Axl was a huge reason why the band got so famous, he has the right to keep the name and use all of it's advantages because he is the last man standing. Sure, what he did to keep the name wasn't exactly the best way but Duff was just an alcoholic and Slash a drug addict to take the name away from them was actually very smart. About chinese democracy I actually love a lot of songs of the album so that's your opinion.

And, sure the name represents a lot but it doesn't really help that much so people should stop thinking is such a big deal... GnR barely reach 8000 people when they play at the USA and that's because narrow-minded people don't even want to give a chance to the "new" lineup and they're very good musicians. Now, anywhere else GnR still gather a lot of people and why is that? because a lot of them don't really care who's playing the guitar, or the drums they all just want Axl.

@DrinkitKatie84 Axl is the voice of Guns N'Roses, i will admit you cant have it without his voice. but also, when Guns fell apart Duff was alreadydone with alcohol because his pancreas exploaded. also the point of taking away the name because of their habbits is irelevant, the name itself does not take over the finacial aspects of the Band, this was done by an outside party. also Axl was drunk most of the time during the UYI tour and AFD tour, he just stoped using hard drugs.

@DrinkitKatie84 also in 1996, The original Guns N'Roses was disbanded by Axl with him taking the name, at the same time (i mean at the EXACT same time) Axl created a new Guns N'Roses, and put everyone but him on salary and contract, giving him finally full absolute control of the band, which he still has to this day. the other members of the nee 'line up' are not really members, but more of employes of Axl, despite what you may initaly see, this does not mean however that they do not enjoy it.

@DrinkitKatie84 Finally, the classic line up and UYI line ups where the best of GN'R, and much better than the new line up, both talent wise and on stage charisma wise. and also it wasnt just axl who got them famous. it was a combination of Izzys abillity to write (Izzy actully wrote several main parts to their best songs which Axl then polished up) Axls voice, and writing. and Slash's Talent and riffs and memorable solos. as well as the bands overall image.

Of course I know Izzy wrote a lot of music, I like his music far better than anything Slash came up with but I love even more songs like Breakdown or Dead Horse. What I meant with Axl is that as scandalous as he was that's what got a lot of attention you either hated him or love him.

Slash made up the mind sticking. history book worthy riff. and Axls was inspired by Slash's playing to write the lyrics. the song's best part is the solo, and Axl himself has stated thats his favourite part of the song. Oh yes, I'm aware Axl loves that riff he even got mad when in some stations they cut that part off, even though I must say I just don't like Sweet child o mine. For me Slash is very overrated he's a good guitarist with style and the "original" so for that I respect him a lot but Buckethead was far better than him, until he left GnR =( but DJ Ashba has a lot to offer with an impressive resume too.

@DrinkitKatie84 DJ abhba I think dresses kinda like Slash in a way, and a lot of the way he plays with GN'R, compared to his playing in Sixxam (i think thats what its called :P) its sorta sticks out when hes playing with GN'R that hes trying to emulate Slash, just a tad. and in my personal opinon, Buckethead is garbage, all technical and no soul, thats what made Slash, he isnt a shredder, hes a blues style Hard rock guitarist. his playing has a lot more soul and character. also u cant really

GN'R wasnt really just the name, it was the image. it was always Axl Slash, the face of GN'R, so when Axl emerged with new Guns it sounded different, looked different, and in reality was not Guns N'Roses, but a different band using the name.

Ashba is really great, he's like a development of slash, like a weird cool remix. Slash was getting boring at the end, always sounded kinda the same. This guy knows how to play in many ways and has more charisma. And there is always Ron Thal in the background making the guitar even more exciting! What a great combo. Slash is a legend. But also has been when it comes to innovation.
