  • i got my first Chopin' impression from him when i'm a little kid.

  • But he is one of the best chopin players

  • Yundi li makes funny faces.

  • Where do I get a complete DVD/CD of the recordings of the competition?

  • @tastyy24 You can try eBay. I bought a copy from there last Dec at a very good price. What's nice about it is it's a multi-angle DVD so you can also see the finger movement from the beginning to the end.

  • I'm a chopin addict and I must admit that this guy by far is the top Chopin-ist. He really understands Chopin's tiny details as if Chopin taught him how to play himself. His soul is playing every note with every deep feeling.

I enjoyed and loved every part of both performances ♥♫

  • He is so amazing!!!

  • Why isnt this 1 day 11 hours and 35 minutes long? :(

No such things as too much Chopin or Yundi li

  • Bravo Yundi!!! I also enjoyed the eyebrow exercises at 56:39

  • 41:00 start,i broken my heart.

  • Amazing!!

  • there is no such thing as too much chopin!

  • Not long enough.... Bravo!!!!

  • That's a hell-a long applause! His hair is amazing!

  • This is purely flawless. You can't say flawless to many performances, in fact, this is the best performance I've ever seen. Yundi Li was at his absolute best. Too bad he lost his determination and dedication to mucin because of the complexity of life. Regardless, he's always my favorite pianist

  • fuck u all, u try do better

  • When it comes to music, it doesn't matter how old you are for it to sound good. Nor does it matter if you are big or small, beautiful or ugly, heavy or light, smart or dumb. As long as you are asian, it sounds perfect. Haha, just kidding, this is beautiful and amazingly performed! :)

  • HE IS GOOD. face it haters.

  • gente culiaaaa que empieza a aplaudir antesss

  • How long will it take before people realize that perfection obstructs the progression of art?

  • Very nice for such young pianist. Bravo!

  • His Chopin is really in a class of his own...

  • good part start @ 0:00

  • I have never seen this kind of excellence-- Yundi was not just playing piano, but he was Chopin himself-- he is genius

  • Yundi Li is the best Chopin expert

  • Genius

  • omg. he is so so gret.

  • Only the better ones can say something other than BRAVO!

  • He looks Hawaiian.

  • watched whole thing, amazing, simply amazing

  • adorable

  • quit commenting on this and someone go rep America!

  • The snowflakes are covering Yundi's face!!! :o

  • You're not a virtuoso unless you have a gold ring, even if you're not married. lol

    The Zombie look...

  • his faces are the best !

  • Between 0:26:23 - 0:26:34, if you can spot more than 3 avatars, shapeshifting face Reptilians, you are really smart!!! Hint: Stop the video moment by moment. Two of them have grey skin. One of them changes his face with bumps.

  • Why is YouTube only showing my views!?

  • Yundi won the polonaise award but not the concerto award. Does anyone know what happened? who won the concerto award? What I heard is that there were 5 candidates before him playing concerto and he was the only one got standing ovation. He did miss a little bit due to lose focus at the end. But in anyway, i think the audience did the justice than the judges.

  • @fredericksburgful It wasn't because his concerto wasn't better than other people's concertos, it's because his polonaise was played better than his own concerto.

  • Does anyone know if he had any rehearsal with the orchestral before playing Concerto No1 in the final?

  • His whole body is full of music. I believe this was the actual competition.

  • I've probably listened to this performance100 times over and it never gets old

  • Young, serious looking, genuine and yet mature for his years - that was the Yundi Li that so many classical music fans came to love, not the artifical, made-up Yundi.

  • He virtually played everything RIGHT, which is no easy fait.

So sad to see that he has since regressed that much!

  • wild expression on "3.35"

  • Just Magnificent.Bravo,Bravo,Bravo,

  • "BRAVO!!.."

  • AMAZING.

  • The 84 guys who dislike this video are the ones who lost to him in the competition.

  • Oh, so agree with Mac85 above, these earless laymen must be tone-deaf to dissaprove of an 18-year-old playing this flagship masterpiece by Chopin best I have ever heard !

  • did he win the competition ?

  • @A8opi

Yes, he did win the competition and he is the youngest winner ever.

  • just amazing pianist ! genius, and so young

  • I have seen this video hundred of times. Sometimes more than four times a day. I still remember how it took me two days on end to download this gem on a dial-up connection.

  • @Atramentumink hahaha

  • Listen all one time, I'll keep studying, and going to listen all again

  • amazing

  • The guy playing the piano looks way older than 18, more like 38.

