Dumbass...I used to have a Maxima. and I know you can't get a Maxima into the 9s....FWD ..weightshift =wheelspin....fastest I have ever seen a Maxima run in the 1/4 ..is mid to low 11s. Good, he just ran 11.8 @ 114 with this very car on a 50 shot. Without nitrous it runs 12.3 @ 112 so it's quite a bit faster now. He is gonns slap a 200 shot on it October this year and try for a low 11 second pass, shouldn't be hard. I'll post that video as a follow up to this one then.

Acctually they are quite to the contrary. He does over 500 passes a year on the car and over 4 years we have poped one tranny. It was during a burn out and he rolled the car out too much and it caught traction too fast stopping the wheels too quickly when he let off the gas. THat quick snap to a stop poped the diff. This was after at least 1000 trips down the 1/4 mile doing 12's on a 100hp shot of nitrous. They are pretty damn good to be honest.

Agreed. I think both cars are extremely fast and that running sub 13 second quarter miles is clear proof of that. I race my 06 Nissan Altima 3.5se at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and I rarely see cars, even fast cars like corvettes and wrx sti's, etc., ever do under 13 seconds. And if they do, usually not much under unless its a pure track car.

Guys it's not really a debate as to which engine is better. The LS1 in the Trans Am is an amazing engine, there is no denying that. My dad's maxima is just a fast car thats all. It just happens to be a race against a car that is known to be fast which makes it easier to gauge just how fast his car is. If he raced a yugo and you couldn't even see it in the picture what would be the point. Anyway no big deal, lets keep the comments light hearted and not get into a war, there is no point.

Hence why the VQ series of engines (maximas) have won NUMEROUS awards for over a decade, the VQ can take a LOT of abuse, more so than most crappy domestics can. And the corvette is advertised as a sports car...the maxima is advertised as a family car, and yes, the trans am WILL blow its motor quicker than the max, I assure you, everything in the VQ is tripple forged :-P

That's a somewhat ignorant comment, calling 12 seconds slow. A new stock GTO is now slow, it runs low 13's. If you call 12's slow, all that means is that you likely don't own a real car. There are very few 12 second or faster street cars that are daily driven.
