i went there last week, its awsome, the whole area is completely littered with shell holes even now,via euro tunnel you can get there with in a few hours from uk
It feels odd that the Great War is almost a hundred years in the past now, where as only a few years ago, it seemed like an event just a few decades ago earlier in the century.
are the trenches right now made out of bricks or like thos sand bags or w.e they used before..cuz it looks like people fixed up the trenches or something.. or is everything there like original ..?
Ive been here and i reckon the sand and earth that were in the bags have turned to a kind of stone?I may be wrong though. They are also in very good condition so i do think they have been recostructed to a certain degree. Its an amazing place, i recondmend it to anyone.
in ww1 they used sand bags to protest the trench. in vimy ridge they re made the trench out of stone so that people could see what the trenches look liked during the war
It was incredible, would do it again if I had the chance. The only downside was the wealth of places to visit, and the very little time we had to play with.
I wish I was there in 1917. :/
