in order to completely understand you got to play every game or at least watch gameplay of each game in this order.....Silent Hill Origins, Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 2, and finaly Silent hill 3 (silent hill 1 and 3 is the most important) silent hill 2 can let you know what the town does to certain people thats why i include that one the other silent hill games have nothing to do with the real story (sh4 sh5)

Actually, Cheryl is Alessa's doppleganger in the movie. She's a manifestation of her "good side" while the other girl with the scary makeup("Look at me, I'm burning.") is a manifestation of her anger and hatred. At the end of the movie when adult Alessa's tearing up the cultists, Dark Alessa looks into Cheryl's eyes, and suddenly everyone except Cheryl, her mother, and Dahlia are gone. That's because Alessa's different sides joined together again in Cheryl's body.
