  • Astonishing interpretation. Thanks to share this.

    Asombrosa interpretación. Gracias por compartirlo.

  • Thanks Mike. You play the guitar almost Steve Howe. Beatiful. Very Well.

  • The best 6 minutes of my life!

  • @huaso97

Thanks very much!! I enjoyed playing it (and I'm, glad there are others out there that "remember"...)

  • thank you!!!!!

  • Very sweet.! Thank you

  • Thanks very much for your nice words!

  • beautiful Mike thank you so much for posting this......my favorite Yes....beautifully performed.

  • @watsuoasis

Thanks very much for your nice words!

  • excellent sir!

  • you reminds me Paul McCartney, the way you look and move your head!

  • i always end up here to listen to this and try tp pick up a bit here and there. very inspiring thank you!!!

  • I am pretty sure that the best album I have ever heard is tales from topographic oceans. Regards with possibility of the the joy of sharing the same opinion. So it is definitely a great medley.

  • Thanks Mike! This is excellent. Great music and I love the way you put this together. I am trying to tackle Mood for a Day. LIke some of the others on this post I am a tab guy but hope some day to tackle The Ancient.

  • Brilliant!!!!

  • One of the guitar magazines did a transcription of Steve's medley of "Tales" that he performed live...i have it buried in one of the boxes i need to sort through yet...

  • Such a wonderful rendition of some of the greatest "popular" music ever written. You made me think I was listening to Steve himself. I will listen to this again and again over the coming years. Great memories.

  • Very nice job, very nice! You'd probably agree that at times it was a little fast, but to criticise you for that would be churlish. I've linked this to my Facebook after having searched for the original work. The album has come to visit me again after a brief time away. What an outstanding piece of work it is. Highly under-rated. Once again, good job and thanks for sharing.

  • Way to go!! REEEELY LOVE THIS MEDLEY!!!

    Thanks a million!!

  • well done Mike. super !

  • FANTASTIC , well played , but.....a little too fast , you do great justice to the original but us viewers who love the original like it the way it was writtten , just a little slower like Steve intended it - Thanks

  • Great playing !

It´s great to see that there still are people who like this wonderful music...

  • @grahamccollins

    Hi Graham --

Thanks very much for the very nice words. Sorry to say, there is no Tab, or sheet music (that I know of, at least) -- I figured this out by ear, so there's nothing written down I can send you. It's always nice to get comments like yours, because it tells me I'm not the only person in the world that loves this music!

    Take care, - Mike.

  • Very nice Mike !!! Wow man !!

  • Thank you so much, you can't imagine how many people are still loving music of this time, and you play as well as steve, so it's a real pleasure to listen to you. This music will never die. *****

  • @Galileo258

Just replied to your comments on my "Shine On" video. Again, many thanks -- and though it's very kind of you to say so, I WISH I played anywhere near as well Steve! I've tried to imitate him (learned stuff by ear), as I've tried to get Gilmour's "feel" in my other video. I'll be posting new stuff soon (probably some Genesis/Hackett, and other things). Thanks again!!

  • @colorfulworks

    Great news !

    I stay tuned :)

  • Very very nice. Clean playing and sound. Steve Howe would be proud of this!

  • REally cool arrangement !! Congratulations!!

  • great medley...what guitar do you have?

  • If you hadn't shown your face on the video, I would say it was Steve Howe playing.

  • Wow! You are a truly great talent thank you for posting this, bravo!

I look forward to hearing more.

  • You just put an unexpected smile on my face! My turntable`s out of commission so I haven`t heard these themes for a while.

    Thank-you sir!!

  • Great music. Thanks!

  • Mike... this is a lovely arrangement very well played. Thank you.

  • Very very nice. Thanks!

  • Outstanding. The best music ever created.

  • excellent work, not expecting to find something so good this cold Sunday gray... but you put me in a good mood with this music, wherever it is you I thank you for sharing your video

  • simply amazing. i really loved what you did with the singing part from "the ancient". stunning. thank you :)

  • Thank you! This really was fun piece to do. I plan to post more videos, as soon as time allows (and when I can get my son to be there to work the camcorder...!) Thanks again.

