  • poongko got his revenge

  • IRONY

  • Without Seth and his combos over and over, Poongko is nothing compared to the rest of the field. He just got lucky as no one had ever really played his style beforre. Plus Daigo didnt use Ryu vs Poongko at Evo. would have been a waay different story.

  • @dharmaboy75 Poongko can play any character at a high level. He can do rsf loops consistently and fierce feint combos. Also he's really good at KOF. sad that you would steal credit from someon

  • Evo was just luck daigo just beat poongko 22-8

  • @SwAgGiNg559 oh yeah, I heard a rematch has already taken place

  • @s081101 Yea Daigo won, but it was a good series.

  • @SwAgGiNg559 lol a perfect on round 4 a luck? ok

  • Daigo owns poongko anyday

  • @yerky01

    evo 2011 says different

  • Comment removed

  • Daigo owned by little Poongko

  • poongko got the last laugh at EVO 2011

  • @jhericurl92 who says its the last?

  • Poongko seems very very salty from that match.

  • Why did Daigo even decide to use Yun at EVO? He wasn't that good with him. I hope he comes back to his senses and switches back to Ryu at EVO 2012.

  • @Incog2k6 I'm laughing at your comment. Last i heard, Daigo had the most BP for his Yun and has achieved GRAND MASTER ranking status. He's officially recognized as the best Yun in Japan (if not, the world). Yun is also a much better character in AE than Ryu. With that being said, Daigo simply had an off-night at EVO 2011. It probalby wouldn't matter if Daigo switched to Ryu. Poongko made incredible reads and predictions all night and made Umehara pay the price.

  • @strider2k2 i think it would've made a difference if daigo used ryu. but he didn't, because ryu is nerfed. yun is op, but the thing is with yun that he doesn't have a lot of variety when it comes to attacks. his main attack is the diving kick. once you figure that out, yun is like an open book. when capcom buffs ryu again, i'm pretty sure daigo would defeat poonko's seth. ryu has great offense, defense and distance gaming which is perfect for daigo's style.

  • @Incog2k6 'Cause Ryu got nerfed in AE and Yun is OP.

  • @Incog2k6 You don't know anything.

  • 2 years later daigo gets destroyed by poongko.

GOod shut poongko, got a percect on him and daigo didnt even win a damn round..

  • Worst commentator ever >_>..

  • just OH OH OH THIS THAT.. LOL

  • poongko vs daigo for evo finals

  • @Lazyninja510

    dude...

  • who would've guessed poongko is now kicking ass with seth. I can't wait for poongko's rematch with daigo this year on evo hopefully.

  • @Dan1104xv Damn straight... but I can't see him stopping Daigo's Yun.

  • @Thealmostguy hahahahahahahahaha

  • @Thealmostguy Not just stopping Daigo's Yun, making Daigo look fucking free.

  • @YayoiTsubaki Umehara got his vengeance though. Order has been restored!

  • @Dan1104xv DAIGO GOT BEASTED

  • oooo OOOOOOO .......OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O?

  • Worst commentator EVER

  • So Daigo won.....? From the title I assumed Daigo was the one on the left.....

  • @rrwryan u assumed wrong

  • OOH tatsu...OOH hadouken...OOH shoryu....OOH tatsu...OOOH shoryu.

  • My toughts...HWO THE FUCK IS MY FAVOURITE<THEY BOTH USE RYU AND THEY BOTH ARE THE BEST,i didnt know on whose side to be...and the finish..nice

  • @Catalinutz212 pls explain to me what you call "the best" and how two persons can be THE best at once ?.?

  • @soesoesoe Check your local dictionary store! :D

  • god I love watching high level play!!

  • Daigo's reaction at 1:07 is godlike

  • i like how daigo finished him off clutchly

  • many people like poongko's longer string combo's, but the damage scaling pretty much makes it the same as a simple HP+shoryuken. just do whats simple, yet effective yah?

  • poongko needs to learn some efing defense if he was better at defense his offense would just come naturally and hes very efficient in his offense.

  • It'd fucking SUCK if justin wong was champ, the obnoxious little bastard >.>

  • Wait.. Who won? Was it Poongko?

