  • she sound like zsa zsa gabor very charming accent

  • this is wonderful

  • People are way to critical. I love her voice.

  • Really cool to hear her speak :D

I can understand her fine, but I can think of a few of my friends who might have difficulty trying to figure out what she's saying. Still, really neat to hear her, thanks :]

  • OH WOW! i never heard her talk before so thankyou for this!!She wasn't that bad talking!

  • Yeah, quite a thick accent. Dietrich and Garbo didn't sound like that. But perhaps Rod la Roque loved it!

  • Thanks for posting. She died in 1991. I wonder if she had an auto-biography. After Valention died, she made some big movies with Ronald Coleman. I would like to know more about Vilma.

  • Vilma apparently had a few boy toys before she settled with Rod. I doubt her and Valentino were ever an item...he was devastated over the loss of Natacha. Her accent is okay, but it is very heavy...even compared with other silent stars.

  • I think people keep forgetting something. Rudy was hurt over Natacha filing for divorce. But, Rudy did not do without. Rudy went out with another actress named Pola Negri not too long afterward. Also, he took out other girls. But, Vilma had boy toys? I didn't know that. I would like to know more about that.

  • No one forgets it...but pending his death and all Pola Negri was about all he got to do. And by most accounts he didnt like her that much. She was a bit wild.

  • Well generally that would be the definition of a fling but how do either of us (or anyone other than themselves) know how much if any sex they had? Jeesh I dont want to know THAT much!

Rudy wasnt very wild at all...he'd go to parties and such but was quite a homebody. Read "Dark Lover" if you want more on that. Pola was quite wild according to friends like Miriam Cooper, etc. Not necessarily bad or good depending who you ask. As for Vilma I cant find where I read that...I'll have to add

  • add it later :(. I thought it was on the vilma banky site but apparently somewhere else!

  • You're right we don't know a lot of things. But, Rudy and Pola were dating and having sex. We have to go by what we read i guess. Yes, i know Rudy was a more a homebody type. But, Rudy and Pola had an open relationship. I read that he took out other girls while dating Pola. So, you are saying Rudy didn't like Pola going to parties. Ok. Yes. I am curious to know more about Vilma. ;)

  • @theposhone Robert Ames did die in 1931 but not by suicide according to Hollywood Babylon. Several of his sound films survive.

  • @hoss73ford1 Hollywood Babylon is pure fiction, I wrote an article debunking it.

  • @theposhone TCM is showing "The Tresspasser" on 12-14. Robert Ames is with Gloria Swanson in that one. Sources use to give age 33 at the time of his death but the IMDB database is saying 42 and I'm tending to agree with that one.

  • THANK YOU. I HAVE WANTED TO HEAR HER SPEAK.

But, what is the problem? I think her voice is fine. She sounds great. A lot of people have accents. I think she was the best with Rudy Valentino. They were good friends in real life. He confided in her. But, i think Rudy had a girlfriend at the time Pola Negri. I don't know if Vilma had a boyfriend in 1925/26.

  • I heard the audiences back then had trouble understanding her but I don't have any trouble! Her accent was charming!

  • I agree. I think she keeps her words at a minimum, and she talks slow, so it's easier to understand her words. By this scene, i understood all her words.
