  • Postmodernism does define itself as does not want to accept truth and reality. Then, everything is vague. Here some truths: 1) We need air to breath to live. 2) There is day and night. 3) Eating and drinking is required for being alive. 4) This video is on You Tube. 5) Posting You Tube video require internet access and electricity. 6) The speaker speaks English. 7) Posting this comment require me to type something in the comment box. Postmodern is a hoax in reality.

  • I knew this was a christian video the moment I saw that guy with the disturbing church smile on his face.

  • REMODERNISM !!! NOT Postmodernism.

  • mmmmmmm sorry but this guy completely missed the point.

  • Post modernism is an emotion more than anything else...if you don't see the appeal of post modernism you probably won't really understand it.

  • @FeelingFreshSon what would the appeal be?

  • @rafaelperezprat

non-sequiturs? I dunno, postmodernism is fun, unlike modernism. Ism words are silly though.

  • interesting. been doing some research on postmodrnism today. thanks!

  • @verwoestijning Awesome!

  • Postmodernism is a politically correct, incoherent, absurd denial of reality. And it certainly isn't invariably allied to atheism; the so-called New Atheist movement is strongly anti-postmodernist in outlook, as postmodernism is the enemy of objective science and rational inquiry. There are both religious and agnostic/atheist proponents of postmodernism; the theology of the former tends to be surpassingly silly and doesn't sit well with those who take the Bible to mean what it actually says.

  • Even the statement: Nothing can be defined, may not be postmodern. If it was impossible to define something, then saying so would be like saying: Nothing can be jabbywooed. It wouldn't mean anything because "defined" would be just as indefinable as everything else.

  • I wouldn't say postmodernism would say: Reality is what you make of it, because that statement STILL keeps the "you." Basically there is a you, and it's what makes everything else. This is a kind of "hidden objectivism" that postmodernism would feel obligated to call into question.

  • another example of fundamentalist attempts at indoctrination

  • Postmodernism = Anarchy

I hope everyone enjoys being right.

  • it talks about minorities, social justice... well if its talking about no absolute truth, what is justice for post-modernism? there is no such a thing as "good and bad"?

  • i hope nobody believes this guy. he sounds just like someone speaking in the god theory, god is everything, god is all, create all, perfect divine being, there is no such thing, what would you want with life if it were that, makes absolutely no sense to someone with SENSE. someone with KNOWLEDGE! someone that thinks outside of the box. not the religious box you are stuck in randall niles, quit filling peoples heads with bullshit.

  • @itsVINCEC thats why this video has 33 likes and only 5 dislikes

  • @paulow200 6 now

  • @itsVINCEC He's actually pretty damn accurate in his description of postmodernism. Sure, there may be a bias because he works for a group affiliated with religion, but that doesn't mean you can immediately take whatever he says and discard it because of one specific aspect of his personality. This talk was practically devoid of religion except in describing it, in the postmodern sense, as unnecessary, which is true.

Stop being reactionary for the sake of being reactionary.

  • This video saved me for my mid term. NOW I understand. THANK YOU.

  • Post modernism is completely ironic. To say there are no concrete truths is in itself a concrete statement, hence the irony.

  • it just means that in a pluralistic sense, it basically means that theres no concrete truths with in a full society, that individuals can-and will-form their own opinions, hence what it means by saying there are no concrete truths.

  • @dougiehandford But it's ironic because merely by saying that there are no concrete truths and that EVERYONE's opinion is somehow valid IS a concrete statement.

  • @eragon2121 i know what you mean, and post modernism does not depute this, however this part of the argument is often taken out of the intended context-such as in this video-hence the apparent hypocrisy :)

  • modern - never believe in spiritualism, but more to scientific reason. Postmodernism - going back to spiritualism, yet not necessarily believing in God. Modern is when they have lost the touch of spiritual sensation, while postmodernism is more searching the spiritual touch and sensation. This we will find a mixture and has no end, no rules, no limit, no foundation, no absolute truth, no definition in what is right and wrong, confusion of genders, gray area, THE UNSURE OF EVERYTHING

  • 1.) The claim that reality is ultimately inaccessible and unknowable is hardly new, many of the "modern" philosophers (as if they were all unified in doctrine...) are of this opinion (Locke's "that I know not what," and Kant's "=X" come to mind).

2.) I shudder to think that they have made unclear thought a virtue, and it is probably why so many younger philosophy students can't make or understand basic arguments.

3.) It sounds like a knock-off of Wilhelm Dilthey's Weltanshauung Philosophie.

  • very good presentation. thanks for sharing your views about postmodernism.

  • I think the people who coined the term "modernism" and "post-modernism" were all a bag of... well, I can't use the word because I want to respect you.

At least the Victorian Era or the Colonial Era and other terms that could describe a period were fixed in time. But we are always modern, and someone went and locked that to a period in history.

Postmodernism starts to describe nothing because it describes everything.

  • What I find interresting, that in matthew, It says that one day the world will become godless, (that was writen over 2000 years ago)... yet shall we question on what is happenning all around us today?? when we look arround our selves...

  • Oh god the bullshit. It burns.

  • Wow! This is a tremendous help. The textbook I'm reading in my class is really hard to follow when it comes to this topic. You're video really brought everything together for me. Great job!!! Totally love the video!!!

  • A good presentation of post-modernism.

  • Watching this should qualify us for a college credit in their Postmodernism 101 course. Good Video!

  • yes, generally it doesn't matter what the "ism" is, they are all of the same den of iniquity. its just lawlessness anyway you cut it. do what thou wilt. im ok if you're ok. well im not ok. and you're definately not ok.

  • @Leiflton i just realized that this is all the same thing. its all part of mankind's great idea of transformation. its the metamorphoses; the occulted transfiguration; the alchemical transmutation; the magnum opus; the great work. evil is good and good is evil. God is Satan and Satan is God. all of these isms are the shadow of it. "what's going to happen? something wonderful. you see, its all very clear to me now, the whole thing; it's wonderful."

  • @Leiflton

you're making no sense, the alchemical transmutation?

Alchemy was a medieval forerunner of chemistry, it is completely fictional, as is your appropriation of the morning of magicians.

It is an overview of the occult, with speculations on various mysticisms that have NOTHING TO DO WITH POSTMODERNISM.

As for God is Satan and Satan is God, doesn't quite capture the notion of postmodern relativism. Quit the pretentious jargon.

  • @ogodsell never read that book, but postmodernism has everything to do with alchemy (which is not fictional as it relates to metaphorical and spiritual practices) and the occult. it all ties together. the new age, 2012, freemasonry, rosicrucianism, islam, catholicism, protestant groups and traditions (ie christmas), movies, music, tv, political ideologies, etc. see They Sold THeir Souls for Rock and Roll; Hollywoods War on God, and my film Knowing Exposed when it is complete.

  • @Leiflton

I can see how you can impose such metamorphoses.

Postmodernism can be defined, as in the Lyotardian sense, "an incredulity towards metanarratives." So although it may refute an idyllic view of history, it doesn't legitimise said conspiracies. Nor do they accurately fit the zeitgeist.

However, I would view your upcoming film.

  • nice. even if people don't agree with my premise (which basically is a metanarrative based on luke 4:6) they should still find the study interesting, especially if they are interested in "hidden" or occult things. technically there are things about Christianity that could be considered "occulted," as it says "the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets." but this is focusing more on the negative connotation of being hidden for nefarious purposes.

  • And to think...I used to think/feel this kind of garbage was accurate and true.

  • Postmodernism is where we get the self refuting statements like: There are no absolutes!

  • @TheEdge012 Hahaha yeah.

    Thats a good one!