  • @pen15l4nd thats not even a question, off course Daigo won

  • @iScarUx

Oh lol.. I didnt watch the us national championship so i didnt know..

  • @pen15l4nd lol, i just guessed, since he walked away all cool lol.

  • Can any Ryu players tell me if 3:11 was an option-select tatsu, or did Daigo predict a backdash? Thanks in advance.

  • @AcrossandOver

I think it was an option select, because he did the tatsu as soon as he hit the ground.

  • @AcrossandOver i think he predicted an action like fireball, focus ..etc . He knows poongko doesn t anything, only this action type

  • thumbs up if daigo is the best in the world

  • Love how Daigo respects his oppenents before and after a really good game.

Unfortunately can't say the same for some people who just dance obnoxiously in your face. *cough*jwong*cough*

  • @homie8333 haha why i knew BEFORE i read you sentence till end that you mean justin wong xD

  • Comment removed

  • did poongko just bow.. 4:58

  • @kidax123 its a sign of respect. im sure daigo said something like gg to poongko before he bowed or sth.

  • For everyone discussing Fireball Spamming:

I agree that the players should use, even abuse, whatever tactics are effective. I don't blame the players for doing what works, but I do blame the game and the game designers for making it effective in the first place. Capcom could have easily made fireball spamming not be the dominant strategy. Capcom is great, but they are not infallable. They can be accused of bad game design like anyone else.

  • @SouthpawHare Well, zoning is a crucial part of street fighter and any other 2d game. so this is not bad game design.

  • @MarklarRavencrest Spacing is important, of course, but the game could have been made and balanced differently, such that hadouken wasn't as powerful of a spacing tool, if Capcom wanted that. I'm just saying that what the dominant strategy is didn't have to be that way, based on what the developers did.

  • @SouthpawHare It's not spamming. Its more of building meter and spacing.

  • pretty good, but they use and abuse the fireballs alittle too much in my opinion. lol.

  • @jambosmokey called zoning buddy. its the way it is.

  • @Coalition24621

you obviously don't understand zoning or any other parts of competitive street fighter

    #getgood

  • wow. poongko nearly got CLUTCHED in that second round...

  • poongko screwed up big on that last round when he did little damage in comparison to what he could have when daigo missed his ex shoryuken

    great match though, favorited.

  • Poongko: "SF4 is srs fukken biznizz."

    Daigo: "This is fun."

  • @gayve no he did not

  • diago won

but i like poongo styles more better combos

  • did Daigo loose just now? O_O

  • Someone tell the commentator to shut the hell up.

  • daigo made poongko look like a child.

  • i dont know why some people bitch about Daigo`s spamming of fireballs, if you think you can the best sf gamers by spamming, why dont you go try and win something tournaments?

  • @rividizd I voted you down based on your shit grammar and the fact that Daigo does spam. You'd be crying foul if he spammed with Sagat but since it's Ryu all is forgiven.

  • @Doomthinkingman Spamming is continuosly using moves without thinking about consequences, tactics, somtimes doing them by accident and not bothering what the outcome will be. Now I would like to see you try and tactically use hadokens to win a match. I gurantee you won't be able to do it. You don't aquire the title ''Grandmaster'' because you choose a certain character. If your good with a character your good with them, period.

  • Daigo is too good.

  • WTH? You play to win. Period.

  • exactly. if you wanna play competitively you forget what scrubs in the crowd will think of your tactics. a win's a win and that's why you compete.

  • If the Korean was better then why didn't he win?

  • @InsertSh33p he had sand in his eye duhhh. XD

  • cuz the korean was waiting for u to show him how to play, man!! go beat daigo for me plz!!!!

  • Sportsmanship is giving it your all and then respecting the other player whether you win or lose.

If both players can do it (especially since both are Ryu), then there's nothing wrong with turtling and fireball zoning.

  • man i didnt even know you canex fireball fadc ultra until daigo showed it here

  • From 3:26 to 3:34, you can totally tell that daigo was waiting for a fireball.

  • was the winning combo an EX fireball FADC? or can you reg.dash after EX fireball?

