I know they clashed back then because of these synthesizers, but you can't deny that Eddie's synth did inspire/influence DLR a little (pun intended) for the "A little ain't enough" track on his solo 1991 album. There's a small synth solo on that track around 2:50 where it sounds EXACTLY like this song. Look it up.
@eddiehalenvan 1979-1986 was Van Halens best time period, then Sammy kinda turned them poppy, and people say that it doesn't matter they got more #1's its not about that! I have more fun playing Lee Roth Era songs on guitar than hagar! Anyway, yeah they got turned into pop, and now they're supposedly trying to make a new album with Roth!
@YodaVanGrindey95 I always laugh when I see the "Sammy changed the band" comments. Ed wanted to use the keys since '81. Re-listen to the last 2 tracks on "Fair Warning" or listen to his phone interview from 1982 and hear right from Ed himself. Ed WANTED to play keys & Dave didn't like that. It's the reason why dave quit/was fired in the 1st place. Face it Dave lovers, even if Sam never joined, the music would've turned out exactly the same. Except it would've been Dave singing "Dreams", not Sam.
@tylerdurden3891 I agree, and so many blind DLR followers try to make it a DLR versus Sammy issue.
Oddly enough, although Dave supposedly didn't want to use keyboards, he did just that in some of his songs after he left VH.
There are also those that accuse Sammy of making VH music too much like pop. Yet DLR's music after VH was a bit like pop. I remember hearing DLR after he left VH on the pop stations as much as on the rock stations, if not more so.
Was on cable last night, some of the music wasn't in. "Right Now" was in. Not sure if the "Good Enough' cue was in, and also missed if the VH piece was played when Lea is waiting for the cop. "Back to the Future' riff was almost gone. No music as Chris jumped out the window, but it played as he drove off. No music when Lea is in the car with her friend. "Mine All Mine" was replaced with a Hendrix song. "A.F.U" was in but the 1st 2 parts had a Prince song & Donut City. End credits music was in.
This is from the movie Wild Life. Played when the ending credits roll.
From Wiki discussion:
Although "Donut City" is the only track to appear on the "Wild Life" soundtrack, Eddie's playing scores several parts of the film, including a notable early appearance of the main riff from "A.F.U."
So, this is Eddie V's work. It just wasn't on the released soundtrack, but was used in the movie.
its such a shame i wasnt born in that century but my two older bros were. i always said my favorite generation was the 80's. even better than back to the future are rocky and the a-team!
My god! I hunted fucking high and low in the early 90's for anything Van Halen, rare tracks, guest appearances etc... and never realised this existed! Although I never heard any of the 'Seduction of Gina' Soundtrack. Oh well, great tune anyway!
Guess I'll try and hunt down the film on VHS now.
The creative juice of the one and only Eddie Van Halen from this period was unbearable. Obviously, this track was influenced by the "Jump" period ala sound and keyboard model.
I would like to dedicate this rare track to my son Anthony (very bubly like his personality).
The video brought so much memories to me. Hats off to Zack for his incredible work on this video!! Thank you kindly, Zack.
I can't be the only one who thinks the chorus to this tune sounds just a little like "Jump" -- the Pointer Sisters song from the same year. They're not identical, of course, but the groove and synth styles are similar.
I've had this on my iPod for years. I'm still so mad my mom wouldn't let me go to the VH 1984 concert because I was only in 7th grade, but I was told that Dave did his tai-chi demonstration to this song.
Dont feel bad Chris, I got f-d out of it too. There was this dick that ran around the schoolyard bragging about going. I wanted to kick him in the balls!!! LOL! Happy Holidays!
@christopherescopa Far as I recall, Dave's 1984 Chinese "sword dance" spot, tho all electronic, didn't resemble "Jump" or this in the least. Saw 'em 2 of the 4 nights they played the Cow Palace in SF that year (and thrice before startin' in '81). That's right @booeyats1, tho I'd a kicked you in the balls for NOT going back in '84! -- jk man!
@christopherescopa Same thing happened to me,only i was 14 at the time.Didn't get to see VH with Dave till '07.I even took my son,now he's a VH fanatic like his old man!
OMG, the ending credits from the 'wild life'... I've never fucking forgetten this riff by him

Could have been sort of a 'Jump- instrumental reprise' for the closing track on the 1984 album maybe???

I prefer VH with Sammy, and DLR after VH.

First time hearing this and the way the band moves at such a slow pace with new music nowdays this is extremely appreciated to have to hear.
Eddie's creativity period for making music was awesome in the 1980's. He's got such an ear for sound, love this guy,a legend.:)

too "pop-ish" too be van halen.Dosent fit their style...The breakfast club and back to the future are AWESOME movies btw!
fender51503 2 years ago
Well, it is Eddie Van Halen. I wouldn't consider this more pop than "Jump".
zackvanhalen 2 years ago 11
I actually consider it an instrumental B-side to Jump.
TylerDurden398 2 years ago
This is wayy better than Jump. its sets the total 80s mood, takes u back. where as Jump is horribly overly commercial and shit.
