  • Don't be so critical with his performance, at least he explains it fine.

  • you have no fu**ing idea of flamenco...

  • you're handsome man!

  • You should learn flamenco before try to teach it... That s SHIT

  • how can i get the chords ??

  • he is too sweet for raegueado...

  • I'm sorry, but this is a terrible rasqueado. This looks like a classical guitarist trying to do rasqueado without practicing for the hours and hours and hours it takes to build up enough strength to do it properly.

  • this dude needs to upgrade his lvl if he wants to get past pillow pants!!!!!!!!

  • This is legit.

  • Jeez! come on! how can you post this! honestly the rasguedo is awful. if your going to try and teach this then get it right. What the hell is your thumb doing! and there is no separation in the fingers. Its not good.

  • lol hold down 4

  • la concha de tu madre

  • that is really how you should NOT do a resgueado, unless you just want to do it like this guy and there is nothing wrong with that, but you are never going to be able to RASGUEAR BIEN.

  • Comment removed

  • This is an insult to all classical/ flamenco professionals out there. Andres Segovia just rolled over in his grave.

  • You don't snap from the thumb! This guy has terrible technique. For correct technique check out the pumping nylon book by Scott Tennant. If you are learning the classical guitar you should have this book anyway instead of listening to some idiot from a website!

  • Seriously, I have to agree with the numerous posts below. If you really want to learn proper rasqueado technique do no listen to this guy, he will ruin you. His rasqueado technique is %100 flawed. Im not trying to be a jerk, im sure this guy can play guitar quite well, but he obviously knows nothing about proper flamenco technique.

  • NEVER learn flamenco from an American!

  • Whatever you do, DO NOT 'fire' your fingers out from behind your thumb. Doing this will generate so much unwanted muscle tension. For the proper technique, players you should watch are Gabriela (of Rodrigo y Gabriela), Paco de Lucia, Paco Pena, John Williams and Segovia (although he generally tends to use a more subdued technique. Also I recommend watching John Williams playing Asturias (originally by Isaac Albeniz and composed for the piano). Good hunting!

  • You play horribly bad. You better quit doing what you think you're doing. You can't teach classical guitar if you suck at it, the same goes for flamenco. You are a mediocre guitar player who think you're a master of every style while the truth is you don't even have fingernails whice are required for those styles. I can't believe you have the dignity to show your face on YouTube.

  • Ha ha ha! That is the exact same progression I used to master this technique years ago. But still, like most here, I do it from the first to the last, not the way that is shown. I have found it is much better for the return on the upstroke so that you can add a little more oomph and detail. I can do it either way. And as he said: do NOT be afraid to hit it hard!

  • this man doesn't know anything about flamenco techniques, don't get reference...

  • @fthtkn who do you recommend?

I've been trying to make this technique sound smooth, and so far the close up on this is the best image of how the hand is prepared for the strum.

    Any suggestion?

  • @Nauticalman I recommend Chicuelo , Miguel Angel Cortes , Paco De Lucia'a videos on Youtube , even Juan Martin , i know that you are trying to teach people , so sorry for my aggressive comment but this is not a good tutorial.

  • What if I start with my index finger instead of my pinky?? Can i do that or is that just wrong?

  • @scarfr156 yea i found it a whole lot easier to start with index finger.. lol.

  • @yIdeas Same here, but I notice all the pros start with the 4th finger. I think it might have something to do with reversing the strum back up from strumming it down, not sure.

But I agree, third and 4th fingers just don't like to take the lead for some reason.

  • Thumbs up if You clicked on the video, because You thought He was Jack Black!!! :D

  • "hit it dont tickle it" -malcolm young

  • When doing this is it absolutely necessary to start from the pinky? cause i naturally just start with my index finger and end in my pinky. cant do it the other way around D:

  • did you do the voice of the hippie teacher on beavis and butt head??

    good lesson by the way

  • learning from YAMAHA music school is to expensive and the teacher teah nothing...this man teach me alot!!

  • Lol I do it the opposite way. Starting from the index X)

  • lol is it me or does that dude look like brad pit with long hair? xD

  • this dude can teach !!

  • Hmmmm!

  • when he moves he's head it's like saying i'm beautiful....lmfao!

  • play me some paco de lucia or else you aren't worth the time...

  • I see the lesson, but where is the next level part? Can you play me something so that I know you are worth learning from?

  • thank you ! very helpfull !

  • lol @ 1:18. seriously though, keep the vid's coming bra. You're a good teacher.

  • thankS! great video..

  • Great video thanks

  • I realize this is a begining lessons, for people who don;t know anything about rasgueado, but the instructor doesn't really have good flamenco technique.

  • Buuuuuuuuh Buuuuuuuuuuh....

    Keep on practicing fella!

  • bad lesson, if you want to learn rasgueados, look for flamenco technique. E.g Ruben Diaz videos.

  • this is not rasqueado.