  • Totally amazing.

  • so many notes in his brain

  • it has to be slightly fast from 1:05:16 to 1:06:31, otherwise everything is perfect in the concerto

  • This is absolutely stellar, nothing else to say.

  • Yundi Li more than does justice to Chopin!

  • The Concerto N°1 is such a beautifull piece of music...

  • I love it.

  • Genius!

  • I dislike, I HATE this video because:

    -Li is great

    -He was ONLY 18 then

-He hasn't been in Wrocław yet.

  • not impressive because of so many mistouch. even he didn't press at 1:07:18 lol

  • if there ever was a god i'd like to thank it for chopin, yundi li and this wonderful noise penetrating my soul .. best youtube video bar fucking none

  • totally amazing n breathtaking

  • Concert piano part starts at 32:41

  • This guy has Insanely long fingers!!!

  • Simply amazing!!

  • everyone, who has great heart, brains and musical talent, can understand and play Chopin. I guess @D4ssault doesnt belong to them...

  • I wonder if Yundi would win if he participated in 5 years later.

  • I heard them both. Yundi is much better than Langlang. He is an artist, LL is like a technician. He interprets music with heart, LL plays it in a very skillful but rather heartless way.

  • The first part was round 2 (0:00 - 25:00), then it was the final.

  • I held my breath for 1 hour.

  • Beautiful, the days music lasted as long as a modern movie. I'm not a fan of this style, I am a sucker for Baroque. In my opinion it's the only very, very good style of music, ever written throughout history. I had to watch this though, from start to end.

  • Yundi Li ejecuta como nadie este maravilloso concierto.

  • Es imposible creer que a 77 personas no les guste esta perfecta interpretacion.

Pero enhorabuena somos mas las personas inteligentes ( 5801)

  • I wonder how can he remember all notes and the whole expression of the Concerto ... amazing memory

  • 48:45 And EVERYONE lets out all of the coughs they had respectfully been holding in.

  • @T3hL337Sesshy

Hahahha you're right :D it sounds like a freaking hospital!!

I used to hate all those coughs from the audience... until I, funny enough, went to a Yundi Li concert. I was a bit sick, but of course I didn't want to miss it!!! I remember the huge urge to cough, and my effort to try and hold back... was awful, right until the break - *COugh cough CouuGHH*... ahhhhhh......

  • I love that concerto and how he plays!

  • Who else had watched the whole thing like me? and absolutely loved it

  • @aznmasterx I did

  • LOVE... Ahhhhh....I have utermost respect for maestros.. I do not even dare imagine the number of hours they put into practicing their instruments...

  • yundi li's interpretations of ever song he's played are by far the best

  • i brought me here.

  • the keys are so clean at the start that you can see the steinway logo in the reflection

  • Is he playing on a Steinway D-274?

  • he is a amazing pianist and u can tell he plays with his heart which i think is why he's so good

  • i am listening to this and all of a sudden the adds on this page go off. fuckin jews are everywhere

  • Stop talking about Lang Lang all the time. He can't play, and he can't be compared to Yundi Li.

  • @AfroPoli

    I Absolutely Agree!

  • Bravo

  • He's just completely into the play. I want to see him performing live.

  • i love how everyone coughs after it finishes

  • never take this down pleeaassee!! it's my study music :))

  • @icseen download it fool

  • Definitely more than an hour of eargasm :) !

  • Thumbs up if you took an hour to watch the whole video!

  • @dasym it took me an hour 11 minutes & 35 seconds.

  • what language was the intro guy speaking?

  • @TheLemonPiff

    polish ;)

  • thumbs up if you ended up playing an invisible piano over your keyboard haha

  • 個人較喜歡李雲迪那種享受幻得幻失的表現感覚!

  • awesome~ i like his expressions~ haha

  • Awesome.TY the polonaise for posting.

  • I am privileged and honored even to have the chance to listen to such performance.

  • there are no words I could say to describe how much I've liked this video... WOW he´s amazing and the song is amazing as well... the 74 dislikes must definitely be deaf!

  • SUBLIME

  • The music is moving, so is his concerntration gesture, his fingers moving on the keyboard like dancing, so wonderful, Yundi!

  • i understand the 74 deaf guys who dislike this video, not being able to hear this must be frustrating!!!

  • Comment removed

  • amazing doesn't even begin to describe! this is legendary!

  • woo he is amazing

  • 10:05 Look! No eyes!