  • FADC, you have to watch fairly closely and you can see the flash. Very very fast reflexes!

    Kei

  • fadc... look at his gauge he used 3 in total

  • FADC

  • ex fireball fadc ultra, pretty sexy LOL

  • if it was kof 11 poongko would have won

  • lol well, you got us there.

  • well too bad it's SFIV ain't it

  • dumbest comment ever... completely irrelevant since daigo DOESN'T play kof11

  • daigo is a beast without a doubt the best ryu in the world

  • you think poongko has effective play when daigo beat him 5-1? thats a very consistent lead, and poongko is very readable openings, and lacks heavily on defense and patience where daigo excels. trust me hes got some work to do if he wants to beat players like him. not that he isn't on his level but watch him play a good chun or guile player, he struggles a lot

  • close your eyes while this vid plays. It sounds like the most epic school fight ever with the most pumped up crowd. xD

  • I just love the fact that Daigo doesn't show his frustration/excitement during a match at all, even after playing at a level like this. It shows his patience and professionalism. On the other hand you have players like Justin Wong, (seriously, that move he did by taking his hands up when he hit Poongko with Rufu's Ultra was kinda lame).

  • how does that make sense? haha

sorry i love poongko and daigo but poongko has more openings then daigo did in those games, daigo mad sure things would land. Anyways there both out of my league haha.

  • obviously not if he lost against everyone in the finals.

  • when u say effective...u meant flashy

    poongko all about being flashy

  • and that is why Poongko lost??? LOL! Effectiveness Failed!

  • 1:01 wooooow.

  • They should be frustrated by having to play with that horrible american voice

  • poongko's ryu got some mad combos

  • Is Poongko a korean or japanese player?

  • Korean.

  • the best ryu vs ryu match you will ever see... their styles differ so much and they both have complete control over ryu... amazing.

  • DAIGO VS CHUCK NORRIS. 2012. which is what causes the end of the world.

  • Great matchup, but it seemed neither player really capitalised on the knockdown mixup game, bar a couple of crossup attemps and SRK baits.

Is that out of respect for the ability of each other, or some other reason?

Let me know. I'm really trying to get better at understanding SF at a pro level.

  • i dont really think it was out of respect. i think at the highest level like that, they wouldn't do certain knockdown mixups in ryu dittos. they took cautions when attacking but very precise.

  • commentator, " OH,OH,OH THIS, THAT"

  • no he won dummy... and its lose...not lost Lol

  • what a dumbass!!!

  • Holy crap the EX fireball FADC to ultra was epic.

  • This is the epitome of SF4. Great match.

  • snapplez I agree with you. I have played the game for months and I still suck when playing online.

  • wish Seth would stop saying "Ooohhh... OOOOH" he fucking sucks as a commentator

  • that's not seth...lol.

  • Ski's the commentator.

  • well, he sucks being one

  • @rydendm that's not seth talking, so he did stop

  • @rydendm no he doesn't...

  • Daigo could have swept the match if he had done any other jump in combo at the end of round 2.

  • worst commentator

  • the commentator needs to STFU!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Isn't it kinda sad that a person will play 24/7, no food, no bathroom breaks, no pay, no girlfriend, lol, etc. and still can't beat daigo! Man that sucks! Proof that genetics plays a great part in gaming skills. Any comments? Complaints? Agree? Disagree?

  • Well i mean daigo did play A LOT of the other street fighter games so its not like he just picked up the controller and raped

  • well...

i dont think it has anything to do with genetics... Street fighter is all about thinking. i mean, daigo plays quite abit and has been a top SF player in Japan since ST. Daigo just knows SF.

  • shut the fuck up pig

  • games and genetics are totally different things. Practice makes perfect. And that's what Daigo's been doing..

  • Well, even Justin Wong admits genetics plays a part. If you think of it like how some ppl are just more gifted at lets say music or art, etc.

  • The difference is that if 2 ppl practice exactly the same hrs and the same way, the better player goes to a genetic predesposition for hand/eye/reflex coordination.

  • Trust me on this one . . .I'm a bio major . ..lol

  • lol......

