Pop isn't loyal to a certain genre music, its just that over the last decade or so, Hip Hop and Party Music has been popular so many people get the interpretation that Pop is that genre of music. They are certainly not hard rock. Hard rock would be Guns N' Roses (original) AC/DC, Van Halen, Rev Theory, JET, Alter Bridge (to an extent) and so on
