  • Such a humble, kind, intelligent man.I had a heavy heart whilst watching this.Your legacy will continue to bring joy and teach people about the fascinating world of sound.Every time I have fun playing my keyboard,it's possible because of your life long dedication to all things analogue.Thank you Bob.

  • It's so nice to see Bob on TV still enthusiastic and loving telling us about them. It makes me sad that he would pass away the year after. RIP Bob, a gentleman and pioneer.

  • The real father of electro music!

  • a great MAN.

  • Go analog.

  • RIP Bob Moog

  • This is such a good video

  • So grateful for the genius behind this cite. I found you because of the simple desire to understand the meaning of "theremin," a word new to me in a music review in my paper newspaper. Hello Google. I've been hearing theremins on soundtracks for decades. My first child was born in 1965, by the way.

  • Dr.Moog was a genius, a pioneer, and a legend. Rest in peace, Mr.Moog, Rest in peace.

  • I love it

  • I dig that Mickey Dolenz used his Moog on The Monkees' "Daily Nightly". . . very cool.

  • i love synthesizers

  • google should make a doodle for this guy

  • "It's just fun to play. It just feels good. There's a connection between the player and the instrument which goes beyond something that can be explained with physical theories. It's in the spiritual world." That is the best ever explanation of why analog synthesizers are so appealing, and of course it comes from Moog himself.

  • I miss TechTV so much!

  • Why are there 10 dislikes for this video? Trolls?

  • Man this was amazing! Thank you for posting!!!

  • he makes many toys to people , thx

  • What a nice guy =')

  • Not only that he was the father of the synth, but the father of electronic music. Kesha should be thankful for him . :))

  • @stelian95 Kesha shouldn't be allowed anywhere NEAR a Moog.

  • I don't know too much about them but would a guitar amp be used for the moog?

  • Cool segment. Seems like a really cool show.

  • badass

  • 初音ミクがいるのもDr R Moogのお陰なのだね。

    ありがとうDr R Moog

  • He was the best. RIP Robert Moog.

  • TYVM Dr. Moog! R.I.P You helped started a wonderful reformation in musical instrament technology. You a humble genius. God bless you and thanks for the person who posted this educatioanl video! I never would of seen this with out this video post. History is important.Thank you both.

  • what an awesome episode. on a side note, this was back when tech tv-type programming was good. it's a shame they merged into G4 (which was also better at that time) and turned into this awkward trendy wannabe channel that is G4 today. nonetheless, I'm glad this video exists and thanks for uploading it!

  • he's so awkward and awesome.

  • Thanks for sharing this. I wish The Screen Savers was still around.

  • God Bless you Dr. Moog.

  • rip brilliant guy

  • read an excellent book on Moog called 'Analog Days' by Pinch and Trocco

  • What a wonderful, and lovably human being. RIP

  • did not expect to hear rachmaninoff =)

  • P Funk !!

  • Thank you for "the Good techno," made with analogue synths!!!

  • Thank you Dr. Moog for enlighting us. After hearing your Mini Moog, I was never the same. It changed the way I played music. Yes, I'm sure Dr. Moog went back in time armed with a MiniMoog Voyager and blew their minds. Or he's showing "The Man Upstairs" how to wail on the MiniMoog D. It is safe to say that your legacy will never die Dr. Moog. Thank you for teaching us.

  • WICKED!!!

  • Did they really go to the moon?????? Na did they bollox

  • "very neat" - as sta\ted - ROLF HARRIS DID OK ON HIS THING TOO!

  • Why did he kind of dodge the question when asked what he's working on?

  • because he was working on the Little Phatty

  • Robert Moog and Raymond Scott and the russian Leon Theremin, as the his name theremin !

  • In Russian his name is Termin. Who thought of putting an H in it?

  • Aw man, Dr. Robert Moog gone back in time in his Delorean to 1920s to play Theremins :/ hope he comes back soon ...

  • Robbies eyes scare me...RUN AWAYYYYY....

    GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH !!!...

  • does anybody remenber of hearing theremin sounds on scoobydoos cartoons on the scary moments.. lol moog love it.. simply the coolest. original stuff.. that's creativity.

  • I have a few emulators and I love them but they are noting compared to the warmth of the real thing.

    MOOG= LEGEND!

  • "They feel good to play." Jewel dropped Dr Moog. RIP!

  • "Don't you go trying this at home now," : )

    Miss Bob Moog, and TSS

  • he seems nervous

  • Dr R Moog=Pioneer!

  • Legend.

Oh by the way Klaus Schulze =]

  • You can build a tube Theremin using components from a tube radio.

  • unreal eh? Whats most unbelievable is that it's a 1920's product .. wayyyy ahead of its time!

  • :) he's way too great, now I know about a man who make the music today like it is :)

  • Bob Moog at his Charming Best.

    This is Great!

  • This was a great show, let TSS and Dr. Robert Moog RIP.

  • cool!

  • this is the worst interviewer ever. Can he seem any less interested..."very cool"...

  • i totally agree... "neat"

  • rip robert moog

  • dr.moog = genius

  • I work right next door to the moog studios in NC, I envy not working there.

  • I like that the interviewer keeps mentioning P Funk!

  • todas las noches escucho tu voz, bob...

  • Who is the real father of synthesizer??? Elisha Gray (1876)... any way amazing invention by dr. Moog...

  • Rest in peace, Robert Moog.

  • Really miss the screen savers, shame crappy g4 ruined it :(

  • amazing invention

  • The Screensavers was such an awesome show! They had cool informative segments like this all the time.