  • My Almansa 403 Cedro (Made in Spain) pwns all of your spanish guitars. xd

  • @TheBlueBandYTAccount you fcking suck asshole

a good guitar player powns you on every fcking single guitar

    douchebag

  • I have to admit, this sounds like garbage.

  • lmao 1:18 hes teaching us something more than just guitar lessons

  • @chucknorris0325 lmaoooo good eye

  • thats rich

  • @chucknorris0325 i totally saw that too! does this guy even know he did that?

  • @chucknorris0325 LMFAO ... lol what wanker :P

  • @chucknorris0325 fucking hilarious!!!! Good eye.

  • @chucknorris0325 hahahaha

  • @chucknorris0325 HA HA I GET IT i think XD

  • This technique is incorrect. Practice resting the the thumb on the e-string. Otherwise you'll never develop proper rhythm.

  • hey i thaught you should hold the fingers with the malp and rest the thumb on the low e ?? some one explain

  • This is correct. Fingers should rest in the palm. However, in my opinion, it's not entirely "necessary" to rest the thumb on the low e. It is more of a common/original approach to execute the technique though.

This isn't really the place to learn rasgueado or other fingerstyle techniques =)

  • i like this video it is the best of all spanish-songs.

    Yeah thx

  • im white and i could of said it better...

    Rasqueado!

cool man but this lesson should of only been 20 seconds long. and you do look like fat mike, minus the drugs

  • The Spanish guitar is the same as Modern Classical Guitar. It has 6 nylon strings, but the three bass strings are wrapped with a thin metal thread. Both guitars are considered interchangable, therefore are the same.

Folk guitars ( 6 steel strings ) are not good for playing Flamenco, too hard on the fingers.

  • johndawson420 i don't think it's very vice to play flamenco for example onsteel string guitar. well i guess you can few days but it's not good to your fingers.

  • LOL .This guy looks like Fat mike

  • Burn in hell, fool.

  • lol at 1:18 looks like he's jerkin off ha ha laughed so hard, great vid man pretty cool intro

  • i think that flamenco is on classic

  • is it possible to play flamenco on classical

  • absolutely. you can play flamenco on any guitar.

  • Ok lol. I can't hold my thumb like that :')

  • TYLER...you are THE man...enjoyed it very much; clear, clean and informative! We'll look for more from you.

  • Flamenco technique is totally another chapter from the guitar "usual" technique, at least for me.

Although im not an expert bt not a beginner i must admit that Flamenco is very difficult to play plus the classical guitar size its like a torture for me. Anyway I play electric so i can not do this right now, even try. so I will wait a couple of months to see if I can buy some acoustic one.

  • The thing Joe Walsh did in Hotel California uplugged version around Em and F# chord, what's that technique called?

  • I don't know, but I've been trying to do the same thing and it never works for me.

He does it in a video lesson but I can never figure out how to make it work.

  • use new strings, let your fingernails grow a little bit and practice a lot.

  • I was replying to shemlexluger.

I can do a rasqueado, but I have no idea how to do what Joe did.

  • Cheers mate this is so good

  • with the Rasqueado, can you do it index to pinky instead?

  • I think that would be harder to do 0.0

  • no but you can strum upwards using just your thumb...

  • I've been waiting for this !!!

    thanks!

  • I think there's a couple of different approaches to this. My uncle taught it to me this way but then later I learned it with just the a m i fingers, no little finger.

Then you're suppose to come back the other way and continue to keep it rolling and not stop with a thumb stroke. Anyone care to comment on this? Thanks for the lesson. I'm going to add my thumb.

  • He just couldn't fuckin resist! lmao

  • rasqueados are supposed to be on a,m, and i...not the pinky, and have to be played evenly...

  • Beautiful explanation and demonstration, Tyler.

    Thank YOU

  • wow lol, NLG has REALLY been impressing me lately. i never thought they'd ever post a flamenco lesson, let alone classical! well done guys!

The chord progression he's teaching is a rumba :D that's cool.

  • very good

  • nice but 1:17 lol

  • It's 1:18 actually but lmao anyways

  • thats how you play classical guitar, you play with your nails.

  • sounds great

  • i recently purchased a Yamaha CG101 classical nylon string guitar. ive never owned a classical guitar before, only steel string, but i really like the classical.

  • Those are nice guitars.

  • yeah, it really is, every time i play, i get lost in it, its a really nice guitar.

  • are those nylon strings?

  • yeah

  • yes!

  • Of course they are....The bridge of the guitar wouldn't hold the tension of steel strings.

  • definately!

  • The progression is called "andalusian cadence". Check out the Wikipedia on this.

The rasgueado is more complex though! :)

  • thanks.

  • That classic progression always makes me think of the big fight scene in Kill Bill. (Santa Esmerelda's cover of "Don't let me be misunderstood) Thanks for the lesson. Keep the Flamenco coming, such a great lively style of play.

  • Nice guitar!!!!!!!!

  • Keep the classical lessons coming nextlevelguitar!

  • ey!

    great vid
