The extra 4. DOF on your two front legs would be awesome. Hmm.. Imagine an octopod with 8 legs and these as the to front legs. Then you can walk with ripple gait with 6 of the legs and use the front legs as arm/gripper.
8 servos in the front two legs. In the final design, the rear legs will have 3 servos each, for a total of 20 servos in the six legs. (Then two more for the camera pan/tilt, three in the arm, and three in wrist/gripper!)
