2009 - 2012 touring models have the cat in the head pipes (the part where the pipes comes out directly from the engine). When I changed my head pipes to Vance & Hines Power Duals the sound is much louder because there isn't any cat in them.
I changed my head pipes. The cat converter is in the head pipes from 2009 model onwards. It is the cat that makes it muffled. Once you change the head pipes the sound should be louder.
BenElicier, i got it off the rack from Kuryakyn. Go to their website and look for Curved License Plate Mount (part number: 3163). Very easy to install. Depending on your light fixture, you may have to do a bit of modification like drilling an extra hole on your fender if it doesn't fit. That's what i did.
Love the sound of the rush slip on's. I'm sure they'll sound just as great with the power duals. You'll also appreciate the slight power gain. Enjoy! And thanks for the compliment.
@cheongster22 thats the the sound im hoping for. i have an 09 r.k. with slip on ovals just like yours. i was not happy with the sound so i just ordered v&h dresser duals. was there a big difference in sound when you got rid of the stock headers...
@gonzbratz4 good choice! Yes the sound did get better after installing the duals. That's because the duals come without the cat convertor (unlike the stock headers). However do note that the difference may not be very great initially but it grows with time. I only heard a significant difference after my second servicing at 8000 km /(5000 miles).
just ordered my power duals 2 weeks ago still on back order, pairing them with rush slip on's (2inch baffles) hope they sound as good as those ovals man....nice sled

good night friend
I have a 2011 Roadking, and I think they now use the exhaust 2x1x2.
I exchange my tip but still with a very muffled sound.
so you get this result of the sound on your bike you changed something in your catalyst, which is before the tip?
hug and thanks

Cheongster22 how did you modified the license plate. Is that a bolt on aftermkt or you did the work on your on?
