  • this is very cool

  • deadly

  • very fantastic road apple :)

  • Glad UR having fun! I fly 3D fix wing. Live long RC people!

  • are u using a y servo splitter?

  • how can I get the flying equipment?

  • OMG UFOS ARE REAL!!! xD

  • awsome! hey i was wodering if you know what an autogyro or gyrocopter is maybe if you can hook one up what i mean is ive seen you do an airplane from scratch brushless motor servos top rotor exedera exedera

    sincerly yours ssonic116

  • Dave, you rock man !

You're the best RC planes & heli's teacher that I ever saw on the internet!

I've been learning a lot with your tips! By the way, thank you by the lessons. They are aways helpfull. In special the HoneyBee Cp tips!

    bye.

    Marc

  • OMG! Pause at 6:45!! That belongs in an action movie!! XD

  • wow pretty nice

  • alright !! the doors nice pick and great flying

  • did you use a 3cell or a 2cell?

  • if i ever get a "roun-tuit" i might build one LOL

  • WOW !!!! I remember being in grade school, and checking out the issue of Model Airplane News from the library with this model in it !! I flew rubber band powered free-flight back then. I also remember seeing your Hyperfly 2ch heli a few years back at the hobby shop. Dave, your videos are the BEST R/C related videos on the internet !!

  • Thanks. That is very kind of you to say.

  • exelent flying airplane

  • Thanks very much.

  • for the sake of less control, I could just make one of these with a junk cheap plane parts from Walmart, transfer the hardware and just have throttle and steering. Hmm gonna try it.

  • Yep. Go for it.

  • That small plane at the end sounds like a cat meowing when it swoops down.

  • yea it does.

  • Looks simple enough...I have a cox .049 gas engine that i am planning to use on a plane with 2 or 3 servos, depending if i want tail control. Is a roun tuit easy to control for a beginner polit or should i try and use a conentional foam plane model such as the plane with the motor above the cockpit?

  • Yep. The bigger they are the better they fly too. Just remember that you should not use lots of control movement, because the round wing can easily get in a flat spin if you try to snap roll it, and because it is round and flat, it wont come out. Just shut down the motor and let it fall...it wont usually hurt it. Planes like the Super Cub will teach you more about what you want to learn, but this will teach you about real aerodynamics and flight physics, plus it gets lots of attention. LOL.

  • are those orange things floats for water?

  • No, they are for me to be able to see it. See my video "Stealth Helicopters, you cant fly it if you cant see it" for more on them.

  • So my belt-cp called it quits. However, i decided to put the servos to good use. (im making one.) All i need is a 25 amp brushless esc if anyone has any extras. no left-right tail?

  • did you make it or get it in a kit?

  • The Big old gas ones from the 70s were kits, but this one, I just made up from what I could remember.....

  • thats not a Roun-Tuit, its a Mini I.F.O!

  • Now a days maybe, but back in the 70's they were called Rountuits and were gas powered. See my video on Night flying helicopters and rountuits to see it fly. It was a kit you could buy...called a Roun Tuit.

  • Nice vid as usual Dave, I see you got a heckuva soft spot for the Blade 400 then? Lovin' mine to bits, have had her in the garden the last few days, though once she's all running up to power my garden suddenly seems to close in.... Phew!

  • Thanks very much. I appreciate that. I love my B-400. Lots of fun. Stay away from that garden now and have some fun with yours.

  • Trouble is in UK we don't get a lot of decent weather, so the Garden gives me a chance to get some stick time in. It takes me an hour or more to reach the club I started going to, by bus, so you can imagine the garden is a useful training ground.... Forgot to say, congrats on your 200th video.

  • Thanks kindly.

  • ghost riders in the sky that ur bak round music

  • Yep... Good ear.

  • Hello, please, can you send me plan to make UFO ?

  • Sorry, the plans were in my head, and this video still should suffice. Just make it the same size and watch the balance on the CG.

  • nice..

  • Thanks kindly.

  • bravo

  • thanks kindly.

  • do see the Roun-Tuit

  • YOU ARE SO COOL!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you.

  • Dave, I was wondering if you did anything with Rc cars. Like Gas or electric. If so, tell me please =D Love the videos. And that Roun' Tuit' was a funny joke haha

  • Thanks. I dont do cars anymore. Sorry. The roun tuit is actually pretty fun to fly, too.

