i think both magpies and sparrow hawks are lovely and beautiful birds if the sparrowhawk was a male they might be evenly matched.

p.s dump your televison you do know sparrowhawks live almost entierly on small birds and pidgeons ?

It did finally kill it after about 20 minutes and then ate some of it on the patio before carrying off the remains.
