I'm amazed that people are still hopping up the Kent engine today. I thought the Zetec, Rover K Series, Ford Modular Motor, Cadillac Northstar, Nissan and Lexus mills supplanted them. I've wondered if you can fit a Holley 4 Barrel carb on a Kent mill.
good question...every time i have them out for a clean i never think to write the numbers down...sorry, cant remeber off the top of my head. Will let you know though when i next take them out.
i must admit, when i floor it at low revs it does take a while to pick up....could be a few things....The Cam or the jetting. I do think Carbs struggle with low rev response...As long as it pulls hard from about 2.5k to red line, i would be ok with that.
ive got twin DHLA 40's on my 2ltr pinto in my mk2, and its the same, its smooth, but doesnt really get up and go unless to coast it, then stomp it at 2-3K rpm.
seriously mate your car is just beautiful im 13 and i seriously want a mk2 my dad used to have a few but got rid of them all before i came along lol pls keep the vids coming
very cool setup on your car i was wondering how much the carbs cost to put in? was it much work? what other things to increase HP have you done? ive got a 1300 mk2 that i want to do up
cheerz bud i got the carbs with the engine for £450 but the engine was in bits so i had to build it which was a gamble but my spec of engine 2nd hand will cost you about £800 with the carbs. Carbs new are about £750 all in on their own.
It was alot of work cus i put a bias pedal box on to make enough room for the carbs, but if you have a servo on your car, carbs will fit easy with the right inlet manifold.
main thing to gain HP (other than cc) is head work i.e valve train, cams etc

mine is 62 idle, 150 main and 190 air corrector ;-)
but I have a 'hole' in the acceleration when I kick down at slow rpm...