  • Jst a question, how long does the Newest Remote Radio Control RTF ESky fly for?

    thanks

  • 8-10 minutes, so buy a couple of extra batteries and have fun. Most people learning don't get past 1 minute, so take your time and study my 9 heli flying tips.

  • hello dave, which is easier to fly? The fixed pitch e-sky honeybee or the nikko night watcher? thanks.

  • The FP honeybee will do the most for you and easy to repair too, as parts are abundant.

  • Hey, I am planning to buy a 4 channel rc heli... I wonder which one is best for me:New Falcon 40 4-Channel rc helicopter or Newest Remote Radio Control RTF ESky. Which one do you think I should buy?

  • Esky.

  • thanks !!

  • Hi i love all your videos especially the ones where you make your own stuff. Me and my friend just converted a superstar ep from electric to gas i thought that was pretty cool. Since the plane is so light it handles really well

  • Thank you. I am also glad to hear your pursuing the hobby. Good.

  • I love America! Mostly because of the guys like you :) You won't see someone as interested in something like RC's, but in America.

  • Thanks kindly for your comment.

  • Ohhh.. that explains the UFO's! haha =)

  • Yep...

  • Was that your article in Model Airplane News?

It was one of my all time favorites when I was a kid! I used to enjoy making odd shapes fly, plus the humor of it made me chuckle.

    I'll doit when I get a roun'tuit!

  • Yes. Thank you.

  • how much would it cost to make

  • If you have a motor, radio and battery, it would cost about $5 for the foam.

  • excellent Dave!!!,like the roun tuit, have just taken the foam base from the pizza in the fridge we got from the supermarket, where abouts is the c of g??? or better still any plans availible keep posting the videos good entertainment!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  • Thanks. No plans really, just in my head. LOL.

CG is 1/4 of total back from leading edge.

  • So glad you got a "Roun-Tuit " :)

  • Thank you. Me too. It is fun.

  • hello i have a romote controle helicopter and its AWSOME and i learned how to fly from you and your videos are very good.

  • Thanks very kindly. Your comments are appreciated. Good luck to you with your flying.

  • do you need a elervon mixer?

  • Yes.

  • it reminds me of a IFO. Lol.

  • wow it goes high!!!!!

  • Hi,

Its great that you finally got 'Roun-Tuit'!! Another great vid! I hope you don't run out of things to do for the next 200 vids! Oh yes, i must get roun-tu buildind a roun tuit.. so... what diameter circle did you use, that size was the rudder, and how thick was the foam??

    Cheers,

    Sheldon

  • Thanks kindly. Diameter is 24". Rudder is about 6 inches by 6 inches.

The foam board is 3/16th inch thick from Staples. Go for it.

  • Thanks!!

  • I've got the foam board, EXACTLY the same motor/esc, and will start now!

  • Very cool. Keep your rates and control surfaces movements down low, as it doesn't take much movement to maneuver it. 1/4 inch each way, will do it. Good luck.

  • Oh, ok! I will have to, i have a full flying moving rudder and control surfaces almost twice the size of yours! How was it for power, and what battery did you use?

    Cheers,

    Sheldon

  • It doesnt kick ass like some motors, but it is fast enough for me to enjoy as you can see. A nice flying speed I think. I use 1800 to 2100 MA 11.1 V. Lipos.

  • Yes! Is that the stock christen eagle battery, the 1800??

  • No. The CE was only 1100 I think so I went bigger.

  • Oh, mine is a 1800 Mah... anyways, it's bigger than a 1600Mah 3s and it also sayd on the sticker;)

    I'll keep you posted,

    Sheldon

  • congratulations! i like how simple the round-tuit was.

  • Thanks very much. Simple and easy to fly too.

  • thanks, and CONGRATULATIONS on your 200TH video! hope your video's go up to 200,000!

  • Thank you very much. I really appreciate that.

  • wehey!, brilliant video, never guess what!

ive saved £120 from pocket money, and im selling my ps2+xbox with 24 games/controllers/cables to my local game shop , hopefully it will put me in the £200's, im thinking an average of £250, then my dad said he will pay for the rest if i reach that limit!, well this saturday! WISH ME LUCK!

  • I do wish you good luck. Thanks for your comments.