  • Genetics have nothing to do with it dude....

  • Actually they do. Practice can over come it if you put your mind to it, but it's the same reason not eveyone can play sports well. Some people have faster reflexes, brain activity, and visual recognition. If you understand the game and practice enough it won't matter, but genetically some people do have advantages. Just as some aren't as smart as others, some aren't as athletic. However they can be overcome if you can teach yourself to not let it hold you back.

  • @transky13 dat some good staff men props to you men

  • @transky13

Street Fighter = srs bsns.. =_="

  • I think that Poongko is very good and can reach the Japanese level of play if he works on his strategy of aggressive attacks and then turtling. He seems to always be one step behind his opponent's strat. game. He also just attacks. . . attacks and guess randomly at times. You just can't afford to guess. (Don't try to be Daigo) You will be punished. Love his combo skills though

    !

  • all those hadoukens poongko was eating at the beginning of round 4 was stupid, almost half his health gone off that shit and a sweep.

  • the guy commenting is more anoying the one in the fking game lol

whats the point of that when we have a cinema screen projector, i dont think anyone there was blind lol

  • Solid play by Daigo!

  • Daigo could have just light uppercut --> super at 2:00 instead of blowing 3 bars to fadc ex fireball

  • maybe he wanted to keep at least 1 EX bar. Sometimes it can save your life.

  • laugh beat poongko at SBO preliminary and he lost his first match at SBO. poongko also lost first match at SBO day preliminary.

poongko's level is just randum japanese.

    what is your opinion,seekerjet?haha

  • this is wut i wanted to see.. good match up.

  • poongko is great but he made too many mistakes

he got punish for too many tatsu's and air tatsus like around 3:10 and the end of the third round

  • Poongko seems like a very good player, lots of potential. He just ran a little bit out of ideas after the second round. For some time, that is.

  • ROFL!

its funny the way they sit there staring at the screen once the match is over. they were probably waiting for the other person to move first.

  • mago.momochi.daigo.nuki.shirou.ojisan.dragon boy.RF.ino.nemo. can defeat poonkgo and justin easily. they should invite more japanese players.dont u think?

  • Both we're good why are you guys comparing on who's better.

  • im not pro or anything but it seems like poongko uses too much of absorb focus attack and too much random attacks as anticipation. daigo doesn't seem to do much of those. maybe that's one reason why daigo is better.

  • insane

  • That EX fireball followed by an ultra is very hard to do!

  • wtf.

    thats so easy

do the trials and youll see.

  • 1:00 OMGBBQSUACE

  • At least Poongko was more of a challenge for Daigo. Justin didn't even win one round against him, still don't know how he even beat Poongko.

  • Rufus vs ryu is a hard match for rufus, let alone diagos ryu.

  • because winning doesnt neessarily mean better. because matchups are different for each player. because of skill level and differences with each player. because people make mistakes and isnt familiar with another persons style. many reasons. this isnt if A>B and B>C, then A>C

  • Then what is the definition of skill? Beating someone because you have played them a billion times and so can adapt.

You get one chance and if you dont win because you cant handle the pressure or someones play style it means you are not good enough to start with.

  • overall better player who adapts to playstyles, different characters, knowledge of game, utilizing a characters potential, footsies, links, combos, etc, etc.

there are plenty of tournaments and even the best lose to some 'random' player. so your last sentence is totally off and wrong.

  • Just so you know we're making the same point here. What you just said is what you should have said originally. You missed out "mind games" as well. Predicting opponents moves especially puts them off their stride.

  • i agree that one bout does not make one player better than the other, however, the one with the most consistent wins is clearly the better player. being able to adapt is also very important . Poongko's style was unique to Daigo (mind you Daigo also extracted some of Poongko's style in more recent matches) but Daigo still adapted and defeated him

  • @Panda

You don't always have 2 EX Bars, do ya?

  • In almost every round, Poongko had a setup to FADC into ultra and didn't do it, whereas Daigo almost always did. (Watching this as I type, Poongko had the win in the 5th if he only FADC'd out of that last SRK. He doesn't--and then Daigo nails him about 10 seconds later.)