  • @D4ssault Style has nothing to do with ethnicity or nationality. Hate how you types of people make idiotic adn irrelevant assumptions.

  • @D4ssault There is nothing as rough and disgusting as a racist in the world. You shouldn't talk about arts cause you aren't even civilized.

  • 32:34 come on let me play!

  • Comment removed

  • Yundi Li >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lang Lang

  • the conductor is another beethoven! i am absolutely amazed!

  • @DarkDomnu

You mean he's composed the Chopin concerto?

Or are you comparing his conducting skills to the Beethoven recordings? ;)

  • He's in your top 5?

Can you say who are the other 4?

  • 25:33 "Oh, well now that I've seen Yundi Li's performance I guess there's no reason to stay and watch the rest of the chopin cometition."

  • I would say his talent is past the point of being described as "promising". That implies he needs to improve. I don't think you need to improve upon perfection. Just saying.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that is all

  • I enjoy this young man more than any young pianist. This man has promising talent. God Bless Him. Thanks for posting. When you have more, post more Yundi Li, please.

  • The best piece of music that I love starts at 33:12...

  • i just love chopin's piano concerto no.1 and even more when yundi li plays it :)

  • Powerful performance! Such precision and style!

  • 6:58 air piano

  • I like how at around 3:32 he looks over to his left, like "WHO IS THAT OVER THERE?".

  • @laidbackguy777

    his right, you mean

    LOL

  • What makes this video hard to watch is BEING 18 years old. I cant believe I used to be proud of myself for stuff. D:

  • search up Kissin playing of chopins waltzes. now dont tell me he cant play chopin because that video proves he has a part of chopins soul aswell no doubt. maybe even more than Li. for crying out loud, kissin played both concertos when he was 12

  • @CziffraTheThird Talk about a major over-achiever! Excellent hair too. Kissin's interpretations of Chopin's Ballades are also very good. He does a lot of Liszt but I really think he shines when it comes to Chopin.

  • @CziffraTheThird what's your point of mentioning kissin in yundi li's video? lol r u trying to turn yundi's fan into kissin's fan?

  • @zzhhaannggddii

Why not discuss talented pianist in a discussion about pianist? I would mention Kissin as well for those who have never heard him.

  • @laidbackguy777 i guess virtually everyone who plays piano would know kissin...

  • Thank god for Youtube. It would be a travesty if performances like this were forgotten. He immediately sets the tone with the opening triplets of the Scherzo and by the time he hits that first B flat 5 bars in, I'm a believer. He seems to have a tremendous ability to make the piano ring and resonate without overshadowing the nuances and colours of the piece.

  • 1:06:50 haha or was it just me, Yundi to play the piano and to conduct at the same time

  • The applause and call of encore that was heard at the end of the competition, normally reserved for professional pianists is indication that Yundi was indeed quintessentially par excellence. Bravo !!

  • I've heard many play Chopin, and let me tell you; very few are as good as Yundi Li. Martha Argerich is the only other one that can do Chopin well.

  • @BigStick3456 dont forget Kissin!

  • 72 people don't have fingers but somehow managed to click dislike button.

  • The best performance I ever heard!

  • his face is so adorable :) it looks like he's really into the song, and putting emotions into it. He plays so amazingly! LOVE HIM!

  • J aime a 100%

  • @casawi75 Moi aussi. :)

  • I really like the first song, it's not as complex or has as much depth as say the ballades, and it isn't as difficult to play, but it still sounds really neat.

  • 0:57 wonderful!....

  • whenever i heard until 9:38-39......its obvious...

  • he's truly like him :)

  • I really like his performance in those days.

  • The Grande Polonaise Brillante in this video is even better than his recent performance.

  • Always a pleasure to listen to him play.

  • He is fantastic :)

  • 細膩的指法,又浪漫的風格,非常的棒

  • 彈得超棒的.......真是沒話說啊~~~~非常喜歡噎

  • people whom dislike him has a reason, because Yundi Li personality aren't good as you think

  • His interpreation lacks an sense of overall structure in the total arc of the piece. He does have a good sense of chopinquesk rubato. Listen to Rubinstein to see how it can/should sound.

  • @JamesinLA1 Rubenstein is indeed good, but I dislike his Chopin Scherzos because his ones lacks "power"

  • what have I been doing? I am 17 hoping to go into music. But to compete in midst of these creators of perfection? Am I utmost out of my mind?

  • @KoPianoBeautiful not in the least. Music making, at any level, is for everyone. :)