  • excellent guitar playing and medley! I hope Steve Howe hears your beautiful tribute!

  • OMG ITS PAUL MCARTNEY!

  • I know and love this song...the tendency is to rush many of the parts...great playing of course, but hopefully criticism is always welcomed!

  • Wonderful- the best of the best parts...

  • Thanks to everyone who has posted comments -- I plan to upload more videos soon (have to find a day that combines me having practiced a little, and my son being available to run the camcorder...). Thanks again to everyone for your nice reviews!

  • great guitarist !

  • Really wonderful!!

  • jaysus....very great..the ending to the Ancient slew me

  • im 16 and i LOVE yes music, i find it so genius and thought provoking!

  • check out my cover of close 2 the edge

  • haha i see you comment in almost all YES videos.

    cya

  • Very nice!!!

  • Amazing great...bravo bravo..

  • Beautiful. Absolutely Beautiful!

  • the first time I tried mushrooms, I was in a bedroom with my best friend having an awful trip. After listening to the first and second sides of "Tales," I then had the best trip in my life.

  • To everyone who's posted comments recently, THANK YOU! Really nice to hear that I'm not the only one who remembers "those days". I've now missed seeing Yes twice in a row due to ailments (missed them last time at Red Rocks in Denver due to Anderson's health, and missed "Yes-lite" this time due to Squire's leg...!). Maybe later this year...?? Thanks again for all your nice comments -- much appreciated. - Mike.

  • Yeah, I missed their tour too, bummer. Hopefully Jon and Chris feel better soon!

AMAZING job on the "Tales" medley. A superb tribute to the greatest musical accomplishment in modern times.

  • Not only very very very close to the great Howe but with some very interesting twist. Well done guy, wish I was as good as u.

  • WHAT! This is great, by far my favorite Yes album!

  • Man, I used to love getting stoned and listening to this album, hehe. Was glad to hear part of The Remembering, I think it may be my favorite piece of music. Would have liked to hear the "Don the cap and close your eyes" section though!

  • "tales" is the BEST mushroom album EVER!!!

  • Mike, great arrangement of this amazing Yes masterpiece. Question: have you prepared tabs of this arrangement and would you be willing to share those tabs with others. For a nominal fee, of course.

  • Hi -- and thanks very much for the nice words. No, I have not created a Tab for this; I basically learn - and play - by ear, so this is just in my head. I loosely based the arrangement on something similar that Steve Howe did on his "Not Necessarily Acoustic" CD (if you don't have this album, you must get it -- it's awesome). Thanks again, Mike.

  • That's great...

  • Very nice. Awesome tribute. I'm glad other people in the world are touched by this music which has always meant so much to me.

  • You, sir, are a God of acoustic guitar!

  • Glad you liked it! Pls. feel free to check out other video postings -- search under "Mike Riesco". Thanks very much for your kind words.

    Mike.

  • Very nice.

  • Beautiful rendition of an underrated masterpiece -- underrated even by the band itself! Thanks for appreciating and expressing one of the great musical offerings ever.

  • I love this so very much.

  • Bravo colorfulworks! 5*

  • The piece from Ritual at the end is beyond words, but I'll try with 'awesome', 'incredible' and 'very pleasing'.

Also I think you look very peaceful, sincere and in equilibrium with yourself when you play.

  • Thanks very much! I appreciate your nice comments -- glad you liked the arrangement... - Mike.

  • nice oneee

  • Nicely done!

  • WOW! Tales from topographic oceans is a pretty good cd one of my favourite . But this is genius! just some part are too fast. We know you can play fast!

  • Dude, that was spectacular. Steve would be proud and impressed. Just slow it down a bit. A few of the excerpts you were flying thru too fast.

  • A gem! A deep immersion into the soul of music which has haunted me for decades. Then, a return with an interpretation which adds even more beauty to the beauty of Mr. Howe's creation. Thank you so much. (i could only hope to play this as you have, and I'm sure tabulature is not the way)

  • Thanks very much for the nice comments!! You're right that this was not Tabbed -- I came up with the arrangement myself (self-taught on guitar). I did base the arrangement on what Maestro Howe does on his "Not Necessarily Acoustic" CD. Thanks again!

