumbest strategy Sherk could have used. Had he stuck to his strengths, he may not have won, but I think he could have a far better fight out of it.
i honestly can understand ur predictions of bj penn and sherk cause i think everybody just gave sherk the upper hand cause i feel that he put a bigger display of temper and revenge in the way he acted but i honestly picked BJ to win because i thought sherk would be to over hyped and i love how BJ stays calm in the worst spots and in my mind technical ability dominates cardio anyday
Thanks for the nice words on the prediction but I'm dismayed :) You didn't think AC/DC's Big Balls was a fitting musical accompaniment for this fight?
i think your predictions and everything you said were pretty good but i just cannot watch this till the end, the sound quality and volume is too bad i just can't watch this till the end, but i wanna say again that i totally agree with your thoughts.
probably cuz my the sound of my laptop is shit :s the beginning is fine but sometimes the voice is a bit low i couldnt hear well, but nevermind, bye, i hope sean sherk takes it, i hope wandy takes it and i hope machida takes it, take care, long live mma
bj has the advantege in pretty much every aspect of this fight except maybe overall strength so if sherk lands some good shots he could take this fight but if bj just fights smart hes got it won. striking and staying away if the standup and maybe even let sherk take him down so he can use that ju jitsu on sherk. thats bj penns best bet in my opinion
Being from Hilo Hawaii, I am a huge Bj Penn Fan. I think Bj will walk right through Sean Sherk to be Honest. But If Sherk does win, It will be by a 5 round split decision. Even if he takes Bj down, he wont keep him on his back very long. I'm excited to see how this fight turns out.
this guy sounds like a nerd haha but is legit
