only solution is to "reflow" the video chip to save the laptop but if its dedicated video card then replace the video board. this is caused by overheating CLEAN THE VENTS EVERY 3 MONTHS OR SO TO KEEP IT FROM CLOGGING WITH DUST
I've had one of these for about six years and it's been a great desktop replacement, the only real limiter that makes me want to replace it is the slow graphics chip-set and the small hard-drive.
Over the years I have added some ram, (which greatly extended the life of the machine, and repaired a burnt out cooling fan. Oh the power adapter burnt out two after about five years of constant AC use. The thing has more than paid for itself. Benefits greatly from a cooling pad w/fans.
all hp computers come from sveden and those hp computers really suck, if you buy 1000dollars hp computer its good to gaming but brokes in under 1 month
HP makes defective products... google E9180F FREEZES & BSODS to learn more about HPs most recent fuck over on it's customers... spread the word... and help people save their hard earned money!!
Well, it kind of depends on which system board you have. HP decided to use NVidia vs. ATI. Three G.P.U.'s were available, in either 64Mb or 128Mb as follows:
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 Ultra 128Mb
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 Ultra 64Mb
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600 Ultra 128Mb
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600 Ultra 64Mb
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700 Ultra 128Mb
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700 Ultra 64Mb
Open the memory panel, locate the spare # below the left memory module on a black plastic shield.
I know it got fixed, but you could have taken it apart, clean the GPU and put Artic Silver 5 thermal paste, cleaned heatsink, put it back together, BAM its saved.
My fuckin computer like this starts up but my fucking screen broke so i cant see shit the hard drives and all that shit works but this fuckin computer is fucking retarded i hate it now
drivers arent loaded untill about 10 seconds after you press the power button and the actual OS loads. drivers wont do anything if the GPU has fucked itself. :/
this laptop seems to have overheated a lot. I got lots of problems myself:
HDD broken - solved by changing it
Monitor has a pink line - solved by sending it to HP for replacement.
Graphic card broken. solved. I changed the motherboard.
New motherboard has problem: does not recognise optical drive, and often turn itself off (overheating). the graphic often changed itself to 1024 resolution.
I woudl figure caus it is soo big that it would have a bit of a cooling system in it but i though wrong

@mkupo112 Not the HP pavilion 1445c, 7 years of age and still works perfect! It even has a recovery partition if the software brakes down.
