It's not that much the text, but what the song stands for. It was first sang by Russian Army deserter immigrants. It was popular in the Russian immigrant communities until the 90s that had nostalgia for Old Russia. Maybe they can even play it now in Russia :)

Sorry, but this is a beautiful WW1 song, about the White Army and the old Russia which was gone. The Red commissars are evil here. This is a tribute to the famous Poruchchik Golitzyn who was among the last White leaders with white Cossacs, resisting the Red revolutioners. It's a very tragic song bc he was not politically savvy. He lost the battle, left for France & later US and soon died in poverty. It's about Russia's Great Sun ... and nostalgie for the Motherland (Russia).
