How the fuck can the NHL have only punished this ass with a fine? Ward's gloves are on, he's flat footed holding his stick on the ice - he could not be in a more passive position. And still Walker hits him. The only way this is different from the Bertuzzi incident is that the punch doesn't come from behind. Bertuzzi justifiably got a long suspension - Walker gets fined pocket change. It's decisions like this that make the NHL a joke.

For those fans that say that people in American only watch hockey for the fights, I don't remember the last time I heard anyone around here walk out of a game that had no fights and say "I wish there were more fights." Most people I know like the sport because it has great action and a hell of a lot of suspense.

Sounds like humanity actually showed up in this thread. Might not be as entertaining, but certainly a little more rational. I think ya'll (yep, I said it) should realize this won't change the game much tonight. Both teams are typically more disciplined than game 5, and both know what's on the line. Boston will look to give Walker a good check at the beginning of the game, but it won't go any farther. I bet it will be a good, physical, but ultimately disciplined, game.

The fact is: both players hadn't dropped the gloves, so it's a sucker punch, THATS ALL! theres a difference between a sucker punch and a cheap shot, a cheap shot is when player "A" never had a chance at protecting himself from player "B"'s attack/hit. Here, Ward would have to be fucking BLIND not to see something like this coming, he's staring at him. I think Walker should have been giving a game misconduct and thats it, you don't throw a punch(gloves on) and not expect some kind of retaliation