    Mike.

  • Love Tales :-) Nicely played !!

Come have a listen to CIRCA: if you have not already.

    Cheers, Billy

  • If this is the Billy I think it is, THANKS!! And I have already checked out Circa music and various sites -- great job -- I love it. Any collaborative opportunities possible? I'm a lifetime Yesfan (and all things related), and any chance to work together would be, well...!!! Pls. let me know...

    Mike.

  • you rock it out HARD sir!

  • Beautiful... absolutely beautiful work. Tales is probably my favorite album of all time, and you did an excellent job of arranging this (and playing it) great work. Wonderful work.

  • thx for uploading very inspirational steve would need a few cups of java to keep up with ya lol

  • Very nice, if I could play worth a crap this is what I would want to play.

  • Good Ear!

Maybeif you have time could you walk thru it and post that video . I know thats asking alot but i belive there would be a great interst in that .. thanks Again!

  • Any Tabs for all these sections? Know where I could find them?

  • Also, I have to say, well done. I can hear those guitar parts distinctly in my mind after listening to the album.

  • I've been listening to this album recently, and I think it's pretty good. Not as good as their other efforts, but there are parts in each song that I just love to death. Too bad it takes so long to get to them. XD

    My favourite parts:

-Synth solo near end of "Revealing"

    -"Relayer" section of "Remembering"

-The very beginning of "The Ancient"

-The "da da da" part about two minutes or so into "Ritual"

  • Well done Sir:)

  • Very nicely done.

  • BEAUTIFUL WORK! And has anybody told you you look like Paul Mccartney?

    Peace & Love

  • BRAVO MAESTRO!!

  • Great Job! Thanks for that!!!

  • SIMPLESMENTE FANTÁSTICO!!!

  • Dear Mike,

I would like to post this wonderful work on my site. Back in the '70's, I was the only one who listened to T. Oceans among my friends. They were kind enough to listen over some drinks.

Topographic was light years ahead of its time.

Find me thru Google: 'Pi Thor'

    Well done!

    Greg

  • so a question. i think the way you play the song is beautiful. is it possible to send me the video so i can slow it down and try to learn your arrangement? don´t think i can do that with the youtube video.

  • Hi -- look in your "Messages" for a response to your posting. Thanks!

    Mike.

  • wonderfull talent.

  • this is great Mike, and that is because you are so relaxed when you play. There is little tension. You have great skills and I appreciate your contributions, -dave in the cuse

  • Thanks very much, Dave! I have a few other videos posted also -- you can search under Mike Riesco. Thanks again!

  • i like it very much. do have the tabs?

  • I don't have Tab -- I came up with this arrangement on my own, by ear. But there probably are tabs floating around out there for "Tales...", although those arrangements may be different from mine. I based mine on the original recording, and also Steve Howe's "mini-version" on his solo CD, "Not Necessarily Acoustic". Thanks for the comment!

  • the last part of Howe's solo in 'the giant' song seems a little to fast

  • Wonderful performance! Enviable talent! Thank you !

  • Fantastico!

  • fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing execution. I have been Yes Fan for years, I play guitar (not as good as you) so I understand the technical difficulty of this.

    Thanks for sharing

  • This is so dramatic!

  • Indeed, this is superb! It's impressive that you did this by ear. If yoú don't mind my asking, how many years have you been playing?

  • Hi -- thanks very much for your nice comments -- I've been playing over 30 years, learned all by ear. But I took classical piano lessons as a kid first, which helped a lot! Thanks again.

  • Very nice! Great job! I'm a fan of Steve Howe to, and I play one of the songs of that medley, called The Ancient.

Did you made this medley based in a tab or something? If yes can you tell me how to get the tab?

  • Hi Gil --

Thanks for the nice comments about my "Tales" Medley. I came up with this arrangement myself (no Tab, learned all by ear, like most other stuff I play). I based it loosely on a similar "Medley" found on Steve Howe's "Not Necessarily Acoustic" live CD. Thanks again!

    Mike.
