the legendary Drexler. I think this guy secretly wore roller skates the way he just moved around the court so smoothly. Loved that play against the magic where he took 2 dribbles from half court and layed the ball in over Scott.
glad he won the title and also gained the accolades he always deserved playing for a larger market than portland.
still think 3:20 is one of the best dunks ever, considering it was Game 3 of the Finals, and the Summit went CRAZY after it, then Clyde gets a technical foul for bouncing the ball after the dunk........yeah i remember :)
With all the stellar NBA players out there, Clyde Drexler's statistics are just "OK". But watching him play this game set my blood boil, because he is so fun and so exciting to watch. He can raise up the atmosphere of the whole stadium with his game.
With all the stellar NBA stars, Clyde Drexler's statistics are considered "mediocre". But watching him play this game set my blood boil, because he was so exciting to watch. He can literally raise up the excitement of the whole stadium.
I loved how Tracy Murray felt the need to wave at the crowd even though he was a complete afterthought in the trade and wasn't even on the Rockets' playoff roster that season.
seriously how SMOOTH was the Glyde? I remember being 14 or 15 (early teens) during these years and me and my pops and brother would go absolutely APE SHIT over these games. MY GOD was that a fun time to be in Houston. Even listening to the games on the radio were outstanding!!!!
I really see good things this season with Artest. Landry, Scola, and Brooks looking nice. Joey Dorsey will be intimidating this year. I'll just say, we have the deepest and most talented team in the league.
Nice champion rings and playoff experience with Brent Barry too. We got the 3 shooters, 10 guys playing 20+ mins a night if we need it.
They just aren't making'em like this anymore, player who played the game to WIN and wanted to be a CHAMPION! No bitchin' about contracts, and money, and being whiney assed selfish overpaid pansies like there are in todays game. Glide & Dream 4ever!!!
@bigtexansfan hell yea i feel ya dawg fuck tha nba elite players, Excluding kevin martin n kyle lowry they are floppin ass whinin ass cryin ass pussy ass bitch made players who destroy tha game wit all that floppin bullshit
@bigtexansfan This comment made my day. you are completely right, like what the hell is wrong with basketball? crying about contracts? crying about your team? what the hell is that about. your comment really made my day
@sera7ares Bingo! I say LeBron is one of few in the league today who's not doing it for the money anymore, he want's to be a champion. Anyone who knows anything about basketball simply know that wasn't going to happen in Cleveland.
i still rememebr that 2nd quarter of game 1 in the finals, there was a period where Clyde was literally everywhere on the court, getting rebounds, scoring, stealing passing...it was incredible.
I'm an NC State guy and personally believe that Hakeem and Clyde were owed something after '83 - so why not an NBA title with the Rockets? Terrific stuff.

clyde drexler is the man, i wish there would be more players in the nba that would study and learn his style, i miss the grace, the smoothness of "the glide"
One of my favorite memories in sports history. Glide getting his ring with college buddy and possibly the best center of all time, the Dream. And dominating Shaq and the Magic! Good stuff!
I remembered that moment when Clyde was calmly giving the post game press conference (as if he didn't know how to celebrate a championship) and Kenny Smith had to come out and show him how!
Clyde had a quadruple double as a Rocket. He could do everything.

That basketball team was tough as nails, from Dream and Clyde to Elie, Cassell, and Horry. That's how they overcame so much to win that title.

Portland missed being a dynasty by the flip of a coin in 1984. Can you imagine Dream and Clyde playing together for 10 years?
