Barr, you make me sick! You called for Clinton's impeachment before you got busted by Larry Flynt for the same damn thing you accused Clinton! When is the Lib party going to stop housing rejects from the Democrat & Republican parties and find a real candidate that can win? Who's next to join, John Edwards?? Sen.Mike Gravel should have won the nomination. It is disgusting that Barr became the nominee and this is why no one takes the 3rd party seriously anymore!
I certainly like him more with McCain but i'm not shure hes better than obama. I think the problem with his campaign is that hes not on commercials. if people would spend time researching all the candidates this guy could win, but they don't. He's got my vote though.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'll be able to vote this year due to issues with my driver's license. (It's a long story.) But if I do vote, Bob Barr is the one who will get my vote! But whether I'll be able to vote or not, I've been spreading the word and raising awareness about Bob Barr, raising awareness that the "two party system" is a delusion, and raising awareness that those two parties are responsible for corrupting our government and making it bigger.
I'm going to try it then. I am still registered in this state, I think. (?) I voted in the '00 presidential election and the '02 governor election. But then moved away in '04 and came back a couple of months ago. I do believe I am still registered here though. My license is out of state and a copy of my birth certificate is lost and have to send off for another one from a totally different state. I don't know how long that will take. (I moved around a bunch my whole life.) So, I hope I can vote.
Anyone in NY conflicted about voting for Barr or Baldwin - Baldwin is a write-in candidate and your vote will not be counted. The only way that you can send a message is to vote for Barr.
You know at first I wasn't going to vote because I hate Obama and McCain pretty much equally. Both are going to mess our country up even more. However I am going to vote for Bob Barr in the next election because until we get rid of our two current party systems the US will keep getting more and more crappier.
Mr. Barr, I fully appreciate you're hard work here and wish you the best of luck in this election. So with all due respect I'd recommend that in these videos you at least have a boom or lapel microphone. Such a small item makes huge differences, as well as a much greater impact on the audience, when trying to address such important issues.
Your vote for Libertarian Presidential candidate Bob Barr is guaranteed to improve America's future! If he gets at least 5% of the popular vote in this year's election, his party's Presidential campaign in 2012 can receive millions of dollars in voluntary taxpayer funds. It will also automatically qualify to be on state ballots, thereby avoiding long and costly signature petition drives. So do the 'most patriotic good' with your vote, help America build a 3rd major political party!!!
And yet, 3rd parties still won't be allowed to participate in the debates. Ross Perot got 20%!!!! and they banned him next time around. SCREW THIS SYSTEM!!!
To all Libertarians and Bob Barr supporters; I have been a registered Libertarian since I was old enough to vote, and applaud everything the party stands for. But recently I've been gravitating towards a man by the name of Ron Paul. His ideals and determination have gained my trust and I fully believe in him. He has officially endorsed Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin, so I implore you, bring the third parties together and cast your vote for Chuck Baldwin! Support the Revolution! ;)
There's way too much religious nonsense in the Constitution Party platform. The Libertarian Party will maintain the tradition of separation of church and state. Vote Libertarian!
Well Barr is more well known now a days since Ron Paul has dropped out...I like Chuck Baldwin and Ron Paul alot but I think they are to radical and I am voting Barr.
I would agree with you on Baldwin...reading the first paragraph of the Constitution Party platform scares me off - all I see there is evangelism with a libertarian leaning; its an interpretation of the Constitution, not the word of the Constitution. The Libertarians and Ron Paul seem pretty much in line as far as policies go.
I like his presentation here, and I liked the position on the Bailout he gave to CNN. There's a book out now called, I think, "Doctrine of Fear" (It was on the Colbert Report) that echoes what he said about the government using alarming situations like this "credit crunch" like Katrina to pass extreme legislation and rulings. Eventually even some of the ones that hold out are either bought over or they see "-777 points on the DOW" and panic. Its a problem that needs fixing.
