Oddly enough, in the book DW is based on, Cao Cao is painted as being something of an unscrupulous man. While not villainous out right, he does come of as rather dark, in many of the retellings.

Withh history, I firmly believe that a dynasty would not last for eternity. over generations there are bound to be 'genetic defects' as in that these descendants are evil and tyrants in a sense. taking liu chan and sun hao as examples.Cao Cao rules. =)

Guan Yu was nothing to history, however much to the novel and games. Guan Yu didn't play as vital a role in anything as he is portrayed in this. Cao Cao is far far far far far far far x100 far more known than guan yu shall ever be to those of us who research these things. Guan Yu's pitiful role in the wars were highly exagerated and romanticized.

and Wu + Shu had always fought Wei. Wu & Shu's unltimate surrender was inevitable.

Guan Yu is more popular because people don't need to research him even though his popularity is mainly down to his exaggerated part in these battles and features in a number of other assorted medias. He's still more well known than Cao Cao to the general population but is more known as a figure of legend or myth rather than an historical one.

sun ce died really early and sun quan didnt have the ability to expand wu land, so not until the late late part of the story does wu expand under lu meng, i think the story can be divided into 3 parts, wei or cao's along with wu and the suns expansion, then shu or liu bei's expansion, then shu's downfall while wei conquers everybody under sima yi who usurps the throne from the caos