  • X_X you made a cardboard fly ... what job did were you doing ?? maybe i should try it out :p wehn i grow up of course

  • Ha ha. Thanks. Of course try it.

  • congratz dave nice flying loved the roun-tuit hope u make another 200 vids

  • Congrats DAVE on your 200th! Love watching you fly your Blade 400. Im still working on my figure 8s. I need to get a simulator so I can work on my nose in flights. Im using Blade CX2 to practice my nose in flights, so thats helping. Question, On my DX radio, the f.mode switch is hard to reach when in flight. I wanted to switch the flaps with the f.mode, but have no tools to do that. You have any other ideas that might work without doing a internal mod?

    Captain Jack

  • Thanks. I know what you mean about the switch. I don't like it either. Seems that opening the case and moving switches would not be too hard.

  • has anyone ever told you your a genious? lol

    btw very good song choices

  • Thanks kindly sir....no genius remarks yet. I will take yours as the first. But Really, I just simply learn from my mistakes. If I was a genius, I would never make any mistakes. Ha ha.

    Thanks again.

  • Hey dave could you possible send me a message saying all the stuff you used here? im looking to make an airplane and this seems easy. I can make all the plane but im confused when it comes to setting up the radio equipment. All i need to know is 1) what radio is good and will work fine 2) how to do all the mixing 3) maybe a link to the motor. Thank you so much and if you dont want to you dont have to tell me. I am just confused as to how to make all that work.

  • I just used foam board, a spruce stick and dowel, A 110 watt Cox outrunner motor with Brushless speed controller, 2 Hitec HS-55 servos, a GWS 4 ch RX, a Hitec Prism 7 transmitter. You can see my layout in the video, and the Transmitter is programed to run elevons, (mixes ailerons and elevator). I used a 2100 MAH Lipo. I put it all together with electric glue. That's it. Good luck.

  • great vid dave....hope you make another 200 vids....at least you got the weather over there!!! thanks for a wonderfull collection of vids

  • I appreciate your comments. Thanks kindly. The weather will change here too soon and well be flying Stormlaunchers off the snow again....LOL.

  • Thanks Dave for such a smooth, easy ride to your 200th video. I look forward to your next 200. :-) About that Roun-tuit: Those look like they have an ultra high dollar-to-fun ratio! Have you or any of your buddies ever made a twin motored Roun-Tuit? You know, like that "Flying Flapjack" prototype from WWII. Talk about a high-alpha slow flyer! Thanks for the vid. 4-stars due to a little fuzzyness.

  • Thanks for the stars... I know the flying pancake for sure. Have pictures of it. I think it could easily be done. Maybe a Stormlauncher could be modified to make one. I may try that.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • hi dave, matt here from the cold wet uk again, well done on your two hundred vids,i always tune in to you tube to see if you,ve posted anything new you are my favourite on you tube keep up the good work for all your fans, and thanks,,,

Oh by the way, how did you get on with my idea of putting a waterproof cam on a sub to see whats down there in the pools you were using? Love to see that. Bet the fish are huge.

    Good luck.

  • Thanks very kindly. I will try that sub thing, if I can get a reliable sub next time.

  • Fantastic idea

oh boy I'm gonna have to make one!

(gonna have to get my Doors albums out too ) (c:

    5*

  • Ha ha ha. Great...and good ear too.

  • Hi,

  • Great Video Dave. 5 stars. Heh. It looks like to me that you have more videos than you do models. And by the way, where did you get the motor?

  • Thanks kindly. The motor is from the Cox Christen Eagle. I had a spare.

ur channel is very intersting and i really enjoy watching it :)

oh yeah where's the CG for Roun-Tuit?

  • Thank you. I really appreciate that. I put the CG at 1/4th of the total length back from the Leading edge at the motor.

  • thank you very much :)

  • 200 videos? CONGRATS! And I was so proud I made a lousy 2...LOL! Keep 'em comin'!

    Loved the Round Tuit!

    -Ken

  • Thanks very much...Glad you liked it.

  • Great stuff all the way roun Dave. As always it is a pleasure to watch your videos.

    Congrats on the 200th video.

I look forward to the next flight.

    5 stars.

    Eric

  • Thanks very kindly, Eric. I appreciate that.

