The SRT-8 is a technically stock trim that comes from the factory..... and it might have more horsepower then the porsche but the porsche is also a helluva lot lighter then the jeep....
jeep srt8s are 420hp stock. 6.1 liter pushrod v8. american muscle. you can add exhaust, intake, head work, and a cam with a predator tune and be over 500hp on the jeep srt8s

I chose to buy '04 Cayenne Turbo over a new SRT8 for just a little less money. The used Porsche is a much better value. Super handling on snow and ice, can haul my toys and can haul ass.
Yes much better value. Depreciation over the next year maybe 15%. Depreciation of anything new off the lot is 25% instant if not more (the up side is SUV are being sold cheap right now). I have much better winter time traction, can tow toys, can take it off road, and even with miles on it, Porsche is just built tighter than Jeep. Had several problems with the 99 JGC I sold. It is only slightly slower, in '04 it was absolutley the fastest SUV. New Turbo S will smoke SRT8 crate.
New turbo S has at best the same 0-60 time (does not smoke an SRT by any stretch of your over active imagination!) and I admit its a lovely looking vehicle inside and drives extremely well, but even taking depreciation into account its $112k v $40k when new!!!
No contest. Buck for buck new JGC SRT over Porker T Bone S any day.
I bought mine for 37k. 5 model years of depreciation taken off. The depreciation slope is now about 15% or maybe even less. Drive a 45k SRT8 off the lot and instantly lose 15k in resale. Living in Alaska (GO PALIN!!!) I do like the special traction on ice similar to VWs 4 motion traction control, has to be seen to be appreciated. The off road (with wheel change) and towing ability adds more utility. Performance is 25 more HP for extra about 1200 more pounds; wont be missed.
Now I can understand why you chose the Cayenne over the JSRT living in Alaska! Its out of its depth in those conditions for sure. You found the SRT's Achilles heel!!!

I love Porsches and I love the SRT8. It's value for your money... The SRT8 will def. eat the Cayman S off the line and quarter because of AWD and the SRT 8 egine. The SRT in general is a faster car than the Cayman but the Cayman is very impressive on the Track. Different strokes for different folks both performance oriented in their own ways.. And YES, a JEEP SRT 8 will EAT a Cayenne S.. SRT 8 VS a new Cayenne Turbo or older Cayenne Turbo S stock for stock is more fair..

The SRT is wider in track and body, yet the turning circles are virtually the same!! You might think that the Caymen has a significantly lower centre of gravity? not so! the majority of the Jeeps weight is in its drivetrain. But the real kicker is the SRT's on-demand 4wd! Dont be so sure your car will out handle mine!! :)

As for as hauling goes... do you know what low end torque is? and to be honest the reason to stay away from porsches is because most jeeps can be fixed or tinkered with at home where as I have never seen anyone change the oil in a late model porsche the money you saved on your purchase you will more than lose in a few years just for simple maintenance. that and every douche bag going through a midlife crisis has a porsche or vette.

As another bonus the Bose sound system just can't be beat. I still feel good about my buy.

The off road (with wheel change) and towing ability adds more utility. Performance is 25 more HP for extra about 1200 more pounds; wont be missed.

actually it's the stability control program, if u get too crazy with the Jeep it'll slow u down and keep from leaning, I know, I took a corner with my Jeep at around 80mph and this car barely leaned, the stability/traction control system keeps it tracking str8, amazing!!!! plus with the price of that Porshe u could've probably bought 3 srt8s!!

I love Porsches and I love the SRT8. It's value for your money... The SRT8 will def. eat the Cayman S off the line and quarter because of AWD and the SRT 8 egine. The SRT in general is a faster car than the Cayman but the Cayman is very impressive on the Track. Different strokes for different folks both performance oriented in their own ways.. And YES, a JEEP SRT 8 will EAT a Cayenne S.. SRT 8 VS a new Cayenne Turbo or older Cayenne Turbo S stock for stock is more fair..

The SRT is wider in track and body, yet the turning circles are virtually the same!! You might think that the Caymen has a significantly lower centre of gravity? not so! the majority of the Jeeps weight is in its drivetrain. But the real kicker is the SRT's on-demand 4wd! Dont be so sure your car will out handle mine!! :)

As for as hauling goes... do you know what low end torque is? and to be honest the reason to stay away from porsches is because most jeeps can be fixed or tinkered with at home where as I have never seen anyone change the oil in a late model porsche the money you saved on your purchase you will more than lose in a few years just for simple maintenance. that and every douche bag going through a midlife crisis has a porsche or vette.

As for maintainability; 70% of all Porsche s ever built are still on the road; they're just built well. Im absolutely amazed at the ass load of low end torque my Porsche has; it already comes with a transmission cooler and is very suitable and rated for 8700 pounds. As another bonus the Bose sound system just can't be beat. I still feel good about my buy.

70% Of porsches on the road are still on the raod because they have NO MILES on them. They all break down at about 50,000 but people never drive them that much. That's why they're still around. Yugos would still be on the road if they spent all their time in a garage. Drive a porsche for 100,000 miles and there will be nothing left that hasn't been repaired or replaced.

Did anybody say there are no old jeeps? Mine has about 70k and doing well. I have no doubt it will be doing very well after another 70k so don't worry about it. I sold my 99JGC at 90k to get it. High Performance biturbo engine and superior suspension is just much more fun. Like any performance engine, like SRT8, demands lots of synthetic oil, so what?

First owners may pamper theirs. Second or third owners like me will put the miles on. Like some said, nobody is going to put a $100k vehicle through mud. My Cayenne turbo will have off roading fun because I paid less than $40K for it. It's a daily driver and a weekend warrior.
You should get a used Jeep GC SRT8, you won't be sorry in five years when Chrysler is forced into making just K cars again. Were at the end of an automotive era and this time the Hemis' won't make come back.