I really miss TechTV. Once G4 took over, everything that was good on that channel was destroyed forever.

  • I miss eyedrops...

  • If you liked TechTV, you would've loved ZDTV. It was nothing but wall-to-wall computer-related shows, and of course TSS and CFH were their crown jewels.

  • I had a dream I died and the one thing I wanted to take with me was my synthesizers (sad I know). I'm still praying there are synths in heaven (or at least a synth harp) hopefully with Dr. Moog there his work will continue on...

  • presenters shirt is ugly :):) (yes, go ahead and give me thumbs down)

  • Heh, yeah, this was something of a staple of TSS, started by Leo Laporte back in the ZDTV days.

  • MR. BOB MOOG THANKS EVER SO MUCH ESPECIALLY FOR MY very little little BAD ASS PHATTY GOD SPEED ON YOUR CONTINUED COSMIC JOURNEY. Thanks for posting this BLEW ME AWAY A TREASURE FOR THE WHOLE UNIVERSE.

  • Awesome HISTORY !!! I will still however MOO'g,,,DOO'd !!! Until Paul Shaffer comes to correct me otherwise,,Dave!!!

  • analog synths are sooooo much better than digital. i own a digital myself and i salivate just hearing that minimoog.

genius of a man right there

  • bob moog is my hero.

  • Here's a fun drinking game, take a shot every time Patrick says "very cool." Sure to get you wasted.

  • this guy is, or was, so cool for a man his age. I wish he were my grandfather or something.

  • Electronic music owes this man a GREAT deal, would love to see informative segments like this on the modern AoTS. Alas, time rambles on.

    R.I.P. Dr. Moog

    R.I.P. The Screen Savers

  • Robert Moog was the coolest guy in music that most people had never heard of.

Awesome dude, God rest his soul.

  • Agreed.

  • probably the coolest grandpa known to mankind

  • The Screen Savers were an actual GOOD show on ZDTV/TechTV. G4 kind of blows now!

  • R. I. P. Dr. Moog.

  • PHAT!!

  • I am really considering getting myself a synthesizer any suggestions? Nothing to fancy, I'm a highschool student ;)

  • cheaper solution get a midi controller and vst instruments on a computer, or get a Minimoog Voyager, its Phat :D

  • Thanks, I will look into it!

  • At 1:36, I love that Bob proves a popular myth wrong.

  • It sure does feel good to hear a Moog, I shiver with joy if I sweep the filter. The only thing that sucks is that I never got to meet Bob, oh well.

RIP Bob Moog. you are already and will be missed.

  • supper video

  • I enjoyed watching this vidio. I remember E.L.P. back in 1972, I was in Junior High school, when I first heard of Moog Synthesizer and the theremin. Right on!

  • INCREIBLE!!!!

  • OH MY GOD I REMEMBER THIS GEEK ASS SHOW

  • ooh megamang...you can remember 2 or 3 years ago...what are you? seven years old?

  • lmao...fred turd

  • Are The BEach Boys using a theremin in Good Vibrations?

  • yes

  • To my best knowledge they did...

  • That was an Electro-Theremin. Which has a strip for pitch control and a knob for volume control. So, basically, it's not a theremin at all. Paul Tanner invented it for the recording sessions.

  • yea, didn't find that out till after I posted, my bad

  • Full respect to this man.

    Period.

  • Bob is a god in the synthesizer world.

  • The 'oo' in Moog was originally pronounced as a 'long o' sound (as in 'vogue') but we often Anglicize it like we rhyme it with 'fugue.'

  • Gee WHIZ!!

  • 3:05-3:08

    orgasmic

seriously made me want to go out spend my car money

    just for that

  • would you enjoy some live, really evocative sicilian performance with some minimoog prodigiy? type in the search box this: "pelio dreamcatcher". Have some good time.

  • is awesome!

  • I'm glad this Screen Savers clip exists, because it's like a condensed version of the highlights from Bob Moog's interviews on the Moog DVD.

  • Great clip. I certainly agree with what he said about digital synthesizers.

  • was that rachmaninoffs vocalise he played on the theramin?

  • God Bless, Dr. Bob..Thank you for your contribution to music, ground-breaking...I hope you're teaching those harp-playing angels the benefits of playing a Minimoog...

  • Thanks for posting. Dr. Moog's contribution to the world of music is incomparable.

  • You made a contribution to Music lovers-CLASSICAL and POP- that is above and beyond. Thank you, R.I.P.

  • Wow...That guy was cool.

  • I was dismayed to find out that he died! I talked to him in 2004. He was getting on a bit by then. It's all true. He was an amazing man.

  • Rest in Peace, genius. You changed the world. When you think about just how much pop music has shaped our culture in the past 40 years, thank Dr. Moog, as well as his contemporaries.

  • This guy was like the reincarnation of Nikola Tesla!!! I want to build a theremin now!!!

  • Bob Moog was and IS a Electronic GOD

  • more like a saint.

    RIP St. Moog

  • RIP Mr.Moog

  • Dr. moog is equal Dr. cool

  • RIP Mr.Moog. you Revolutionized music.

  • good shit

  • The song "Good Vibrations" used a thermin.

  • That is a myth. Brian Wilson wanted a theremin but was unable to get ahold of one and wound up using an electro-theremin aka Tannerin.

  • I thought he used an ondes martinot?

  • Seems like a nice fella that Bob Moog. Less pretentious than the people he has working for him (from the other Moog videos)

  • hmm interesting lol

  • Long live the analog Synthesizers

  • He's a classic.

  • pretty cool.

  • that's not synths, they're Theremins, I want one!