  • Hey Dave, I noticed on the original roun tuit plane there appeared to be over 30 lights on it. Would that be considered "overkill" ? lol.. I had to throw that in when I saw it.

Again, great work on all the videos. I like how fast you put the latest roun tuit together.

    Eric

  • Haha. Well, having written the book on Night flying, I can assure you that if you were flying in pitch dark, you will loose your night vision if the lights are too bright. We never even allowed cars to enter our flying sight with the headlights on. By the way, those were LOW intensity (they didn't make high intensity then) LEDs. They all sequenced like a moving sign, not SPOTLIGHTS like yours. Ha ha. I could feel the heat! Do you run yours with a long extention cord? LOL.

  • So I take it your response is no, it wasn't "overkill". Hey that's great. Thanks for the reply.

    Quote for the day...

Never give up and try everything while you still can.

    Eric

  • Of course it's not overkill. Whatever works for you, is okay, ya know. I want to see it in color though. I like your quote. It's the opening line on my Channel page. Thanks for the great letter and pictures. I am very glad you came and Ilea and I really appreciate your letter. Your a good man, Eric.

  • i want one!!!!

  • Congrats on #200 Great Job Camera Editing and Flying. Keep it up Dave. 5 *****

  • Thanks very much, Greg. I appreciate your comments and rating.

  • great job

  • Thanks kindly.

  • i think i saw these wayyyyyy back in the old days, i desighn flying wings, so i have come across this once or twice :]

  • Yep, we were flying the "Roun Tuit" .40 gas sized kits back in the '70's, so that doesn't surprise me.

  • Congratulations Dave its great all the joy and great shared expirience you have put into each one of your videos, great to know there are still good people out there and inteligent ones that share great ideas like yours thanks kindly and CONGRATULATIONS!!! keep the great job Mr. Nightflyyer! (aplauses)

  • Gosh, thanks kindly. I really appreciate your comments.

  • omg thats like a ufo, thats awsome u should sell some of them =D

  • It was so easy to make, that selling them would not make it too worth while, but I appreciate that. Thanks.

  • nice job!

  • Thanks.

  • grats dave and cool roun-tuit!

    wilz

  • Thanks kindly.

Wait... 200 videos!! There's no way i've seen all you videos then, oh well, gonna have to go back and see do some catching up, lol

    5 Stars

  • Ha ha. Thanks kindly for your support.

  • totally awesome Dave. I have to ask though once and for all... Are you spending hours editing on something like this? What are you using to edit your videos? They come out really good but I honestly want to spend more time flying than editing a video. :)Do tell Dave. :)

  • Thanks very kindly. I fly every day, and do the editing when I feel the urge. I use Movie Edit Pro, mostly.

  • dave, i joined you tube so i could talk to you about helis.i have learned so much and done so much flying in the last few months and will continue. THANK YOU for everything.5s

  • Gosh, thanks so much for your comments. I am glad I have been able to help and will continue as I can. Best regards.

  • Great video as always Dave. I was just wondering if your Roun-Tuit came as a kit or if you scratch built it? I have seen several of them around the local field here that are all scratch built and they don't look as stable as they actually seem to be.

Hope to have ya around for another 200+ videos.

    5/5

    Steve

  • Thanks very kindly. I just took an idea in my head, no drawings, or anything and made it using what I remembered (not much) from my original flying RounTuits, and common sense on the balance. This one is very stable, for sure. But in the hands of a novice, it would easily look out of control...LOL. Thanks again for your comments.

  • Ya, I have never had the chance to try one out so maybe I will make a project out of it. Helicopters have always been my thing so I really know very little about the airplanes themselves although I do have a few airplanes in my collection.

    Steve

  • Thanks. Well it never hurts to learn both, as each has its challenges, making it fun. I make stuff like this to go beyond the norm for a challenge.

  • Nice one Dave,i'm pleased for you mate and yes i'll see you on your next 200 vids lol,and thanks for all the helpfull videos you have done in the past and hope in the future to,great flying as always,5*

  • I really appreciate your comments. Thanks for sticking around.

  • Wow 200 already?!? AWESOME!!!!

  • Thanks kindly.

  • Gratz

  • Thank you much.

  • congratualtions on many great vides dave well done!

  • I appreciate your comments. Thank you.

  • Grates Dave!

  • im the first person to see this video!

    Horray! 3 cheers for me!