Some legislation needs to be passed so more than just 2 parties can join in as candidates without having to go through all the mess Bob Barr has to do to get on ballots and into debates.
He just strikes me as too slippery, like a shyster lawyer. I don't know if I'd trust him to really have changed all that much from his days as a Republican cultural warrior.
Indeed! Now let's be real. How many voters do you think have even heard of Ayn Rand, much less read her works. Bob Barr is great, and going way over the average American's head.
Im suprised to see so many people that actually hate her. Her books are basicly about the individual againt the collectvist society. One of her quotes is "The individual is the fundemental truth toward the nature of mankind." If the individual rights are restored, everybodys rights are restored.
If you're new to Ayn Rand,or don't like her cause of Atlas Shrugged, read Anthem. It is the story of a man who dares to be an individual in a society of which the government takes control after some kind of disaster. The word "I" is not used, and if it is uttered, the speaker will be burned at the stake. In this society only the collective matters. The hero discovers electricity, but since the rest of society doesn't know about it, he is jailed for thinking for himself. It is very short.
He actively advanced & was a component of the effort to make sure that medical marijuana's federal ban would preservere that the legislation is called the Barr Amendment.
If there was a candidate that came out as a huge gun rights advocate and partly based his campaign around it & announced his New views on it just a few months after being nominated, then you found out that the national handgun ban is NAMED after him would you believe the guy
I think Barr still believes that all the things he fought against are wrong. He has just realized that legislating morality does not work. He has tried it. I think that makes his point more legitimate, because he can say: Even though i believe this to be immoral, the gov has no right to make you stop if you aren't hurting anyone. As for the patriot act, if Barr hadn't put the sunset clauses in it, it would be permanent. It was going to pass no matter what, cause people were scared.
1 barr still had the option of voting AGAINST the patriot act instead of voting for a different version of it.
2 barr saying that drugs are immoral still isn't the same thing as saying that he believes that people should be able to decide for themselves - it's like mccain objecting to the execution of the iraq war instead of the reasons we went to war - he's only anti- war on drugs because he saw how badly it failed to control the public & protect them from the dangers of marijuana in hos words
he's only anti war on drugs because he saw how badly it failed to control the public and protect them from the dangers of marijuana in his words.
That's what I was getting at. To your non drug user, who we have to target to get legalization, that is a more valid point than the one you and I agree on: individual rights. As for the patriot act, I think you're right, he shouldn't have voted for it. But if he wasn't onboard would his clause have gone in it? Do you know?
The number one person we have to target to get legalization, prior to his presidential campaign, is Barr, who has LED movements to defeat medical marijuana legalization at every chance.
The sunset clause would have gone in without him, and the patriot act would have had one less "yes" vote without him.
He's no longer a supporter of the war on drugs. He voted for the Patriot Act to be TEMPORARY but President Bush believes he can do whatever he wants. It's time to elect Bob Barr and undo the damage.
The anti-patriot act movement was led by the likes of the ACLU and Dennis Kucinich who were against it from the beginning, as well as the war on drugs when Barr was one of the leading anti-drug fascists. Not to mention the long list of other things, like the Wicca in the military ban - which the ACLU was also against
The ban on Wicca in the U.S. Military would have been ignored by those practicing if it had been past. Simply put Bob Barr happens to hate Wicca but he would not push for a Christian Nation. As I mentioned before the Patriot Act was supposed to be temporary and that was Bob Barr's intent at the time he voted for it.
WHAT?!?! I like Bob Barr's stances, and it wouldn't effect whether I would vote for him or not, but did he just call Ayn Rand one of the great philosophers of our time? Ethical Egotism? Really?
Unfortunately there are alot of people in America who don't care about their fourth amendment rights unless they are personally a victim of this policy. They trust the government and think there's no way the government would violate THEIR right to privacy; the government only spies on the bad guys, right....? And they're just getting started.
Man it sucks that the republicans and demarcates are trying to stop you from winning. It is a shame that the best guy for the White House is not on every state.
