  • You've helped me with my fan film of Friday the 13th. I'll send you a trailer.

  • @MrDarknessForever Awesome, please do! We like to post videos by Videomaker fans to our Facebook page (with full credit to you, of course) to help get them a little more exposure. Let us know if it would be cool to do that when you've got it finished.

    Best,

    The Videomaker Team

  • @videomaker Lol. Your video's really helping me with my new film. it's a psychological thriller, sort of like 'Shutter Island'. I'll post the trailer as a response in a few months.

  • @dividebyNERO Sounds exciting! Please do let us know when you have a trailer; we'd be interested to see how you use some of these techniques.

    Cheers,

    The Videomaker Team

  • You'd think they could spell 'antagonist' correctly.

  • @dividebyNERO Oops! Well, no one's perfect XD

    Cheers,

  • evil dead 2 ftw

  • Great informative tutorial - keep up the great work.

  • This summer I'll be shooting a horror movie about a popular girl who after an accident becomes disfigured and because of this is abandoned by her friends and dumped by her boyfriend causing her to snap. How do you suggest the murders should play out? This will be a independent movie with only 3 deaths so I have a low budget but need to have gruesome and scary deaths. Any ideas are welcome, thank you.

  • @freddykrugersbride

Rule 1) Gore doesn't equal scary. Many times, if you plan to make some torture scenes, they require lots of make-up and you have to take lots of safety precautions.

Rule 2) What you don't see is usually scarier, like the shark in Jaws only shows up in the last 30 min. or so.

Rule 3) Throw in some taboo. This will add a feeling of uncertiancy to the viewer and will stay in their mind longer.

a good death, i think, could follow the morale of "An eye for an eye."

  • i think the clip without sond was better

  • I really liked your video! The colours were really impressive and the sound had a lot of layers. I'd like to know how you colour corrected it like that!

  • Thanks for another great tutorial. The 'Lead - Nose Room' thing is surprisingly effective but unfortunately overused to the point that the viewers now actually anticipate the 'surprise' that would pop up when the camera moves.

Another perfect point you make is about - Audio.

Thanks. It was another great watch.

    5/5

  • Great video! I love all your videos and they're really helpful. I'll keep the camera angle tricks in mind.

Also, it might just be me, but in the last clip I thought the first track was a little more scary because it was subtle and suspenseful.

  • Did you use sony cinescore for the music for the last scene?

  • @Lightscamerafailure VideoHelper is what they used I believe. But it seems to be an interesting mixture of a ton of different pieces to create the one they used

  • WOW IMPRESIVE INTRO

  • where do you get these soundtracks

  • Excellent!

  • very awesome--- i learned a lot and this video made me a better videomaker and i am very happy about that!!!!

  • were can i get god audio sound effects like in this for free

  • Great video guys! Really enjoyed this one.

  • very impressive 5/5*

  • dude ur better than my genre teacher

  • You should have added the sound of the girl breathing, that would have been scary too.

  • Thank you again for another great lesson!

  • i like the music at the end example

  • wow at 1:07 its that movie um what is it called

    paranormal activity

  • Wow, I was expecting cheesy stuff. Well done!

  • awesome.....very nice got scared :D

  • best one yet!

  • Now this! Is what I'm talking about great job guys! 5*'s

  • Nice timing. We actually started a horror series this week, check it out!

  • Brilliant advice! Maybe making video tutorials for other genres would be just as awesome.

  • Oh my, this was scary. Nice tips, can be implemented in other scenarios as well, e.g. music videos. Thanks for sharing.

  • one of your better ones. I'd like to see more on this level. Worth Watching for sure.

  • very help full

  • @pkrska I KNEW IT!!!

  • BRAVO!!! Very well done guys!!!

  • Nice job! That was some good information and great tips for shooting horror.

  • Very good

  • good video, you should continue making videos on how to shoot for different genre styles

  • your videos are getting better- good work on this one

  • awesome!

  • i have been waitin for this forever. do more horror stuff please.

  • That's so cute ;)

  • Now I get why so many people start in the horror genre. Not only is it fun, but it's a lot easier to shoot on a budget with those kind of angles and grainy poorly lit look.

  • nice vid :D

    love the camera :X)

  • The example was super cheesy but this was a good basic info. :)

  • You would think for a long term YouTube channel that make video about making videos they could sort out the quality. It is not that hard to do.

  • @jameslawsonsmith It's what @FlyHighRC386 said. It was just posted, so the video is still processing. It's already better 10 minutes after I first viewed it.

  • HD versions of all our videos are posted on our website. Cheers.

  • @jameslawsonsmith they have high res on their site. They mention this 1000 times, people never listen do they?

  • Thie is a Horrible quality video, but good information

  • @Films4You its proessing man.

  • yeah noob

  • and you're that much better? nice channel you got. they're not trying to make a very professional video..just something quick..thats all informational videos have to be
