  • "Find enclosed one son one medal and a note to say he won" - pure genius!

  • Rick is probably one of the most controlled drummers of all time easily. Effortless !

If only HD was around back then . No need for sound alteration though. The Jam were the loudest, tightest most aggressive live three piece band of all time . Magic .

  • @mukkaspec I'm a drummer...when first fumbling to self-teach myself, I thru on the headphones and tried best I could to emulate his drumming. My style 32 years later still draws from those afterschool headphone sessions w/ the Jam. Hands down, next to the Who...My Fave band!

  • Rick Butler was sooooo underated, he gave the beat we all danced to, The Jam For ever!

  • guitar rift at the start is alltime epic, bro used to get up an hour b4 school to listen to the jam, did me suede in at the time lol, good shit!

  • mw2 joe sent me

  • long live the jam

  • the jam will never go away kids nowadays are listening to them long live the jam

  • weller... the jam xx

  • Weller with an Eton wedge....

  • little boy soldiers is a bit dodgy here - love the studio version but set the house ablaze is one of those tunes that gets overlooked- dark great lyrics and great both live and the studio version

  • Fire & Skill

  • now listen to the beginning of helicopter by bloc party

  • @jacksaynor yeah mate, that's exactly what i thought when i first heard it hahah

  • If anyone tries to get near this sort of musical intensity, all the critics & punters all go "well there was The Jam before, and they were this and that..." you got to let the new sound happen. Can't ever tell when or where and what it's gonna sound like.

  • Little boy soldiers stolen from Brigadier Smedley D Butler's book "War is a Racket".

    READ IT folks,please.

JAM FOREVER - FUCK U BLOCPARTY

  • GOD !!!!!

  • the great3est band of all time!!!

  • One of the best bands EVER EVER... truly talented in EVERY way!!! I spent my teens and 20's with them. I feel blessed for that!

  • Always loved their sound, never liked their socialism.

  • @tjhoenecke

boo hoo. Went to the Faulklands, then?

  • Little boy soldiers, how timeless and appropriate the lyrics are today.

  • great song takes me back in time years gone by

  • The Jam had everything. A great song writer an ace drummer and an ace bass player- and an ace audience. Sold out gigs and tours and 4 number one singles every album produced contains a number of classic songs. CLASS! I LOVE EM

  • I was just that little bit to young to catch them live before their untimely demise. One of my many regrets

  • Best live band i have ever seen, so tight and so much quality loud sound, also i have never heard such great lyrics. Just the best, god bless you lads and thank you

  • Can't agree more!!!

  • Best Jam song of all time (especially live!!!)

  • AWESOME! I FLOVE THIS BAND! The Clash, Joy Division, Bauhaus & Sisters of Mercy also rocked!

  • simply said the greatest band ever!!

  • 1st class.Does this whole concert circulate at all?

  • Just love the Jam,what a band, what sound, play it louder and angrier? Nah you can't top that.

Fu""cking Awesome, there will never be another band to outplay them on stage.

  • @ set the house ablaze

I wish this song was louder! There's nothing wrong with this video, but generally; MAKE IT LOUDER!

  • @Doyubi In the words of the immortal Ian Gillan: "Yes, could we please have everything a little bit louder than everything else...?" ;)

  • u want live?this is it.

  • Hell yeah

  • Amazing performance. Along with the Clash, the only bands that really mattered from the late-70's to early-80's.

  • DaddyofPunk: Joy Division mattered.

Anyone ever noticed the guitar in some places of this song sounds like Bloc Party ripped The Jam off? Check out "Helicopter" by Bloc Party and see for yourself.

  • it does sound very similar to the opening riff, for sure

  • The best band of their era, energy is awesome!!! fucking brilliant!!!

  • LOL @ Mollzy99 don't you mean Block Party sounds like the start of this.

I think you'll find that many current British bands have been influenced by the might Jam.

  • Foxton needs a haircut, haha.

  • Oi! His haircut IS The Jam!

  • Good Jam track

  • yes but the police said sweet fannie , looks like paul s sold out on us then. little boy soldiers, weller doing bertrand russell , a patriot tells you how he will die for his country but never how he will kill for it.

