I thought I had seen all the best model airplane videos, but then I found yours. And let me just tell you, and I really mean this now, your video has changed my life. Like, to the extreme. For the best. And the music was just the cherry on top of an already highly calorific piece of model airplane cake. Anyhow, I'm starting to ramble now, so let me just say: I love you man. Thanks for the video. Takes me back to my early teens in the '60s. I flew Stardusters, straight, X, 350 and the 900. Awesome models. Hand cranking Cox .049/.051 on crankcase pressure with a bored out venturi, that wasn't easy. Neither was hand cranking the K&B 40 on crankcase pressure. Builds character doing that. I still have all my parts though there are scars to show what not to do.

@aeomaster32 using too much zoom at launch makes it hard to follow the climb.Best to zoom in while the model is climbing

remotecontrol please refrain from calling anyone retards. I filmed this event. The majority of the planes had motors/engines. Yes, some were free flight gliders but most had motors.

I built one of these in 1978. I was 14 at the time. It was powered by a PAW 1.49cc deisel motor. I used the thermal fuse and rubber band method for the DT. First flight climbed on power to about 1000 feet. It looked great. Then the engine time elapsed and the fookin thing nosedived like an exocet. I never understood why it wouldn't pull out of the dive when it climbed beautifully and all glide test flights were perfect.

mabey wind. my dad made a glider that wasn't supposed to fly, and his buddy said he would hold it inis closet til he came back, so when my dad left, HE THREW IT OFF THE ROOF. my dad came back and was like wtf? and his friend said "iT DidnT FlY..."

certain models do not transition well from climb to glide-something to do with the aspect ratio of the wing. These models need a timer to momentarily apply down elevator to transition to glide- its called a "bunt"

I remember building the plane from a set of plans. I bought the plans from the Aeromodeller plans handbook. I'm not sure if they are still available now. The plans never stated any timers etc were to be used. Just a thermal fuse for the DT. I can still remember after all these years digging the engine out of the ground. It was wrecked,cylinder head snapped off. Brand new engine aswell. Used all my pocket money for three months to build it.

I am not an expert by any means and was relaying something I had read. I guess some competition models have wings that are relatively narrow as compared to wingspan and these are the type that can have transition prbls. I do not know anything else That might have caused your crash,except something might have come loose under power-but that is usually the pop up tail group on fuse dts and that would have caused something other than a steep dive. I fly Nostalgia Gas- they trans. great

It was.. Also, my first time taping airplanes.. As you can imagine rather difficult keeping an eye on the planes..
