When I was in high school during the 1960's, there were less than 10 books in the card catalogue about 'homosexuality in Cincinnati's main branch of the public library. As I recall religion was seen as one of the cures and heterosexual marriage was the other. Well I was religious, but I was never cured. I won't ruin my life further, nor the life of some innocent woman by marrying her, pretending to be straight.
HIgh school did suck for me too. No prom and no 'man to man' date. always lonely
