The reason so many people were killed is because Australia made a deal with PNG to set up the mine to profit itself and PNG. No money was staying in B'Ville! Bougainvillians are the only native people to shut down an international mining operation. B'Ville is still trying to get indepencence from PNG. The white soldiers did not help at first. There is footage of white soldiers flying helicopters with mounted guns for the PNG forces.

My film celebrates the extroadinary achievement of rebel factions, women's groups & community leaders to work with their enemies to create lasting peace. My film is not political. I do not pretend to know who was right and who was wrong. As for 'white' soldiers in choppers, many terrible things happened during those years that can't be taken back, including Bougainvillians killing their own brothers. The true power of Bougainvillians is their capacity for reconciliation.