  • Both Jam and Police performed fantastic gigs.

They were three but sounded like a 5 guys on stage.

  • Little boy soldiers still sends those tingles up my spine.

  • the best band in the world.

    end of.

  • I agree, also agree with the line [in context when it was written] "what have you done for me" good stuff!

  • its the army soon , the police cant do sweet f a , they are all 3 foot tall and the crims 6ft plus. whats the police s favourite game at night, its called hide and seek, they hide the public seek.

  • CAPATILISM DOES NOT WORK. When you sheeple going to realise. 1% of usa owns over 90% , and the 1% spent the 90% , and want a bailout with our less than 10% , if they spent their 90% , then our 10% is diddley squit. Either way doomed, house will be 70% less than august 2007 average will go down from £200k to £60k mark my words. 99% of the people need to do something to the 1%,how about logans run for the rich instead of over 30s lol. RISE UP.

  • just enjoy the music you moron

  • lets face fact empire ended 1918. good. if you learn from our history we had the worlds greatest smugglers, ie outlaws, so great they beat up the navy ans started act of union. no m8 this country full of thick uncaring, arragant shmeg heads. do you remember the tv programme V , i feel like aliens all around me. We spent our wealth, now its time to pay and we cant, third world brittain is coming, you can trust me on that. rule brittania they are slaves not even on the waves. RISE UP.

  • what the hell have u2 got to do with the jam, the irish and americans would have you think they were gods. Good you can bloody have em. i think these records are better on sound effects and setting sons their 5th and 4th albums and great live. Us english are poor at many things, our empire went long ago , but hey we got the jam, are we not chuffed , usa keep u2 all to yourselves, you can have em

  • i agree anyone can take u2 away for me but i will keep the jam thanks, but us english are great at everything, just look at history english greatness is everywhere.

  • beko ,ghandi and martin luther king would of been proud of you , so would bob, please you still got a job paul, apathy eat you in the peace movement, we need your anger back its our mr motivator. nuclear every where, you are one of the few who said no m8,

  • i think we lost our perceptions......enter the mighty bruce bass line

  • pure genious

  • Great Stuff. Songs souuds even better on DIG THE NEW BREED album

  • Good stuff.

Shoot shoot shoot and kill the natives,

You're one of us and we love you for that.

Better to take your shots and drop down dead,

then they send you home in a pine overcoat

With a letter to your mum

Saying find enclosed one son - one medal and a note -

    to say he won.

  • life was a drink ,and we drunk it when we were young happy days

  • anyone who doesnt love these two songs are mental ... pure genius

  • top band **************************** YES!!

  • others, like U2, were able to profit and fill the gap made and left by this exceptional group and utter genius 'Monsieur Paul Weller'.

  • 'Kin top notch.......the man is a genius and the band were the best of their generation...by a VERY long way.

  • Fuckin' Genius!

  • One of the greatest bands of all time.

  • The rift from Set The House Ablaze sounds very similar to Bloc Party - Helicopter.

  • yes .. but it was here before any of bloc party were born :P lol

  • you mean riff lol i used to say rift

  • I was about 18 when I first heard Little Boy Soldiers, my first thought was it was exactly what was missing from modern music, unfortunately even with the return of guitar music its still missing.

  • Woooooo blew me away : )

  • Sheer sheer class,what more can I say?Ta Aceface.

  • Little boy Soldiers, Burnin Sky, Set the house ablaze... Why is no-one writing songs like these today? Too busy covering Barry Manilow 'Classics'...

  • Little boy soldiers is one of the best songs ever written. It's as relevant today as it was in 1979.

  • " we killed and robbed the f*ckin lot...but it was done under the flag of Democracy!" Paul Weller We Friggin Lov ya mate!!...These lyrics are as pertinent, factual, truthful NOw as ever!!!!!!!!!!

  • THis is what Uncomprommising Hard Driving THOUGHT Provoking Lyrics Music is all about....but the question remains...When is Paul Weller gonna convert to islam like Dave Chapeele ("I´m James Brown..B*itch!) , Cat stevens and Jimmy Cliff?????
