We are in a world of hurt. GOP get off your duff and do something besides obstructing the opposite party . Start worrying about the 14 million out of work rather than keeping things bad so Obama will lose reelection. I am on to you.
The Republicans say they have between 15 and 20 job creating bills that passed in the House and they say the Senate is sitting on them. I looked up these bills and there is NOTHING in these bills that even looks at jobs. They are "EPA killing" bills. The EPA is not the problem, demand is the problem. Please you guys, don't trust the same people that got us in to this mess. Thanks!
Read the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, the Federalist Papers, Bastiat's The Law. Know the history of USA or you can't support & defend it. @operationflashlight - I indicated "BOTH parties are at fault." At some point he must take responsibility. Two yrs of total D rule and his choice was O'care? R's have controlled the House for 10 mos yet it's their fault? Bush did not have R majorities for his last two years and it's still HIS fault? 80,000 jobs a month - that's the number of people who attend one college football game on Saturday. It isn't working, he needs to divert.
Funny thing about the number 14 million unemployeed. You can give each one of them $1 million and combined they would have less money than our national debt sits at now!
PLEASE STOP USING GENERALIZED TALKING POINTS. Every one of my posts give examples time for you guys to do the same. If you're going to say regulations hurt businesses please tell us how. I will. In the Dodd-Frank Act it's illegal now to make predetory lending. That's great. Does it hurt banks? Yes. Does it protect homeowners? Yes. Who's side are you on?
operationflashlight = Dear dim dunce you asked how do "regulations" hurt business? By having the dipsy doodle Obama NO DUST BILL invade & evict farmers who use equipment that might create DUST? That means cement companies & farms & ranches would have to create ZERO "dust". Or be fined or stop working. Of course DUST STORMS ARE EXEMPT! Obama cannot figure out how to bill GOD & shut His weather down. So far. (oh course Oprah claims she the new self christ now)...so God might be off the hook.
OH PLEASE! He said 3 weeks ago that we were NOT better off and he's correct.
His policies are failures and he either doesn't realize that his regulations are continuing to drive businesses into the ground, or he's doing it on purpose. BOTH parties bills stink. If the uber-left-better-than-everyone-else had half the brain they (you) think they (you) have, they'd (you'd) realize both parties are at fault. Stop blaming BOOOOSH. After three years this IS Obama's economy.
@MsRedwhiteandblue 1) This is NOT Obama's economy. Obama's economy would have saved or created nearly 2 million jobs without adding to the debt. Not sure if you took a social studies class, but it takes congress to do certain things. So if you want to blame a party blame the republicans.
As far as being better off, check out the Bush Obama chart and tell me if we're better off with Obama or Bush. Also check to see if the stimulus worked and come back and tell me it didn't create jobs.
@operationflashlight Yeah, offshore drilling. How stupid....that wouldn't create more jobs, would it. And if our country was less dependent on foreign energy, that wouldn't help our economy at all. Wait. what?
@katwil89 Yes, out of the "Forgotten 15" offshore drilling would create jobs. Problem is WE CAN'T WAIT 8 years. Too bad roads and bridges can't buy republicans.
The rest of the "jobs" proposals are deregulation and cutting taxes. SMART!
Let's start with the first one on the list shall we?
1) The Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act (H.R 872) - Reduces overlapping and unnecessary regulation on
pesticides; thereby reducing costs to both farmers and small business owners. Wait. What?
@operationflashlight Steve Jobs, meeting with Obama in 2010, stated plainly that there needed to be less regulation. Jeffrey Immelt, chief executive officer of General Electric Co. (GE) and head of President Obama’s own Council on Jobs and Competitiveness has called for less regulation, stating that big companies like GE can "muscle through" these regulations but "If you’re a $50 million business, it’s just so much harder."
I'd say those calling for less regulation are in good company.
@ShadesOfFall I don't understand what you're trying to do here. Are you trying to play a name game? Okay, first of all let's get a credible economist. Let's get an economist period. Paul Vocker former chairman of the Federal Reserve under Carter and Reagan called for more regulation of banks. He spoke against proprietary trading, private equity, and hedge fund investments. GE did not pay anything in taxes instead got tax rebates. Is that patriotic when America is in the shape it's in?
operationflashlight = YEP! ... getting rid of all "overregulation" might allow to much WORK and BUSINESS to begin huh - and you dims cannot have that. Someone might build a auto shop or tire store. And if you dims are not there to lick the ground & see if it tastes like Obama kisses then you would have no way to STOP THOSE DIRTY BUSINESSES HUH? Buy the way drilling offshore is good for America. If you do not like it? MOVE! There are some pirate covered oil less islands you can grift to. ~bye bye
It's like we elected children on both sides. If the GOP were truly trying they'd know it's not Obamas' fault, it's a huge mix of Congress, The FED, Real Estate agents, Clinton Admin, Bush Admin, and home buyers...No Obama to be found. I wonder if this comment will be removed...
@Fugglor Blame Bush?? Really? That's so two and a half years ago. What has Odumbo done to fix unemployment since then? Bush was a crappy president, but Obama has made things much, much worse. Now we have a lot more debt and higher unemployment. He's either an idiot or he's ruining this country on purpose. But really after 2 1/2 years, this is his mess, not Bush's.
Mistakes like this don't just go away with time. We have more debt and slightly higher unemployment because Obama is trying to actually do something about this shit, and the only way to do that is to spend money. That's how capitalism works. The unemployment rate is just a side effect of the sorry state of the economy. It may be his mess to fix, but he definitely didn't cause it, which is why it's unfair to blame him.
@Fugglor Wait a minute you said " We have more debt and slightly higher unemployment because Obama is trying to actually do something about this shit, and the only way to do that is to spend money." So you're saying yourself that what Obama is doing ISN'T WORKING. We have more debt and unemployment. Tell me something. If you had massive debt, would you go out and charge some more stuff on your credit card or would you try to spend less money?

the problem is the GOP Jobs Bill doesn't include wasteful perks to big Democrat donors, all it does is create jobs.

Energy jobs sure are hurting North Dakota with an unemployment rate of 3.2 Percent.

@operationflashlight Thank you. It really bothers me when people blame the economy on Obama. It was shit before he came into office, not after.

Read the "jobs" bills and you see how ridiculous the GOP's plans are.
It's all deregulation and tax cuts. To be fair, they have a bill that creates jobs. it's number 4 - Offshore drilling PATHETIC!

And we're going to blame this on Obama? Not the Bush Administration, which was the main reason we have such a horrid unemployment rate? Laughable.
